Dawson and Lisa go in first and then David, Megan, with me bringing up the rear. The guys were invited and they were told to invite someone as well.
It
i
s appropriate for the one invited to enter the home first and then the guests are announced by the invitee.
I notice a tall, lanky guy walk over to David and Dawson and they shake hands the coven way
before
the guys introduce us. I shake hands in the coven way as well and then he kisses me on
my
left cheek. The hosts name is Adrian Jackson.
“
My home is yours, make yourself welcome here; I hope you have nothing but enjoyment tonight
my friends
.
”
He says gracefully and then simply disappears right in front of us. No smoke, no mist, not even a tiny water vapor.
The guys head towards some unknown place in the house where drinks are being made and we decide to mingle around a bit. The music is so intense I really don
’
t think I will hear again any time soon,
at least
perhaps
for
the next few days. Megan grabs Lisa and
me
by our hands
, pulling us madly through the other witches to the main floor where we start dancing.
Music always has that effect on me. I just can
’
t help myself. Moving my body to the hypnotic rhythm I realize they are even playing a song I like
,
“
Walking o
n Air.
”
We easily lose
ourselves in
the sound flowing around us. We move all around the dance floor as if we own it. The lighting is perfect, not bright just a low ambiance filtering in, almost like a glow from a thousand candles.
I close my eyes and move my body slowly to the pulsating sounds and
then
the trance that I can
’
t help
but
fall into. Raising my arms and swaying my hips to the flow of the beat. Suddenly I feel someone dancing around me, it
i
s David. The heat from his body is intensifying. I open my eyes to see flames coating his body. Watching him move on the dance floor really is bewildering. One of my attractions to him is his fire dancing. Others glide back to give him more room.
Blazing fire trails up and down his arms and legs as he flows effortlessly to the drumming beat. I quickly notice he is attracting some of the women as they dance alluringly to him. Two are close enough to him now to seductively kiss him or run their own fiery hands down his arms.
Our gazes
lock on each other and a small part
of me feels my own fire burn, r
eigning
in my instinc
ts I quickly put out my inferno. I turn
my head from
him and
move away trying to just fade back into the crowd discreetly. I don
’
t get too far when his hand grabs me firmly around my waist. A flicker of fire rolls along his arm and diminishes as we dance together never saying a word.
It feels so surreal being close to him. I can smell t
he enticement of him once again; it is an
assertive and powerful fragrance of Artemis
ia, citrus, a hint of cinnamon.
He
’
s like a walking aphrodisiac, and c
ombining that with the magick of the room I soon feel swept away.
I slowly place my arms around his neck and lean in closer to him. We stay with the music until it switches to another song. Tenderly he takes me by the hand, moving us off the floor to a more secluded area of the room.
Whispering in my
ear, “How
do you feel now
?
”
I look up at him, as he motions for me to look down and
I can
’
t believe my eyes. We
are floating
a
couple of feet above the floor, startling
me and he grabs me tighter around the waist. Laughing lightly in my ear he says
,
“
I thought you might like that
.
”
I am speechless at first and then I finally say,
“
Yeah,
I
do
.
”
Not
to
o
sure if he hears me, but he smiles back. He gently lowers us back down to the floor and leads me out of the room.
I follow him to the back of the house. Outside I find this gigantic marble patio area where there are others having drinks and talking, as well as engaging in a little sexual divergence beside the pool.
That
’
s something I don
’
t believe the mundane humans will ever truly accept. Our
kind feels pretty open
about
our own sexuality and if two witches consent in giving each other pleasure
then no harm
is
done. It is natural and simply
put
it
i
s
a beautiful
part of our world.
We walk over to a small alcove on the other side, within this alcove there is another pool ent
irely lit up with white candles, i
t is absolutely beautiful. He pull
s me over to a long white couch,
which
is definitely a more private area.
When we are finally alone I look over at him and ask
“
Where is Megan?
”
I already know the answer though.
He laughs and says
,
“
After I gave her a drink she wandered off to find someone else to
dominate
, I think she found out quickly I wasn
’
t intrigued by her.
”
I agree, saying
,
“
Of course, we both know how it can be with Megan.
”
There is a wet bar next to us and David raises his hand out and two drinks levitate towards us. I take my glass
.
“
Thanks, so, what do you have on your mind?
”
I am curious to know why now, why after all this time he decides to find me, to talk to me. I take a sip of my drink and look at him.
He glances down at his glass and
says after a long silent pause.
“
I miss you.
”
He takes a drink and looks back at me.
“
I think us being apart is a delusion, we just need more time
…
together.
”
He stretches out one of his arms behind me
.
“
I know being
lifemate
s can happen differently for each one of us, but if we just take our time, I know things will fall into place.
”
Now I
’
m the one looking down at my glass. I don
’
t know what to say to him. I have to say I was a bit crushed when he gave me the breakup phone call, but being here with him I still don
’
t feel the love that
lifemate
s talk about. I know that no matter how much we work at it, forcing it won
’
t be the answer.
David puts his empty glass down and says,
“
Raise the back of your
shirt;
I want to see your crescent.
”
I sigh, but figure why not, so I move over and turn my back to him and raise my shirt up to the middle of my back. I feel him trace his fingers over the
witch
’
s crescent on my bare skin
.
“
See, you haven
’
t found
anyone as your
lifemate
yet.
”
Lowering my shirt down I turn back to David and say,
“
No
,
and
I haven
’
t really been trying either, I haven
’
t dated anyone since we broke up.
”
All witches, not just our own, but all witches carry a symbol on their body, the symbol is a unique crescent
,
placed depending on gender, for the females its on our lower backs.
The
male
’
s
crescent is on their left upper arms and to the humans it looks just like a tattoo.
When we find our
lifemate
s our crescent fills in with the color of crimson. It allows others to know we have our
lifemate
, and that means there is a bond between the two that can
’
t be broken, only in death will it break.
David takes off his jacket and rolls his sleeve up to expose his crescent symbol and it isn
’
t crimson. I look back at him and say
,
“
Ok, I don
’
t quite understand what you
’
re trying to tell me.
”
He pulls his white silk sle
eve back down and takes my hand.
“
Don
’
t you get it? We both haven
’
t found anyone through all this time
of being apart
.
”
I finish my drink and move my hand away slowly.
“
Look, David we both have been hurt and I think we should just heal now
and move forward,
”
I say looking back down
,
“
b
esides
,
I thought you were dating someone else?
”
I sit my empty glass on the stone table in front of us. I really don
’
t want to get into a debate over our relationship or I should say the lack of.
Lisa and Dawson walk into the alcove.
Thank the goddess
, I think. As Lisa sits down next to me, she takes her hand and blows on it, like she is blowing kisses and the air swirls around the room and then around the pool, extin
gu
ishing the flames on all the candles.
We sit in the dark for a second and then David
’
s hand
s
glow amber red with flames flowing from his palms
. H
e begins lighting each candle one by one. He saves the last few that are closer to us for me to light. I raise my palm out and watch the golden flames shimmer around my fingers and then shoot from my hand to the remaining candles. David reaches over and takes my hand. With both of our hands together the flames grow brighter red and hotter.
Having fire elements instilled in us we don
’
t suffer any pain from the fire. Over time we learn how to work with our fire. How
we can
manage the intensiveness and the exact flow of our element. I look over at David and
smile;
we stay like this for a brief moment watching
the
fire on our hands intertwine with each other. Slowly I pull my han
d from his.
“
I
’d
better
get
home;
it
’
s been a very eventful
, but
exhausting day for me,
”
I tell them.
I hug Lisa and Dawson goodbye and turn to leave.
“
Can I walk you to your car?
”
David asks.
“
Sure.
”
I nod and we walk back through the swarm of witches to the main entrance. Trying not to bump into anyone was impossible. I glance over and see Megan talking to the guy we were introduced to earlier,
Adrian
. I wave to them my goodbyes. Finally
,
I see the wooden front double doors.
David walks in front of me and motions his hand and the doors begin to open for us. We walk to my car. I stop beside my
driver
’
s
door.
“
Please
,
make sure Megan gets home, you drove her
here;
think you can handle her
for
a few more hours
?
”
