Dana Walrath is the granddaughter of survivors of the Armenian genocide of 1915. She earned a PhD in anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania and an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts. This story was completed during the year she spent as a Fulbright scholar in Armenia while also working on a project that builds on her award-winning graphic memoir series Aliceheimer’s. When not in the mountains of Armenia, she lives in the mountains of Vermont.
