Touch of Eden (15 page)

My whole world has changed for the better since she became such an important part of it. I couldn't ask for anything more than she gives me.  I'm sure living with her won't be easy at times. She can be so hard on me and so fucking annoying. But I need her desperately. All of her wild loving, however it comes. Sometimes I want to strangle her and kiss her like crazy at the same time. But I wouldn't want her any other way.  I'm in love with her just the way she is. She's my very own slice of paradise.

We drop in to see Father and call in on Luke and it's almost eleven when we finally make our way across the floodlit back lawn. I stop her in the rose arch tunnel. I pick out my white rose gift that I left there earlier and place it in her hand.

Josh it's beautiful, thank you.” She reaches up to kiss me, her warm fingers around the back of my neck. I'm beside myself with love and excitement as I kiss her back. I'm turning into a proper old Romeo these days. Nate would be so impressed with me if he knew. I hold her around the waist and we walk lazily across the grass towards the tree but I don't stop there.

It's another beautiful moonlit night, rather chilly but so still and calm. I've brought my torch for this part of our evening. I walk around the tree and light our way through the small wooded area towards the lake beyond. It's a wilderness area, left to nature. There's a large old tree trunk lying next to the water. It's the perfect spot with the moonlight glistening on the lake. Very romantic and wild. I guide her the final few yards to the tree trunk with my torch as we swish through the long grass. I sit her down in her pretty white dress and she looks up at me with a beautiful, curious sweet expression, holding her rose. I'm almost breathless with love right now.

“It's so lovely out here at night.” She looks up at the star studded sky and then drops her gaze to look across the dark expanse of glittering water with its patchy swirls of mist.

It's about to get even lovelier.” I sit down next to her, my heart pounding like mad, placing the torch on my lap, illuminating the small space around us.

Oh really, what do you have in mind?”

Lots of things, but one really big thing at the moment.”

That sounds so good and I'm so ready for your big thing.”

Not for this you're not...

I
take
my very expensive offering out of my back pocket. I hope and pray she likes it and that it fits.

I pick up her hand and slip the ring on it.

She gasps in shock.

What about that? It fits. Now you'll have to…..”

She silences me with a sudden kiss, her hands around my face.

“Later Josh. I want to love you first.” Her hands move up to my head, rubbing me into a frenzy of  feeling. We slip onto the ground, into the tall cool grass. She lies on top of me, her hair all around us. Her hands are on me, everywhere.

Right now the touch of Eden is all I want, there's nothing else like it in the whole world.
