The truth is I may never be happy, but I’m working on it. I really am. And you know what, Adam is still right here by my side. He’s seen me at my worst, and he still loves me. He wants to be with me. I always hated myself and berated myself for not being better, but I know now that I am the best person I can be as long as I try. I must try to live. Will Adam and I be together forever? I don’t know, but he is here now. I love him so much it hurts sometimes, but he won’t bring me darkness. It’s only me who can send me to the dark place. My future is nothing but a blank canvas just waiting to be painted. I have all the brushes and paints I need, and now it’s up to me to paint the life I want, and I
want
to be there. I think it will be beautiful, and I want to be a part of all the beauty. I know now that there are dark days, but there are also the light days. When those days happen, they are so beautiful, and they almost make the dark days worth it. I know I’m sad, but one day I know those dark days will be fewer and fewer. I think I can be happy one day.
I guess it’s time to start writing myself a new chapter.
BRYAN ELLIS
grew up in New York and graduated from SUNY New Paltz with his BA in English because all he ever wanted to be was a writer. When he isn’t watching horror films, he creates stories inside his head and performs them with Legos, something he’s done since birth. Bryan loves horror films, often found quoting them and forcing his friends and family to watch them. As an openly gay male, he feels it is important to give a voice to people who are normally silent. When he isn’t writing, he spends his free time with his boyfriend, Alex Maccaro.
