150 Minecraft Secrets You've Never Seen Before: The Secrets Handbook (7 page)

51. Kill Endermen Quickly

Endermen are known for their slithery ways where they teleport in and out of your view. It's very infuriating. One second he's there, the next…he's gone somewhere else!

Trying to kill an Endermen is almost impossible since they are always moving in and out of your view. The quickest way to kill an Enderman is to hit them in the legs. Of course, you should wear a pumpkin on your head as well so you can look at them while attacking. Since they won't be able to teleport once hit in the legs, they will find it much more difficult to get away from you. Keep hitting them in the legs whilst aring a pumpkin on your head, and you should defeat them!

52. TNT Protection

To protect yourself from a TNT explosion, all you have to do is place a glass block beside it.

So, if your friends start messing with you by placing TNT in your house or whatever, you can SMUGLY place down a glass block beside the TNT knowing that you or your house won't get much damage!

This also works with cobwebs, but those are a little out of reach in times of need. Instead, quickly pull out a glass block and you're set! You'll put an end to their so called "smart" trolling.

53. Quick Creeper Protection

A creeper is walking towards you and you start to fight it, but it doesn't budge. It comes close to your beloved house that took you so long to build, panic sweeps across you as you realize that the creeper will explode and destroy your house…what do you do?!

Hit the creeper with a water bucket, so that the creeper gets stuck in water. Because creepers can't make any environmental damage in water. You need to perfect your technique though by practicing a few times. However, once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to avoid any creeper attack. Now that calls for bragging rights!

54. Use Vines To Build

When you want to build downwards whether it's for a mid-air staircase or if you're building in the air – you should use vines!

All you have to do is place a vine on the side of the block (the block that you want to build downwards from) and then, place the cursor (the white cross) on the vine and place your desired block on the vine. Your block will appear below the floor, right where you want it!

55. Blocks Above Lake Reduce Chances of Catching Fish

If you've got blocks of any kind hovering above a water source such as tree foliage, an extreme hill overhang or whatever, you will have a reduced chance of catching fish. In the screenshot below, you'll see that I included blocks for purposes of demonstration but those wouldn't occur in an actual game.

This tip is not very well known and many players make the mistake of fishing underneath tree leaves or under the overhang of an extreme hill. Watch out and beware of any hovering blocks over your water source!

56. Got Poisoned? Reverse It's Effects

If you accidentally eat rotten flesh or a spider eye, and start to get poisoned, don't worry!

All you have to do is drink milk and you'll reverse the status effects of the poisoning. Instead, you'll go back to full health again! Now, that's a happy ending.

You can also use milk to reverse the effects of potions (GOOD or bad, so be careful). You don't want to waste a good potion by drinking milk. That would be an extreme pity!

57. Fill A Large Area With Water Quickly

If you want to build a large swimming pool, a nice quiet lake by your house or just want a TON of water for no apparent reason (maybe farming) – follow this tip!

If you've ever tried filling up a large area with water, you'll realize that it's quite long and tedious. It could take you a good ten minutes to fill up a large area with water and that's including an infinite water source nearby!

Instead, make a diagonal line in the area which goes from one corner to the other corner. You can imagine the diagonal line in your head or else mark it off with wool or even glass. Whatever makes the line as obvious as possible.

Then, get your water bucket and place down the water on each of the squares. Repeat this for all of the squares.

And…you should get a result like this in record time. You can then remove the diagonal line by replacing the blue blocks with sand or whatever the rest of the floor is made of.

58. The Best Bonemeal Trees

If you want to grow a tree quickly, all you have to do is place Bonemeal on it and the sapling will turn into a tree in literally half a second! However, most of the time you will end up with a small tree that is about four to five blocks in height and isn't well-stocked with wood.

This trick will help you create the best tree possible that has the most wood. Let's begin!

Firstly, place a sapling (of any kind) on the ground. Then, one block above the sapling, create a square surrounding the sapling leaving one square in the centre open for the sapling to grow through. In this demo, I used glass blocks. Remember that the glass blocks in the image below are one block above the actual sapling, they aren't on the ground. Place Bonemeal on the sapling.

Your resulting mega Bonemeal tree should look like the one below. It's a lot bigger than the typical tree that grows when you use Bonemeal on a sapling without the surrounding blocks.

59. Sprint Across Oceans In Survival With Ease

Want to get to survival island or Mooshroom island and fast? No worries, then!

You can sprint across the oceans using lilypads. All you have to do is sprint and jump whilst dropping lilypads as you go. You'll need quite a lot of lilypads though, to get across the entire ocean or even to an island. You can lots of lilypads around swamps, in lakes and in the sea.

Remember this: Drop a lilypad, jump and drop a lilypad once you hit the sea and jump again. Keep doing this until you reach your destination!

You can follow this method for any water source at all including rivers, lakes, lagoons and more!

As a quick fact, Lily pads are only 1/64
th
of a block tall. Now that's thin!
