I spent so many nights staring at the ceiling thinking about your eyes and your fiery personality. I knew then that I wanted to be in your world, but I didn’t know how to be worthy of you. The past eight months have taught me a lot of lessons. I hope that I’ve proven to you that I will do everything in my power to make you happy and keep you safe. I love you, Christin, and I would be the happiest man on the planet if you would be my wife.”
I put the box on the bed and hold my breath, waiting for her answer. She looks at the ring and back at me a couple times before shaking her head.
“You’re proposing to me while we’re both naked and still recovering from a hot set?”
“Are you really busting my balls about this?”
“Yes, I am. Jude, you are a crazy man,” she says as she continues to shake her head. I start to get scared that she’s going to say no.
“I’m crazy about you,” I say with a smile.
“You’re cheesy, too. But I can’t deny that I love you, and you do make me feel safe.”
She stops talking and stares down at the ring. My stomach starts to turn over, and I feel lightheaded. I don’t know what I’ll do if she turns me down.
The feel of her hand on my cheek brings me out of my panic-stricken thoughts. My eyes find hers, and she’s smiling.
“I would be very happy to be your wife, Jude Schafer.” My face breaks out in the biggest grin, and I pull the ring out of the box to slide on her finger. I kiss her hand and then stand to kiss her lips.
“Thank you. I know that you take pride in being a strong, independent woman. Hopefully, though, we’ll be stronger as an us,” I say as I stare into her eyes.
“I think we will be,” she says as she pulls me down to the bed and captures my lips. I know that there is no place on earth I’d rather be than with her.
