Eternal Starling (Emblem of Eternity Trilogy) (33 page)

Acknowledgments

First, I want to send a huge thank you to my publisher, Kamilla Quast, who “got” my vision for this book and championed it in every way. Credit and major thanks for my gorgeous cover goes to photographer, Lani Woodland; designer, Alma Tait; hairstylist, Lindsey Evans; and stunning cover model and make-up artist, Adrie Buchanan.

To my cheerleaders, critique partners, and beta-readers: Ashley, Angee, Autumn, Dan, Natalie, Craig, Amanda, Melanie, LaRue, Auri, Shelly, Brendalee. Thank you for your encouragement and support. Thank you to Dr. Ashley Argyle, Emily W. Jensen, Kamilla Quast, and Nancy Campbell Allen for your superior editing skills. Thanks to my fabulous author friends who answered a plethora of questions, gave me invaluable advice, and kept me from making many mistakes: Aprilynne Pike, Jennifer Murgia, Lani Woodland, and Shelly Fredman.

Dan—I don’t know how to begin to thank the inspiration for a love that transcends time. How did I get so lucky? Thank you for putting up with constant conversations about my characters, bringing me treats during every crisis of confidence, and for telling everyone from the florist to the hairstylist about your wife the author. Without you, your love, your encouragement…I never would have taken the chance to tell this story. You are truly my soul mate and I love you.

Ashley—You’re an amazing professor, literary and editing goddess, and most importantly, my best friend. Though, I’ve often cursed you for your high expectations, there aren’t enough words to thank you for everything you’ve taught me. I live in terror that one day you’ll stop answering my phone calls, returning my emails, and giving me advice. I imagine I owe you my own soul for all of your help.

Mom and Dad, you’ve been so supportive of this dream. Seriously, I won the parent lottery. Mom, thank you for believing in my writing long before I did, and for being so enthusiastic—hopefully the kissing scenes are adequate. Dad, thank you for teaching me to fall in love with reading before I could even ride a bike, and for showing me where the air filter was after I got out of that lake. To my brother, Colten, and sister, Natasha, thank you for your optimism and for teaching me long ago that absolutely nothing is impossible.

Special thanks to Angee for being my first fan and now my wonderful friend. Finally, a huge thank you to the most amazing fans in the world. Some of you I’ve known for years, others I’ve just met, but your constant support and excitement for Eternal Starling is the reason it’s available today.
