Chapter Three

A coolness caressing her cheeks woke her.  Her eyes opened to see Connor sitting next to her brushing a cool wet rag over her face.  “What happened?”

“Your guess is as good as mine.  What were you thinking about?”  His question made her flush.

“I don’t know.”  That was a lie.  She knew exactly what she was thinking about.  She was thinking about him strolling towards her.  Throwing her up against the wall and taking her the way she had been craving since the first time she had seen him. She would forever be grateful he didn’t have his hand on Chance while her thoughts were uncontrollable like that.

“Think.  We have to know what it was going through your mind at the moment you blasted that energy through us both.”

“I did what?”

“I’m really not sure.  Your skin was on fire and the next thing I know I was waking up with a killer headache and you were still passed out burning up with fever.”

“Fever?”  She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.  What did the fever have to do with anything, all she wanted was for him to touch her.

“Yeah.  You’re still burning up.”  It was then that she felt a cool breeze and looked down at herself.  She lay on her bed wearing nothing under the coolness of a sheet.

“Did you undress me?”  Anger flowed through her veins.
Why would I even ask that unless suddenly Chance could undress people, of course he did.
Clutching the sheet to her breast she glared at him. Sending her anger to him without her even being aware of it.

As if he could see something growing inside her he stood and backed up a few feet.   “It isn’t what you think.  You have been out for over an hour and your fever was rising.  I had to do something.”

“You had to do something?  Just what exactly did you do?”  She screamed sitting up clutching the sheet to her bare body.  Her body that was raging with fire, she could feel it heating up.

“Nothing.  I took your clothes off yes.  But look under the blankets.  I didn’t take off your panties.  I didn’t know you wouldn’t be wearing a bra.  But it doesn’t matter.  I did what I had to do to cool you off.”

She stared at him.  No words leaving her mouth.  She felt her anger inside of her growing and then it was as if someone inside her was telling her to chill out.  Calm down, take a deep breath.  He did nothing wrong.  She closed her eyes shaking her head.

“What?  What is it?  Keira talk to me.”  It was more of an order than a request.

“I don’t know.  I can hear someone talking to me.  But it is as if they are inside me, but that can’t be true, can it?”  She braved a look back his way and the startled look on his face scared her even more.

“Keira, do you know anything about your parents?”

“No.  I don’t.  What do they have to do with this?”

“I’m not for sure.  I know one of your parents were an Evol like you.  The other one must have been….”  His voice trailed off.  He couldn’t believe what he was about to say.  He had never heard of a hybrid before.

“Must have been what?”

“I think possibly a werewolf.”

“A what.  You’re joking.”  She began laughing.  There was no way.  Werewolf.

“I’m not joking.  Keira there are things in this world that you wouldn’t believe.  Werewolves, vampires, witches, wizards, evols, they exist.  Yes I know you were half ass being sarcastic with your ‘What am I a vampire I don’t want blood’ comment.  Now, just as I am a conduit and a former.  Some of us protect vampires, witches; some of us protect an evols.  This is not something to take lightly.”

“Ok so if I’m half evol and half werewolf can I change into a wolf then?”

“I don’t know.  There has never been someone like you before.  The things that you can do could be endless.”

She watched as he moved around the room.  Pacing the floor.  It wasn’t until he stilled that she saw the small cut to his forehead just at his hairline.

She stood racing from the bed to his side.  “You’re hurt.  Did I do that?  I am so sorry.”  She moved his hair away gently looking at the injury.  It wasn’t until his hand gripped her shoulders and spun her around with such force that her back collided with his chest that she realized she hadn’t taken the sheet with her.

“Keira….”  Whatever he had meant to say didn’t come out of his mouth.  His breath brushed against her neck and that was all it took to set her skin on fire again.  She began to burn and this time she trembled.  His hands left her arms and the inner being inside her raged with anger.  Wanting his touch even more now she turned back around staring at him.

“Keira,,, calm down.  I know what’s going on. I know what happened, what caused the sudden jolt of energy that threw me across the room.  You have to breathe through it.”  He knew exactly what was happening at this point.  The wolf in her was about to go into heat for the first time.  During the first heat cycle wolves experience a fever and uncontrollable emotions.  It is at that point in the cycle they also make their first change.

The wolf inside her needed to be claimed and claimed quick or she would change any minute and being a hybrid Connor didn’t know what would happen after that. No one knew.

Connor took a step towards her as he was going to have to play it by ear.  “Keira do you trust me?  I need to know you trust me or this will not work.  You have to understand that this is a temporary fix to your problem.”

Keira trembled as she gripped the chest behind her.  She remained unclothed but at this moment she didn’t care.  The burning running through her was beginning to cause her pain.  Actual pain that she wanted to stop.

“Oh God, yes I trust you.  Please make it stop.  Make the pain stop.”  She begged not knowing what was about to come but if it would make the pain ease, she would do whatever he asked of her.

His hands felt cool to her skin as he brushed the hair away from her neck.  His breath blew across her neck and shoulder and her inner self was tearing at her insides to get out.  His tongue licked across the tender spot of her neck shoulder junction before he sunk his teeth there marking her.

The wolf inside her howled in excitement before calming.  The pain began to ease as he bit even harder.  The fire scorching her skin slowly began to die.  Her breathing became more controlled.

His teeth eased its bite.  He licked over the mark he had just placed and then kissed it gently.  He hadn’t expected his body to react the way it did.  He was aroused and the harder he had to bite to calm her the harder he grew.  The harder his cock strained to get out from behind the zipper that was holding it in.

His hands moved up and down her arms, caressing her.  Giving her enough touch to keep in her in the calming state she was in.

“I don’t understand.  Why did you bite me?”  She kept her head planted to his chest not wanting to look at him when he explained why his bite had worked.

“Because your wolf is about to come into heat.  She is almost there.  She needed to be claimed or mated with.  I bit you.  That is how wolves show affection.  That is what she is wanting.”

“I’m in heat.  Are you shitting me?”  She quickly moved to the bed, grabbing the sheet she wrapped it around herself before turning back around to look at him.  “This is unbelievable. Okay any minute now I expect the camera crew to appear.  Am I the next episode of Caught on Camera?”

“No, I’m not shitting you. There is no camera crew. It’s what she wants.  It’s what she will continue to want until you mate.”

“Until I mate.  I don’t understand.  Are you saying that I have to have sex before this will stop?”

“Yes.  That is what will eventually have to happen.  But it’s more than that.  You have to mate.”

Keira blushed.  She had never had sex before and now she was going to be forced into it, and it wouldn’t be from her wanting to, but from the wolf inside her wanting it.

“I can’t.”

“You will have to.  Eventually.”

Who?”  There she had asked it.  She had to know if he would be the one to mate with her.

“We can cross that bridge when we get there.”  She watched as he turned walking out of the room.  Leaving her to assume that it either wouldn’t be him, or he didn’t want to be the one.

Tears burned her eyes.  She grabbed her jammies she saw laying on the floor and put them back on.  She curled up in bed and let the flood gates open.  She heard Chance cry out at the door and Connor speaking to him.  “It’s ok boy.  She just needs a minute alone.  Come on.”  She heard their footsteps leave the door.

Question after question went through her mind.  Why was this happening?  What if she didn’t want to be what she was?  How could she stop it?  And then the worst of all.  She would not mate with anyone.  The person she mated with would be someone she trusted enough to take what she had not given to anyone before.  And the truth about it was the only one she trusted to do that was Connor.

His apparent lack of wanting to was obvious to her.  So she would just learn to fight it off, or maybe he would bite her again if needed.  But she would not mate with anyone.

Chapter Four

Keira couldn’t believe she had cried herself to sleep.  When she woke, she went to the closet and dressed in a pair of jeans and a long sleeve t shirt.  She walked out to find Chance lying at her door.  He stood immediately; tail wagging he licked at her hand.  Keira knew that was his way of making sure she was okay.  Telling him she was fine wouldn’t be enough after all the emotions he felt from her last night.

“It’s okay boy.  I’m alright.  See.”  She spoke to him as she rubbed his head, easing any tension and worry it was clear that he had.

She turned the corner to find Connor sitting at the table eating what looked like an omelet and drinking a cup of coffee.  He was the first to speak.  “Good morning.  I made you an omelet.  Have a seat.”  He stood pulling out a chair waiting for her to sit.  She could smell a strange odor.  It didn’t smell bad but it was something she had never smelled before.

She watched as he moved to the microwave and pulled out the omelet bringing it to her.  His fingers trembled slightly as he sat the plate down in front of her.  It was then she noticed how strong the scent was.  She turned her nose closer to him and took a deep breath.  It was definitely coming from him.  But it wasn’t his body’s scent.  Something else.  “It’s only been done for a few minutes so it still should be hot.  Would you like some coffee?”

As he moved away to fetch the coffee the scent faded.  She watched trying to figure it out.  As if the smell had some kind of hidden secret to it.  She couldn’t help but to begin to feel excited as it imbedded into her nostrils.  The inner wolf inside her began to feel playful and giddy.  But she didn’t have time for that now and after last night there wouldn’t be any playing with him.

“Black please.”  She wanted to ask him so many questions but then she didn’t know if she really even wanted the answers to them.  So she would start with the less disturbing ones first.  “I noticed something before I passed out.  I didn’t realize until I seen your head that it was your blood that I was smelling.”

“You smelled my blood?”

“Before I passed out I could smell blood.”

“That would be the wolf in you.  You will be able to smell things you have never smelled before.  Each emotion that someone you are around is having you will be able to smell.  Like fear for example.  Each emotion has a very different smell.  Your wolf has really sensitive senses.  Your hearing, eyesight, taste, smell and even touch will be more sensitive the closer she gets to coming out.”

“What do you mean coming out?”
