“
Bobby
,” Marie sang and wrapped her arms around his neck. “You look great. I love the hair.”
“You look amazing yourself kid. Man, I’ve missed this face,” Bobby said kissing his sister on the cheek.
Bobby placed her back on her feet and stepped aside for Sam to have his turn. Bobby stood with his arms across his chest looking like the proud overprotective older brother he was. Paige’s heart warmed at the sight, she loved the way he was with his family.
She was so focused on Bobby, and his reaction to his sister being back with the family, that she didn’t miss what happened next. The other young woman that had walked out moved to Bobby’s side pushing her breasts against his arm and smiling up at him.
Bobby tensed as the skinny blonde gave him a toothy grin. He shifted his stance to place distance between them but she followed and placed a hand on his arm. Paige watched as she lifted on her tip toes and said something into his ear. Bobby shook his head curtly and said something back to her while knocking her hand from his arm.
Paige couldn’t help the pang of jealousy that shot through her. Sure, he had rebuffed the young girl but there was something about her that had the hairs standing up on the back of Paige’s neck. Whatever Bobby said to her had her glaring daggers at Camille, who was seated on the other side of where Bobby had been sitting.
Paige was amused by this and watched the girl’s gaze rack over Camille appraisingly. When she found her appraisal lacking, she frowned and tossed her long blonde hair over her shoulder and turned her attention back to Bobby, who had moved closer to his family as they all gathered around Marie.
Minnie and James were happily doting over their daughter as she glowed with the praise and affection of her family. Paige didn’t want to disturb the family moment so she waited in her seat as Camille and Julia had done. Bobby reached for Marie tucking her under his arm and making his way around the table heading for where Paige sat.
“Oh my God, Paige,” Marie squealed and gave Paige a hug. “Chad this is Paige, the lawyer at Daddy’s firm I was telling you about. You are so the reason I change my major back to law.”
“It’s good to see you again,” Paige smiled at Marie. Marie had interned for a few weeks with Paige and they had hit it off. James had told her that Marie couldn’t stop talking about her and that she had actually change her major from business to law after those few weeks.
“You look great. We have to catch up. I know, we can do the spa in the morning and have some girl time,” Marie said excitedly.
“Slow down brat,” Bobby chuckled and moved behind Paige wrapping his arms around her waist. “Paige hasn’t been feeling so good the last couple of days. Let’s wait to see how she feels before you guys make any plans.” Bobby kissed the top of Paige’s head as he gently swayed her in his arms.
“I think I’ll be fine to go to the spa. I’ve been wanting go before we go back home anyway,” Paige said as she craned her neck to look up at Bobby. He just gave her a little squeeze and kissed her lips.
“Wait, you two are together. Seriously Bobby, you don’t tell me anything,” Marie pouted. “That’s it, Paige, our spa day will be Bobby’s treat for sucking as a brother.”
Paige laughed.
“I have no problem treating two of my favorite girls to a day of anything they want. Camille can go with you guys and I’ll give her my card,” Bobby shrugged.
“Good,” Marie said with a cunning smile. “Oh where are my manners? Paige, I want you to meet my bestie and my boyfriend. Whitney and Chad this is the coolest woman ever and this beautiful woman here is my brother’s assistant, Camille.”
Marie moved into Camille’s embrace as she stood from her seat. Whitney made her way around the table to them. She held her hand out to Paige, while now appraising Paige and shooting her the same daggers she had been shooting at Camille earlier. Paige took her hand as Whitney gave her a weak hand shake.
Paige was sure she didn’t like this little thing.
She would do well to steer clear of my path if she knows what is best for her
. Paige smiled at her own thoughts.
“Wow, we have something in common, Paige,” Whitney smiled brightly.
Paige noticed the tension in Bobby’s body and his clenched jaw. Paige suddenly felt defensive. There was clearly something between him and this girl.
Paige looked at Whitney with her blonde pin straight hair and her rail thin shape. She was as opposite from Paige as it gets. Paige didn’t just feel jealous; she was questioning what Bobby wanted with her when he had women like this after him, women that made sense to his world.
“What would that be,” Paige said as brightly as she could.
“Bobby and I used to dated,” she chimed with a smug smile.
“Whitney,” Bobby bit out. “I wouldn’t make claims that have no truth if I were you.”
“Oh Bobby, lighten up. Let’s just agree to call it what we want to call it. Fact is we happened,” she spoke while examining her nails like she didn’t care much about any of it.
“Dinner is getting cold,” James said with a hard edge. “Marie, please take the seats at the end of the table with your guests.”
Marie glared at Whitney then gave Bobby and Paige an apologetic smile. Whitney ignored Marie and slithered up next to Bobby placing her hand on his arm once again. She gave him a flirty smile then turned to Paige.
“Paige, it’s been so long since I’ve had a chance to catch up with Bobby. Do you mind switching seats with me so we can catch up on old times,” Whitney purred as if she were so grown up and Paige was a small child.
“You know what Whitney, that wouldn’t be a problem at all. I’m not feeling so well. If you would all please excuse me, I’m going to call it a night,” Paige said as sweetly as she could.
“I’ll come with you,” Bobby insisted placing a hand on the small of her back.
Paige stepped out of his reach and shook her head. “No, you stay. Your dad wanted you all to have a family dinner. I’ll be fine.”
Bobby frowned but nodded his accent. Closing the distance between them he cupped her face and crushed his lips to hers in a pleading, passionate kiss. Paige didn’t know what he was pleading for, but she didn’t feel safe holding her heart open before him anymore.
“I love you,” Bobby said loud enough for everyone outside to hear. Paige’s eye flickered over to Whitney who was soaking as she scowled at them.
Paige lifted her chin and looked deep into Bobby’s eyes. “I love you too,” she reassured him. Bobby’s face seemed to relax and he reluctantly released her face as she turned to leave.
Bobby watched her go feeling frustrated and pissed. Whitney meant nothing to him. She had once been a drunken mistake. She pestered him for years and he never had intensions of sleeping with her. She’d just taken advantage of an awful opportunity. It was one of his biggest regrets, one he counted his blessings he got out of without epic damage.
Bobby returned to his seat and sure enough Whitney bounced over and sat in the seat beside him. Bobby groaned inwardly and turned to Camille to ignore her. She wasn’t his type even if he wasn’t in love with Paige. She was one of his baby sister’s best friends and way too young for him.
Her big blue eyes were cold, like she’d seen and did too much in her short life. Her lips always looked like they were painted into a snarl. She had a habit of always having on too much makeup, unlike Paige who rarely wears any and still always looks stunning. Whitney is much too thin and every time she touched him with those long claws, she called hands, his skin crawled.
He still couldn’t figure out how he had slept with her even in a drunken state. Marie had come to stay with him for a couple of days and brought Whitney with her. Bobby had thrown a party at his place and because he didn’t have to drive anywhere he had gotten a little carried away.
He remembered rolling on the condom and passing out before nailing this hot red head to the mattress, but instead waking up with Whitney bouncing those fake tits in his face. It was messy and a low he never thought he would hit. After that he had started to pull away from club Desire more and more, and he wasn’t as willing to hook up with women at parties or clubs.
He’d done his best after that night to avoid Whitney but every time she was around she tried to be clingy and followed him around. He had no clue she was coming this week. He would have to talk to Marie to keep her on a leash.
“You’re looking amazing Bobby,” Whitney purred beside him. When he didn’t respond she placed her hand on his leg under the table. “Maybe we can go for a swim later tonight.”
Bobby’s head whipped around and Whitney startled a little at the look on his face. He shoved her hand away from his leg and pushed his chair back. “Please excuse me everyone. I’m going to be calling it a night. I want to be with my
girlfriend
.” He said curtly as he put emphasis on the word girlfriend.
“Oh dear, please take something up to Paige and make sure you get something as well,” Minnie said with concern in her voice. She looked at Whitney and pressed her lips.
Chapter Twenty Six
P
aige stood in the bathroom mirror with tears streaming down her cheeks. It was the third morning she woke needing to empty her stomach. She was exhausted. She heaved so hard it brought her to tears. She learned to turn on the faucet or the shower to cover the sound and not wake Bobby. But she couldn’t hide the weight loss or the shadows under her eyes every morning. She could see in his face he was concerned but he’d yet to mention it.
Paige did notice that he was more tentative in making sure she ate during lunch and dinner. She guessed he noticed the weight loss. He muttered a few times over the past week that he wanted to go home.
Paige wasn’t sure if it was because she wasn’t looking well or if it was that silly girl, Whitney. She was driving Paige insane, prancing around Bobby in skimpy bikinis when she was going nowhere near any water or a lounger to sunbathing. She always had a hand on Bobby despite him pushing, pulling or shoving her away. The whole thing was causing more tension between Bobby and Paige than was necessary.
Bobby told her what had really happened between them but it still bothered Paige. She wasn’t usually this emotional but she also never cared for anyone this much before. Looking at her reflection now she couldn’t help but feel a little insecure. Paige scowled at herself in the mirror. She needed another spa day and not one interrupted by that twit Whitney.
Resigned on what she would do with her day Paige jumped in the shower to wash the grim away before Bobby stirred and came looking for her. She had locked the door in case he did wake while her face was in the bowl. She found that a nice shower did wonders each morning. By the time she would step out the nausea would be gone and she would be fine until the next morning.
Paige was fooling herself. She knew there was a big white elephant in the middle of the room. She was just choosing not to look at it hoping she was wrong and it wasn’t there after all. She didn’t know how she felt about anything because she wouldn’t allow herself to think about any of it.
Paige finished her shower and stepped onto the rug. She jumped when the pounding on the door broke the silence. Paige reached for a towel and wrapped it around herself quickly.
“Paige, Baby, are you alright in there,” Bobby called out. She could hear the concern in his voice.
“I’m fine, I’ll be out in a sec,” Paige called back. She looked around to make sure she cleaned up any evidence of being sick then went to the door to unlock it.
“Why was the door locked,” Bobby asked with his brows drawn tight as he searched her face.
“Old habit,” Paige said too quickly.
Bobby searched her face more and ran a hand through his hair. “Are you alright?” Bobby asked softly.
“I’m fine. I was just taking a shower,” she shrugged then moved to slip pass him.
Bobby didn’t push. There was already tension between them. They hadn’t made love since the morning before Paige fell sick at the waterfall. Bobby felt like Paige was pulling away from him but he didn’t know what to do to stop it. It was like she had thrown her walls back up. No matter how many times he told her he loved her, she had this look in her eyes.
He knew he said he would take his time with her, but he had become desperate a day ago. He’d gone to his parents for help with something he thought at first would stay as just one of his hopes and dreams, but now that he felt her slipping away action was necessary. He felt like he had to show her what she meant to him.
He knew the games Whitney was playing were getting to Paige but he didn’t care about any of it. He didn’t want Whitney or any other woman other than Paige. He was ready to swipe her off her feet and take her home if he had to. He could tell she wasn’t feeling like herself, she’d dropped a couple of pounds and she looked tired.
Although he knew going home wasn’t going to be an option unless he dragged her there. Since their work load let up some with having locked down the Lieberman and Oreeso cases, Paige had started to really enjoy herself, when she wasn’t annoyed by their circumstances. She needed this vacation as much as he did. He was just sorry it wasn’t turning out the way he had hoped.
Bobby pushed aside his thoughts of helplessness, he was a problem solver. He wanted time with the woman he loved and he wanted to make her feel special, so that was what he was going to do. He quickly formed a plan in his mind and jumped into the shower to set things in motion. Today it would be just the two of them having a romantic day.
Climbing out of the shower Bobby wrapped a towel around his waist and stepped into the bedroom with his hair still dripping. He looked around for Paige but she was gone. He hadn’t been in the shower that long but she had already disappeared.
Bobby stormed over to the dresser angrily; he dropped his towel to the floor and tugged a pair of boxes up before tugging on a pair of navy cargo shorts. Just as he slammed the drawer shut the door opened behind him. Paige walked in the room looking beautiful but confused.
She was in a halter dress that was shorter than he liked for something she would go out in. It was more like a tennis dress than a sundress. Her skin was glowing and her breasts looked full and heavy causing him to harden at the sight.
“Babe, have you seen my phone,” she asked as she empty her purse on the bed.
“No, do you want me to call it. Maybe we’ll hear it ring,” Bobby offered and moved across the room for his phone. He felt himself relax now that he knew Paige hadn’t disappeared for the day and he could still move forward with his plans. He didn’t know what made him think she would leave without saying something. He hated being on edge like this.
“Could you, thank you so much,” Paige sighed and pushed her hands in her hair.
“No problem,” Bobby murmured as he unlocked his phone. He went to pulled up his connects when he saw he had a text from Paige. He opened the text to find an attachment. Clicking on the attachment opened up a file of pictures.
“I can’t believe I lost my phone this is so not like me,” Paige huffed as she stuffed the contents of her bag back inside. “Martha was supposed to email me some important files this morning.”
Bobby was half listening to her as the first picture opened. It was Paige and Nathan on the beach. They were seating side by side watching the sunset. The next picture was of them running through the water together. Paige was laughing looking back at him as he chased her. The last picture was the one that pushed a dagger through his heart.
Paige was standing before Nathan with her hands clutching her skirt and her head thrown back. One of her legs was lifted off the ground and Nathan was on his knees in front of her. From the angle Bobby couldn’t be sure what his so called friend was doing.
All Bobby could think about was how he had first tasted her in that same position. Bobby’s jaw worked as he tried to control his temper. He couldn’t tear his eyes from the pictures. He couldn’t see straight less on try to think.
“Where did you go last night after dinner,” Bobby said with a bit of an edge to his voice.
Paige narrowed her eyes at him and tilted her head. “Did you really not hear me say I needed to get some fresh air?” Paige snapped. Her patience was growing thin. She never lost things and she needed her phone.
“So you just went for a walk alone,” Bobby continued to inquire.
“Humph, funny, I thought you watched me get up and walk out,” Paige retorted.
“I saw you leave but I didn’t see you come back,” Bobby bit out.
“That’s because you had a pair of fake boobs being pushed in your face when I came in,” Paige growled. “Are you going to call my phone or not. I’m not in the mood for this shit.”
Bobby scowled at her knowing it was possible that he didn’t see her come back because Whitney was being rather relentless last night. He’d only put up with it because he wanted to spend time with Marcus and Marie. They were having a good time despite Whitney’s advances. He’d wanted to follow Paige when she left but she said she wanted space.
Bobby dialed her phone and placed his phone on speaker. Paige stood glaring at him as they waited. Bobby couldn’t believe she was pissed at him after her text. After four rings the phone picked up and a gruff and muffed hello came over the line as if someone was talking into a pillow. Bobby would know that voice anywhere.
“Nate, what are you doing with Paige’s phone,” Bobby spit out.
There was a second’s pause then some shuffling. “Bobby?” Nathan said sounding confused. You could hear the frown in his voice. “Dude, I have no idea. I just want some sleep and the damn thing was ringing by my head. Maybe I picked it up by accident or something last night. How’s her foot?”
“Her foot?” Bobby frowned and looked at Paige. She just glared back at him.
“Yeah, we were horsing around on the beach and she stepped on a shell or something. I thought she cut it or sprained it at first but it didn’t puncture the skin, just looked and sound like it hurt like hell,” Nathan explained.
“It’s fine, thanks again for getting my mind off things. Sorry to wake you Nathan. I just really need my phone,” Paige said apologetically.
“Hey short stuff,” Nathan yawned. “No problem you can come to my door and I’ll hand it to you.”
“Sorry again, you sound so tired,” Paige said and bit her lip.
“It’s nothing you weren’t the only little sister in need last night, Rita called. We were on the phone most the night,” Nathan yawned again. “I think I just closed my eyes.”
“Is everything okay,” Bobby asked with genuine concern.
“We’ll talk,” Nathan sighed.
“I’m coming to the door now,” Paige announced and turned for the door.
Ending the call Bobby knew the sane thing to do would be to let her go get her phone on her own. But after those pictures he was anything but sane. He followed Paige out of the room across the hall. She looked over her shoulder at him and frowned.
Nathan was leaning against the doorjamb with his head back and his eyes closed as they approached. Bobby knew he shouldn’t have been heated because Nathan was in just a pair of shorts. However, the image of him on his knees in front of Paige was blocking all rational thought. He had to restrain himself from growling when Paige reached to touch Nate’s bare shoulder.
“Go get some sleep,” Paige said softly as Nathan yawned and handed her the phone.
“I need to talk to you later,” Bobby said sternly. Nathan gave him a questioning look but nodded before disappearing behind his bedroom door.
“What is wrong with you,” Paige spun around and hissed at him.
Bobby grabbed her arm and tugged her back across the hall to their room. Paige was too stunned to react before he pulled her into the room and shut the door behind them. He pushed Paige up against the door grabbing the fullness of her curves and lifted her on to his waist.
“I need to be inside, I need to know you are mine,” Bobby demanded before crushing his lips to hers cutting off the chance for her to refuse or deny him his need.
He pushed her dress aside pushing her breasts together for him to worship. Paige’s head fell back against the door as his hot mouth wrapped around her hardened tip like it was a sweet chocolate kiss. She forgot about being annoyed with him and just wanted him. Bobby pushed her tiny dress up her waist and grabbed a fist full of her thong ripping it from her body and tossing the scrapes to the floor.
“This is mine, Paige,” he rasped as he slid his fingers into her tight folds.
“Yes,” she cried.
“I’m going to spend all day and all night making love you,” Bobby breathed against her neck as he circled his arms around her and turned to carry her to the bed. He placed her on the bed then moved back to push his shorts and boxes down in one swift motion. His impressive member bobbed up and down point straight at Paige. He stepped back to the foot of the bed where Paige sat watching him with lust in her eyes.
“Arms up,” he commanded. He reached for the hem of her cotton dress and tugged it over her head tossing it with his clothes.
Placing his hands on her shoulders he skimmed them down her back. His long fingers trail to the small of her back down between her cheeks and further to tease her wet folds from behind. With his right hand he cupped her face and tipped it back to look into her brown eyes and delivered a searing kiss.
Paige whimpered into his mouth and he deepened the kiss while continuing to tease her sex. He pulled her so close his erection was trapped between them. Paige clung to his shoulders as she melted into him. Bobby lifted her with his hand still between her legs and inched her back onto the bed as he climbed on with her.
When he released her, Paige fell back against the bed opening herself to him. Bobby gave her a sexy grin and shook his head. Paige pouted up at him.
“Turn around,” he breathed huskily.
Paige obeyed his command turning over on her hands and knees. The anticipation was building and her need for him had her body humming for his touch. Bobby ran a hand up her spine and bent to kiss first one cheek then the other. He used his hands to spread her cheeks and dipped his face into his favorite place.
Paige purred as his tongue flicked out to taste her. Bobby hummed and moaned his pleasure into her as he pushed his tongue and face further in. He started to knead the cheeks in his palms as his mouth worked her over. Paige was writhing and crying out for mercy. He had gone down on her numerous times since they’ve been together but it never got old. She seemed to taste better every time.
