Doubting Our Hearts (32 page)

“You never have to ask me twice to do that.” He comes and wraps his arms around Addy’s expanding waist and kisses her hard on the mouth.

“Yuck!” Hailey states and Harper must add, “Gross. Cut it out daddy.”

“No worries. There’s enough to go around. Get over here my little princesses.” He turns and holds his arms out and both girl jump into them. “I missed my girls.”

“Woah!” Riley steps forward.

“Who said you can take the girls?” Teenie adds.

“Yeah. Give them here. Sleep over and Aunt Riley and Aunt Teenie’s house!” How my best friend and Addy's best friend moved in together still boggles my mind, but they enjoy the company. Their boyfriends both don’t care either because their fiery personalities definitely make their relationships even out. I’m glad to see them both happy.

“Will Uncle Mark and Uncle Jordan be there too?” Harper asks.

Brendan raises an eyebrow at the girls from his daughter’s question. “Something you wanna share with the class?”

They both stick their left hands out to reveal sparkling diamonds. “We’re getting married!” Why is today of all days people decide to speak in unison?

Hugs, kisses, and congratulations gets shared, and this is the sight my loving husband walks into. He wraps his arms around me from behind, spreading his fingers over my belly and whispers in my ear, “I missed you. Are you ready for a few days of rest and relaxation?”

A shiver runs through me at Brayden’s idea of relaxation, body massages, long lingering kisses, and hours and hours of giving me his complete and utter attention.

Yes. Yes, I am 100% on board with rest and relaxation.

I know without a doubt every decision I made from when I met Brayden, to moving to New York, taking the leap of faith and giving this man my heart was part of my journey to my future. With some of the best friends anyone can ask for, an incredible and understanding husband, and the son we created, my future is as bright as the sun setting on a warm Florida evening.

This is my nirvana.

Acknowledgements

To my husband, thank you for calling me crazy, understood my lack of sleep, and pushed me to finish the story. Without you, all the words would just be ideas in my head. I love you so much for helping me put my thoughts into words. I love you too much but never enough.

To Christine, I can’t say how much your texts and conversations have helped me. We talk things out and tell me when I’m completely off my rocker, and I am forever grateful for you help, love and support.

To the readers, thank you for reading the journey of these four characters I’ve had swarming in my head for a while now. This book was more emotional heavy for me, so I did steer clear of any sex scenes to show how these people came together emotionally. I hope you enjoyed it, and as always, thank you for supporting me.

Author’s Note

Doubting Our Hearts was originally only going to be from Lillian’s point of view with a few chapters giving readers into a glimpse of what was going through Brayden’s head. However, after much internal debate, I decided to include Brendan and Addison in as well. I hoped it gave you 360 insight on the path each took to get their happily ever after.
