Lynnia

It was the day. Today was the day that she would have confirmation on whether or not she was carrying Dario’s baby or not. Lynnia hated that she told her best friend and the man she truly loved a little white lie. Okay, so it was like a ginormous, white elephant lie. She needed him to get over the idea that she would be waiting in the wings for him to come and “lay it down” whenever he needed a “Lynnie fix.” That time had passed. Making it appear as if she was carrying another person’s child, a man that he knew nothing about, was the best thing for all involved. As much as she hated that she’d hurt him, she had to do what was necessary to protect herself.

“Ms. Norton?” an older woman called her name and searched the faces of the women in the room until Lynnia stood up. “Dr. Malone will see you now.”

Seeing this man was for her own benefit. There is probably no reason for her seeing a second doctor, but some part of her brain refused to recognize the initial diagnosis she received a few weeks ago. The other part of this was a need to be 100% sure that she was actually pregnant. The symptoms weren’t enough. Having her close friend ask her during a sexual encounter wasn’t enough. No. She needed to have a trained professional’s second opinion in order for her to believe it. The hospital could’ve made a mistake. They said themselves that they had issues with the systems that day. She could be walking around under the assumed belief that she was having a baby and there was just some bloating going on.

“That’s a likely story, Lynnie. It’s actually believable if you’re drunk and crazy. You and Dario didn’t exactly take precautions every time.”

She mumbled the entire walk to the exam room. When she went to enter the room, the nice nurse just smiled at her.

“You’ll find a gown on the edge of the bed. The doctor will be the next person to knock on the door. His physician’s assistant may or may not be with him. Brittney may be in with another patient. See you in a little bit, dear.”

It didn’t take her long to change and it was an even shorter time before Dr. Malone was knocking on the door. Brittney walked in with him. The woman was stunningly gorgeous. How in the hell did this man get anything done with her walking around the office. She smiled at Lynnia and remained in the background as Dr. Malone asked different questions about her medical history.

They left a moment later and she was asked to take a seat on the table. When they returned, they did the usual pretest things. Her blood was drawn, then a few other tests were done, including peeing in a cup. After completing the cervical test, she was asked to get dressed. This time Dr. Malone didn’t leave. He took a seat on the rolling stool directly in front of her.

“Ms. Norton, I believe you know what I’m going to tell you. I think this was just a way for you to finally accept what you already knew. Now, let’s talk about what happens next. I’m going to prescribe you some prenatal medicines. Assuming you wish to continue being my patient, we are going to set up a follow-up appointment for you. We’ll discuss your thoughts on how and where you want to give birth amongst other things. Will the father be joining us then?”

Lynnia had somewhat deflated when he began to talk. The moment he mentioned Dario, she perked right back up.

“Huh? Oh … I … don’t know if he will or not. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the thought of being pregnant. I didn’t know if I should tell him and get his hopes up for nothing if it turned out I wasn’t.”

He nodded his head and made notes in the chart. She felt like his silence was him judging her.

“I mean. I’m going to tell him. It is my plan. I just needed the time. What I’ve told him wasn’t that big of a deal. He’ll be around if I tell him. I know it. I just really want him to … yeah, that’s probably more than you wanted to know.”

“It’s okay. You obviously needed to let that out. I’m going to have Brittney come back and go over the paperwork with you. Fill out as much as you can. They’ll set your next appointment when you are back at the front desk.”

“Thank you, Dr. Malone. I appreciate you seeing me on such short notice.”

“Not a problem. Here’s my card. Feel free to call me whenever you want to. If you have any questions or concerns, I’m available for you.”

“Thank you again. Until next time.”

Brittney came back after she’d finished getting dressed. The questions that she asked were pretty much the standard questions. The only one that Lynnia felt weird about was the father’s name question. She actually hesitated. After thinking about it for a few beats, Lynnia gave Dario’s name. Brittney’s pen faltered when she said his name. It was only for a brief moment before she started writing again. Her last step was to get her vitamins and make her appointment. It didn’t take her long at all.

As she walked back to her car, she let it all sink in. There was no denying it. There was no way around it. She was pregnant and Dario would have to be told the truth because she wouldn’t deny him the opportunity to be part of their child’s life.

The following night

She didn’t know what she was thinking. Why did she let her sisters talk her into coming bowling with them? Lynnia knew these heifas had an idea that Dario would be there with his new arm candy. If she never met the woman, then she would have been content and could go on with her life without having a woman to dwell on. The level of hatred that she was going to expel knowing this woman was part of their lives was quite enough. Having to deal with her in an in-person capacity while being civil was asking a little bit much of her.

The man couldn’t breathe without this woman breathing. She was hanging on his every word and was practically straddling his dick as they all began to get ready to start their games. As they sat waiting their turns, her sisters were overflowing books of information.

Lynnia’s sisters eagerly shared all they could about this new side piece. Her name was Lindsay Goodman. She worked as a waitress at one of the places that they all really enjoyed eating, Parker’s. The place was effectively ruined knowing the prissy trick was working there. Looking at her now, Lynnia could see that
the lovely Lindsay
had so many wonderful qualities. Caramel brown hair, dark brown, oval-shaped eyes, and the perfect little ponytail at the base of her neck defined her heart-shaped face. The ponytail looked like it was one of those clip-ons it was so perfect and straight. The bang she wore was swooped to the right just above her eye. The woman had the perfect, perky boobs to go with that flawlessly coifed hair. A cute waist, tight ass, and toned, tanned legs screamed “head cheerleader” or “drama queen.” The woman looked too good to be true and Lynnia found herself truly hating the bitch even before she was introduced. She was also the female from the hospital. That put a new spin on things. This just kept getting better and better.

She was going to need something to keep her mouth busy if she was stuck sitting with this woman in the area for the next two hours.

“I’m going to get me something to snack on. I’ll be back in a few.”

Chyra and Nyema nodded their heads in acknowledgement. Lynnia took her time strolling over to the area. When she made it to the concession stand, she really reviewed what was available before finally making her decision.

“Oh my goodness. I’m so starving. I thought I would look horrible coming over here after having just eaten. When I saw you up here, I figured what the hell. You only live once, might as well enjoy every aspect of it, right?”

Lynnia didn’t acknowledge her. She waited for the woman to come back with her change and tried to make a clean getaway. It might’ve worked if the little cow hadn’t stepped directly in her path.

“You and I won’t have any problems, right? I mean. I know you guys have this like weird kismet thing between you, but you’re not with him. I figured you had your reasons for not wanting to be with him, which worked out perfectly for me.”

Lynnia stood still for a few moments before taking a step back. There was no getting around this. It didn’t matter that she’d tried to avoid this situation. Her goal was to get something to eat and make sure this confrontation didn’t happen.

“Just know, you brought this on yourself. You may be enjoying him now. Whatever he is allowing you to enjoy of him is only a short-term deal. No, we are not together at the moment. The ‘kismet’ thing you referred to is a greater than you could ever imagine. We will forever be linked. I hold his past, his present, and quite possibly his future in my very being. You, sweetheart, are my stand-in for the moment. If you don’t want me to embarrass your ass, you will not bring all of your special in my face again. Okally dokally. Okally dokally.” Lynnia turned to the woman behind the counter and grabbed her food. “Thank you, ma’am.”

Lindsay’s mouth flopped open and closed a couple times. Zoie and Wynter were almost to where she’d been standing talking to the new woman in Dario’s life.

“You’re too late. I’ve already said what needed to be said. She asked for it. Be careful what you wish for. I bet she’ll think twice about asking certain questions next time.”

“Damn! L-boogie, one day you’re going to meet your match.”

Wynter’s word couldn’t have rang more true if she had spoken them herself.

“I already have.”

Lynnia knew she had. Her hope was either she’d quickly get over him or he’d be able to forgive her for what she’d done.
