"You didn't threaten him?" I question in disbelief, knowing
that cant be true.
"No, I did. But I told him he wasn't going to work ever
again. Not just in this city, but everywhere." He
clarifies.
I smile sadly. "As much as I hate the man, you can't do that.
I don't want our lives to involve him in anyway. I don't want to
waste a day thinking about the him. Not even for
revenge."
"You don't want me to do anything to him?" He asks,
disappointed.
"You fired him. That will look bad to anyone hiring him.
Please, lets just pretend he doesn't exist."
"Anything for you, Angel. Although, he's getting off
light."
-End flashback-
I wish it
could've been different. I haven't thought about William in the
past two months yet today it's unavoidable. I wish I had a
real father, but Conrad Novak has been the closest thing to a
father I could ask for. He and Andrea have taken me in and accepted
me as a part of there family and I couldn't be happier.
"Are you
sure you want to do this?" Conrad teases as we wait for our cue to
walk down the isle.
I giggle.
"Yes, I'm sure."
"Good. I
don't think anyone else could take him."
I smile
at his joke. "Thank you, for walking me down the isle and
everything else."
"Its an
honor." He replies, just as the wedding planner nods at us to start
our slow procession down the isle.

I see
Cindy and smile. I've made her my maid of honor. After confessing
that she was the one that told me about Williams deception, he cut
all ties with her. How a father can blame his daughter for his
misdeeds is beyond me. She moved out and into my old apartment. I
even convinced her to take over working at Esmeralda's and both of
them are enjoying the new arrangement. I think Cindy is really
starting to see that she is more then what her parents told her she
was and for once she's happy.
Julia is
standing next to Cindy looking beautiful and happy as well. She's
been dating Dave for the last month and Dave told me he's going to
marry her one day. Knowing Dave I have no doubt that he will. I see
the way he looks at her, a lot like Ruxin looks at me. It's more
then love, its deeper and truer.
I spot
Xavier in the front row on my side of the isle. He's aplogized
about everything and we've gone back to being friends. Not that
Ruxin likes the arrangement, but I know there's nothing between us
but friendship and so does Xavier.
When my
eyes find Ruxin's, I see he has relieved look on his face. We watch
each other every step I take and my heart swells a little more. I
love this man and he loves me. How did this happen? With
blackmail.... I love blackmail.

It took
longer then I thought to get moved into the new house. I wanted
everything to be perfect and Eva happy. Well, as happy as Eva can
be. She is due to give birth in another week and has been feeling
tired and uncomfortable for the last month.
I pull
the car up to the gates and the sensor opens them automatically.
"Angel, we're here." I say, quietly waking her up.
She stirs
and opens her eyes. This isn't the first time shes seen the big two
story white colonial style mansion, but this is the first time
she'll see the renovated inside. I park the car as close to the
door as possible and get out running to her side and opening the
door. I help her out and up the steps to the front door. Mom is
here to help with any last minute details and holds the door open
for us.
"I
finally get to see the babies room?" Eva asks, excitedly and
hugging my mom hello.
"Yes,
finally." I say, just as excited. I have worked on every inch of
that room until it was exactly what I wanted. We walk to the second
story and directly across from the master bedroom is the babies
room. "Are you ready?" I ask.
"Yes,
open it already!"
I turn
the knob throwing open the door. The pale pink walls, white carpet
and flowery pink bedding makes me smile. The name Serena is spelled
out above the crib is white letters hanging by pink bows. "Its
perfect" She gushes and I can't help but agree.
"Oh,
shit." She says, suddenly alarmed.
"Did I
forget something? I know the bedding isn't going to stay, but its
for looks right-"
"My water
broke." She interrupts, grabbing my arm.
"No,
you're not due for a week." I state, trying not to
panic.
She gives
me a scathing look. "Well, tell that to your daughter."
"Mom!" I
shout, calling her from down staires. Looking at wet drops on the
hardwood floor I ask, "What do I do? Do I clean this up? Good thing
you weren't on the carpet."
"Ruxin.
Go get the overnight bag." Eva replies, annoyed.
"What is
it?" Mom, questions running to the top of the stairs.
"Eva's,
water broke." I tell her. Her mouth drops open. "I have everything
set. The car is packed and the car-seat is already in. I need you
to call the hospital and tell them we're on our way. The number is
programmed into the house phone its #1."
"You have the hospital on speed-dial?" Eva
asks in disbelief, shaking her head. "You're unbelievable,
Ruxin."
"I wanted
to be prepared. You'll thank me in the end."
I take
her hand helping her down the stairs and out to the car. I get in
behind the steering wheel and bring up the hospital on the GPS, its
already programmed to take the fastest route. I drive quickly
following the map and get to the hospital in twenty minutes. Eva
hasn't had any major contractions and I am grateful for
that.
After
parking I grab the overnight bag and help Eva out of the car. We
walk to the entrance and take the elevator to the maternity ward.
We're taken back and Eva is tested to make sure her water really
broke. When the test is positive we're given a room and Eva is
dressed in a gown and put into bed. Ten minutes later her
contractions start getting worse. It's impossible to watch the pain
on her face. I pace not knowing what to do.
Eva Novak
When the
contractions really start to hit they're one after the other. When
the last one stops I notice that Ruxin is pacing and his face is
pale.
"Ruxin,
stop its okay." I assure him.
He shakes
his head and turns towards the door when it opens. The nurse comes
in. "Get her something for the pain." He demands.
"Ruxin!"
I yell, going into another contraction.
"Look at
her! Help her!" He yell and I can tell he's panicking.
"Sir, you
have to calm down." The nurse demands walking to the bed. She
checks my cervix and her face is surprised. "You've reached six
centimeters, would you like an epidural?"
"Yes,
please." I reply, close to begging.
After
another ten minutes the anesthesiologist comes in and administers
the epidural. The relief is instant and I lay back down, the pain
gone.
I can
tell I'm not the only one feeling better. Ruxin finally sits down
in the chair next to the bed and takes my hand in his. "I'm sorry."
He apologizes.
"Its
fine. I'm sure lots of dads react how you did." I reply,
smiling.
Pushing
for an two hours is exhausting and when little Serena Meghan Novak
is born 7 lbs 8 oz and 21 inches long she's prefect. She has
beautiful dark hair like her fathers and can scream just as loud. I
watch as Ruxin rocks her in his chair looking lovingly at her face,
completely in enamored with his daughter. This is what a real man
is, a father.
