One (Bar Dance) (5 page)

That was his mistake. I wanted more. I wanted it now and he was there for the taking so I took it. I had never had an orgasm from a man. Much less two. The third one was phenomenal.

Feeling his second one was even better.

Then I realized my mistake.

Condom. One time use only.

I didn’t care. I was clean. He had to be clean to work in the hospital.

I collapsed against his chest breathing hard.

Once
I caught my breath and I felt him soften inside me. I finally rolled to the side. I moved to climb out of bed but he beat me to it.

“Be right back.”

And he was. Condom free with a wet wash cloth. He cleaned me up and just tossed the wash cloth towards the bathroom. I heard it hit tile.

“It broke.” He said as he slid under the covers and pulled me over him.

“Felt it.” I said to him.

“You on the pill?”

I just nodded to his chest.

“You’re not upset at that?”

I yawned on his chest. Then I closed my eyes. I hugged him tight then loosened my hold. I didn’t have any more words for him or anybody else because I was sound asleep.

Chapter Six

I heard Rand answer his phone. Then I pulled the pillow around my head so that I didn’t hear him talk on his phone. I was sleeping in. Damn it. I was determined that I was going to sleep in.

Then I put the pillow back where it belonged and scowled at Rand when he said. “You want me to pick up
what
?”

He stared down at me as if the conversation he was having was my fault.

“Fine.” He said as he hung up.

He was
still scowling at me. It was actually a good look on him. That I didn’t say, since he was scowling.

“You know anything about potty chairs?”

I put my thumb and fore finger about a half inch apart. I didn’t use words.

“That was my brother Adam. Your friend Keiley,” He used her name as a question so I nodded, “Are in a situation. We get to go buy a potty chair and take it to them.”

I sat upright immediately. “Situation?”

“That’s what he said. Won’t know more until we show up with a potty chair.” He stood from the bed which was a good sight
. I watched him walk in the bathroom. He didn’t close the door. I didn’t close my eyes. I just followed and did the same thing that he did.

“Flush or wait.” I asked as he turned on the shower.

“Close the lid. Water pressure sucks in this joint.”

He wasn’t wrong about that. It was my only complaint too. I didn’t get a chance to ask if I was invited to join his shower. He tested the water and put me in first.
When he joined me it was a tight fit to say the least. “Your shower sucks.” I stated around a mouth full of water.

He turned us a bit and started washing me. Then he washed my hair. “Conditioner?” I asked.

“Nope.” He simply stated as he washed himself. I closed my eyes as he washed his hair afraid of soap blow back.

We climbed out and he grabbed the towel off the rack and a clean one from under the sink for me. Then I made a monumental change of heart.

“Not spending another night here. Your bathroom sucks. Big time.” There wasn’t even enough room for me to bend over and towel off my hair with him in the room.

“Yeah. I don’t like this place either.”
He said as he walked out of the room. “Rent’s cheap. Month to month. Close to work.” He shrugged his shoulders. I could see it from the other room.

I finally bent over and dried my hair with the towel. Then I looked at the sink. One toothbrush
and one disposable one that I had left on the counter. No hair dryer in sight. Not even a place to hide one.

He walked back in fully dressed except for shoes. “Scootch babe. Let me brush and I’ll take you home to dress.”

That was an exceptional thought. I was not putting on day old underwear. Especially mine that I had sweat in and well, made wet a few times before they were taken off of me. I wore cotton thongs. Two reasons. Reason one: no panty lines in my scrubs or dance clothes. Reason two: cotton liners in lacy underwear ruined the effectiveness of the lace. Not that I had reason to show off lacy underwear. Rand was the first man to see my underwear in four years.

I was such a dork. I was justifying my underwear choices, to myself.

Rand shook me out of my thoughts as he pulled a clean shirt over my head. “Are you asking for guidance while you shake your head to the heavens?”

“Just rethinking my underwear choices.”

He nodded at me as I stuck my arms through the arms of his shirt. “Why? I thought they were hot when I pulled them off last night.”

I should have
either been mortified or turned on by his statement. I wasn’t either of those two. I simply wasn’t staying another night at his place. He either slept at mine, in my king size bed, or he slept here alone. So I told him what I was thinking. “This place is nice, enough.”

He shrugged.

“I’m not sleeping here again.”

His eyes narrowed.

“I live just a ways away. You know that since you picked me up there. It’s Sam’s. I’m going to try to find a way to buy it from her. I like the place.” It was my turn to shrug. “The water pressure still sucks.” I realized that neither of us had flushed so I ran from the room and did that. When I came back I stated. “I have enough room in the shower to do other things than just wash.” I didn’t put on my pants and I tossed my panties toward the garbage can. They caught on the lip. I was glad that I didn’t have to walk over and make a second attempt.

Rand scowled at me
again for another reason.

“I pay like a buck a piece for them.” I said when I caught his scowl.

“They’re dental floss in cotton form. Please.” I made the last word in to nearly two words. As in ‘Pole Ease’. As if to say ‘Give it a break’. Which is what I meant.

I put on my shoes and climbed in his car. He drove me
home. I let him in and just realized that I really, really liked where I lived.

I had no pictures of family but I had a ton of me with my friends. I h
ad knick knacks in abundance. Throw pillows that I had made, some of them by hand, everywhere. Color was all around. I had the same white walls and almost the same tan carpet that he had. It just wasn’t the same. I had three bar stools at the counter but mine had dark blue cushions on them. I also had a table that I had found second hand with four chairs around it with the same cushions on the chairs. I didn’t have a big screen TV but I had a couch that you could sleep on and a love seat. I had a small TV but a large space that I could dance in with an iHome close by. I had a bathroom downstairs that company could use and my own bathroom that I didn’t have to lock one of the doors.

I tossed my purse to the table by the door and invited. “Look around all you want. I’ll just be upstairs.

I walked up the stairs towards my room. Two rooms up her
e. One was empty. One was mine. The bed was Sam’s everything else in the place was mine. I had two dressers, two bed side tables. Lamps everywhere along with candles set out all over the place. I didn’t burn them much. Just having them was enough of a scent. Cinnamon and Bayberry. I loved the combination. Sweet and sassy at the same time. I walked in my bathroom and started spraying my hair with leave in conditioner. I brushed it then ran my hands through it just as I normally did. I started brushing my teeth when I noticed Rand was in the doorway.

“That all you do to your hair?”

I nodded through foam and kept brushing.

“I like the smell of your room.”

I pulled his shirt off even with the brush still in my mouth. I gave myself a spray of my scent. I didn’t wear it to work. I only wore it out or at home. It was the same as my candles. I had it made just for me.

I continued brushing my teeth even though I was naked except for my scent and my toothbrush. I turned back to the mirror and continued brushing staring at the sink. When I was done I spit and rinsed. Then I pulled out a spare toothbrush and set it on the counter. “Yours.” I stated as I tried to casually walk past him.

I got a foot away before he hauled me back. “You forgot to kiss me.”

I was now pressed against him. Naked as the day that I was born. “Hmmm.” I said to him
innocently.

“Was that planned or did it just escape you?”

“Ummm.” I said as I licked up his pulse point on his neck.

I felt him undo his belt and lever me on my pristine
ly made bed. “I may have forgot?”

“May have?”

I felt more than saw him lower his jeans as he leaned in to me.

“Please.” Was all that I said before he
was inside.

“This one has to be quick too. You are
killing me woman.” He whispered in my neck.

Let me tell you. If that was quick I will take that any time, any day.
All day long.

Now we were standing in baby section of the local department store. You know the kind. They have a little bit of everything at affordable prices. We had our choice of two brands and six boxes of each kind. They were two dollars different in price. That wasn’t a help. They also weren’t like the ones at the hospital so I had no clue which one to get.

Stable base. Check.

Lift up seat. Check.

Easily removable and dump-able container. Check.

One was white. One was off white. My preference was the white one so you could easily tell how clean it was. Rand didn’t care. He wasn’t going to be the one to wash it out.

I chose the white one. It was two dollars less.

Then I hit the wet wipes. You can never ever have enough of those around with little ones. Hands, feet, face, bottom. The list is endless. I kept a package at home for that reason. Well obviously not for little people but… I actually got two for Keiley.

Then I hit the diaper section.
I got two packages of pull ups. They were diapers for overnight use. They looked like panties, kind of.

Then I hit girly-girl nirvana. The underwear section. Ruffles everywhere. I may have gone a little overboard since I selected one of everything. They were just too cute to not buy. Besides you can’t start too young with lace on your under stuff. I may not have worn lace but I couldn’t help myself. Really, I couldn’t stop. Besides they were
almost as inexpensive as mine were. I loved the whole experience.

Rand had found a comfortable wall to rest against while he watched me go ape shit. When I was done I beamed a smile towards him.
He shook his head and pushed the cart towards the check out. “You always like that when you shop?”

I shivered. “Never. I don’t actually like to shop much.”

“Could have fooled me.” He quirked a smile.

“Shut up. This is little girl stuff. That,” I pointed to the cart, “Is cute stuff. Whole nother world of fun.”

Our check out girl must have thought the same thing. When she picked up the light pink ones with three rows of ruffles she smiled. “I love these ones. My little girl is too big for the fun stuff anymore.”

I gave Rand and look that clearly said. “Told ya.”

He shook his head and paid. I carried two bags. He grabbed the other bag and the box and off we went. I gave directions to Keiley’s. I had been here numerous times. I had never been there when the house was full of people and it seemed to be chaos in all shapes and sizes.

Rand unboxed and set up the potty seat which took about two minutes. I on the other hand did
panty change duty. About every fifteen minutes each time meaning we also had to go check-out said potty chair. She was successful twice. I finally put a stop to it once she had tried on each and every pair of panties.

We stayed for lunch. Rand’s mom was hell on wheels to watch take over. My mom could throw an impromptu party for forty in two hours. Or she could throw a bake sale for five hundred. Get nearly twenty fed in less than an hour was also impressive. I learned to cook from my mom so I did finger food mostly. I also did comfort food on occasion. Breakfast stuff was my best if I had
company over. I liked brunch on Sunday mornings. Since I spent most of my time alone I usually did finger foods or fast food. I also worked at a hospital. The cafeteria food was actually pretty good. I ate there a lot because it was cheaper than a drive through. I also had people around so that I didn’t feel lonely even if I was alone.

I didn’t want to dance tonight. I called Sam
when we finally left and told her that. She said that she would have sent me home if I did show. It just wasn’t the thing to do after today. Keiley’s crisis had hit us all hard.

I asked Rand to stop at the same store that we were at earlier. I had a little bit of food in the house but not much. Definitely nothing that I wanted to cook
, or eat, even if I did figure out what I wanted. We got to the food section with our cart and I stopped dead in the middle of an aisle. Rand moved me to the side before the large hipped woman with twelve loud kids ran me over. “What’s the matter?”

I blushed. I knew I did because I felt my cheeks heat. Sorry, mental inventory list running through my mind. I can’t decide what I want.”

“You want me to cook?” Rand asked carefully.

I felt my head jerk back. “You cook?”

He nodded very enthusiastically. “Sure I do. You just don’t want to eat what I cook. I suck at it.”

This did not surprise me. He was the youngest of six brothers. He was also the youngest son of a fabulous mom. I’m fairly sure that he didn’t get to cook very often.

I rolled my eyes and started walking having made my choice for dinner, breakfast and lunch for tomorrow and the next day. If I worked it right possibly even Tuesday. I would go real shopping later. I just needed a few things right now. When I was done and leading us to the checkout Rand seemed genuinely confused. He thought that we were getting dinner for tonight. We were rung up and I paid as he loaded up the cart. He scowled at me. I hid a grin. We had the same check out girl. “Your little one like the stuff?” She had asked as she scanned items.
