Read The Lighter Side of Large Online
Authors: Becky Siame
Once the travel arrangements are made, I hang up. “What was that about?” Jae asks, intrigued by my laughter. Before I can reply, my phone rings again.
“Hello?” I say.
“Ms White? This is Kelly at the Sunrise Day Surgery Centre. I’m calling to see when you want to reschedule your surgery.”
I cover the phone. “It’s the daystay centre,” I giggle at Jae. “I forgot to cancel my surgery.” I uncover the phone. I have the money now to get rid of my chicken wings or pay back the loan. It’s an easy decision. “Thank you, but I won’t be getting surgery.” I hit the end call button, drop my phone into my purse, and smile at Jae.
“Are you going to tell me what’s going on, or do I need to kiss it out of you?” Jae asks, taking my hand.
“I have just been offered a book deal,” I reply.
Jae’s eyes light up. “That’s fantastic. Who made the offer? What’s the book going to be about?”
“No, no,” I shake my head and stand, pulling Jae up with me. “Let’s talk later. Right now I want to get on the dance floor and show off my man.”
“But what if my lava lava comes undone?” he panics.
I stand on my tip-toes - I discarded the shoes when we arrived at the reception hall - and kiss his nose. “I don’tmind. I love you as you are.”
“And I love you as you are, Bella,” Jae replies, and returns the kiss on my lips. “By the way, what are you doing next weekend?”
“Next weekend? I don’t know. Why?” I ask, wrapping my arms around his neck.
He pulls me close. “How does skydiving sound?”
