EPILOGUE

WESSON

“Boys, please stop drooling over your dress clothes. Your mother is going to kill me if I can’t find your bibs.”

“I found them.” Parker yells, coming into the side room.

I laugh when I look at him looking guilty as shit.  I know before he even has to tell me.

“You asked her where they were, didn’t you?”

“Sorry but I looked everywhere.”

“Well then where were they?”

“In their bag that Mia has.”

I look over at him and smile.  This is the happiest day in my life; nothing is going to ruin it.  We spend a few minutes wrestling the boys and get the bibs on them.   I sit them up and watch as they lean over for the same toy and laugh at their little tug of war as I grab them a second one.  My heart swells each and every day to hold my growing love for my family.  I laugh when I get a good look at their bibs.  They are in black pants and white button up shirts. Their bibs also white with little black ties printed on them.

I go in search of their shoes, knowing that I have seen them somewhere near when I hear someone clear their throat.  Here I am crawling around on my knees, looking for the boys’ shoes and I see Braxton laughing while holding both pairs in his hands.

“Lillian said you might need these, since you weren’t able to find their bibs.”

“Laugh all you want asshole.” I smile up at him and grab the shoes.

Finishing putting them on, I stand up with one of my boys on each hip hoping that they don’t spit up on me or worse, themselves.

Park and Brax take one of the boys to Mia and Vanessa on our way to the head of the Church.

I think back to how we got here and smile as I stand waiting for my bride to come down the aisle.

We have moved to this small town away from any of our pasts.  Park, Brax and I opened our own private investigating firm, unable to go back to the force after everything. We needed to be separated from all those things that Parker and Lillian have grown up in. I had some money put away and it turns out that Lil and Park’s parents had put money in a trust for them that the force was holding onto until they were free.  So we all bought a house out here, somehow on the same street. Our freedom doesn’t come without the relationships that were bonded and we couldn’t be too far from each other, especially since the babies were born.

After moving here and starting up the business, Lillian went on bed rest and we spent a few months of worrying before we were blessed.

The night she told me her water broke was the scariest night we have ever endured.  She was so small and since she was carrying two children, it wasn’t possible for her to give birth naturally.  I can’t in words ever explain the love I have for her after watching both our sons being born.  We both laughed and cried and when it came to names we never fought it.  There were names we were set on even if they were from an odd time in our life. They are names that were important to us.  Cannon and Colton Jacobson are the best things that ever happened to us.

So as I stand here with Braxton at my side, watching Vanessa and Mia walk down the aisle holding Colt and Cannon, I laugh as they try to reach for their flowers. I couldn’t be any happier.  Some would look into the empty church and wonder how I could be so happy without more people present.  They wouldn’t question it if they saw the look I gave my bride as she stopped at the doorway, letting me take her in completely before she starts her slow march down the aisle.

Parker is walking her down the aisle and I can see how happy he is after everything, he just wanted Lillian to be happy and have a normal life. Our life is far from normal, but it is ours and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

My breath hitches when Parker raises the veil showing me my beautiful bride’s face.  Tears prick my eyes as I see the love of my life, in white about to swear her life to me in front of our family.  She takes my hands and we stare at each other through all our vows.  The preacher unable to give us permission for our first kiss fast enough before I pull her to me and crush my lips to hers.  After a few hoots and hollers and a “get a room,” we break away just enough for me to smile against her lips.

“I love you Lillian Marie Jacobson yesterday, today and for all of the tomorrows.”

“Ditto.”

Then as I kiss my wife I faintly hear the preacher announce us.

“I now am proud to introduce Wesson and Lillian Jacobson.”

We had a rough time getting where we are but it is and will always be worth it.  I look around and my boys, in my best friends hands and can’t help but love each and every one of them.  It’s the six of us against the world. The world better watch out.

THE END
