The Biker's Chaos (Ghosts of the Prairie Motorcycle Club Book 5) (10 page)

“Thanks,” she said softly.

The two went to the wait station where Hannah filled her in.

“So John said you and I should go hang out at his place, and wait for them to come back,” she said. “If you want.”

“Yeah. We can order food. We can also watch some old movies,” said Tara.

“Sounds like a plan.”

Hannah didn’t want to be at home waiting for Tara and worse, waiting for news. They left Tara’s car in the parking lot. Tara was all too happy to ride in the Nova.

“This is a sweet ride,” said Tara.

“John said my sister may be riding in a 1971 Challenger. It’s supposed to attract attention. What do they look like?”

“I have no idea,” said Tara.

She searched it on her phone and gasped when she came upon the picture. She held the phone out for Hannah to see.

“Oh my gosh. That is such a cool car! I hope my sister is riding in it now. I hope that Bull is in love with her,” said Hannah.

“Is Bull as good looking as your other biker buddies?” asked Tara.

“I think it might be a requirement to be a Ghost of the Prairie. To be hot and cool at the same time,” she said. “I put the word out that you’re single.”

Tara hit her lightly.

“Stop,” said Hannah. “You will be thanking me.”

Not exactly knowing how to work the automatic garage door, Hannah parked in the drive of John, Pike and Bull’s house.

“Wait till you see how tidy these guys are,” said Hannah. “Everything has corners on it.”

The house looked so grounded and normal from the outside.

“It’s cool. Better than my drab apartment any day,” said Tara.

“Having roommates makes the place cheaper,” she said letting them in. “It’s probably the same price as an apartment per person.”

She flipped on the lights. They walked into the living room.

“Look neat, huh?” said Hannah.

She first saw the stunned look on Tara’s face before seeing that John’s house had been ransacked. It didn’t feel like anyone was there, but Hannah thought they should leave immediately.

“Let’s call the guys,” said Hannah.

She tried to think like a deputy to help herself from losing her cool.

She instructed Tara. “Let’s move like a unit. If anyone jumps out at us, we’ll divide and concur.”

The women made it to the Nova and locked their doors. They were afraid to go to Hannah’s because the chances of her place being targeted was pretty good. They called the police and waited with the engine running because it was too cold to stand outside. Hannah would use the car as a weapon if need be.

While they waited, Hannah texted John that his place had been trashed. A regular civilian car equipped with a spinning police light pulled up to John’s house, blocking the driveway. A man of medium height in a suit and an overcoat hurriedly approached Hannah and Tara. He walked with his badge outward to show he was indeed a person to be trusted. The two women got out of the car.

As soon as Hannah and Tara were in the driveway, eager to introduce themselves and show him the scene, he pulled a gun.

“Get in the house!” he growled. “Make a noise and I will blast you.”

“The cops are coming,” said Hannah.

“I am the cops,” he replied. “By the time they catch on, we’ll be gone or you’ll be dead. You know I never get tired of saying that. I think I said the same thing to your sister just the other day.”

Hannah tried her best not to cave to the emotions that rushed her. She tried not to buy into what he was saying because he could just be fucking with her. She acted cool instead.

“Did you try to turn my sister into a whore?” asked Hannah.

“Shut the fuck up,” said the man.

They were deep into the house now. As they walked, Hannah regarded everything as a potential weapon. She readied herself to act.

“If you told me what you were looking for, maybe I could help,” said Hannah glibly.

“You’re not going to help me,” said the man.

“I want to make a deal,” she scoffed. “If anyone is good at saving her own neck it’s me. Tell me what you want.”

“I was looking for cash,” said the man. “The biker with your sister said there were stashes of cash throughout the house.”

“Really?” Hannah’s eyes widened. “Put the fucking gun away. What am I going to do to you? I mean come on. Be real.”

“Hannah!” scolded Tara.

“Go heat up our food,” Hannah fired back. “Make yourself useful.

She asked the man, “Want dinner?”

Tara turned toward the kitchen, and the man took aim with a threat. With his arm extended, and the gun beyond her, she reached for a vase on the table. She swung, nailing the side of his skull. The crystal vase shattered into pieces.

“Oh, for fuck sake!” she squealed.

“Call the police again,” said Hannah shakily.

For whatever reason she thought Billy would have gone with the Ghosts, but he didn’t. When she saw him, she knew she and Tara were going to be okay.

She ran out the front door straight to him.

“Are you okay, atlhtaáka?” he asked her.

Hannah was thrown by the word but didn’t ask him. She just frantically told him what happened.

The EMTs carried the injured man out on a stretcher with a mask over his nose.

“Well, be between you and your ol’ man, none of these bad guys are going to be able to sign statements,” he laughed. “You fucked him up, girl. What did you do? Karate chop him?”

“I hit him with a vase,” she said lifelessly.

“Good thinking,” he said. “I’m going to go through the house and check it out. Why don’t you and your friend go down to the station?”

Hannah’s stomach rumbled.

“I’m going to grab my burger,” Hannah said.

“Darlin’ if you can eat a meal after bashing a perp’s head in, you are going to make a fine deputy,” he laughed.

Billy returned to the Nova as Hannah and Tara waited for the car to warm up.

“My detectives are processing the scene. At this point, I don’t think that either of your places are safe,” he said, scrolling through his phone.

He paused reading.

“I know it’s late, but we think that the two of you should head over to Devil’s Lake. We have a Ghosts of the Prairie chapter there. We’re setting you guys up with our friends Savannah and Foley. They have a guesthouse right on the lake,” said the sheriff. “Brand new. Just built.”

“What about our jobs?” asked Tara. “What about packing?”

“Do you have an assistant manager?” asked the sheriff. “I don’t know how to tell you someone might mistake you as being involved. I can’t force you to go, but I can strongly recommend it. Mountrail County will reimburse you for lost wages. And my deputy will accompany each of you to your places to get whatever you need for the next couple of days. One of us will follow you out there. I will talk to your employer.”

“What is this?” asked Tara.

“Well, looks like a human trafficking ring that just got busted wide open and our illustrious assistant attorney general just told on himself in a big way. Hannah here busted him,” said Billy.

“I clocked the assistant attorney general?” asked Hannah.

“Yes, atlhtaáka, you did,” he said.

“Okay that’s the second time you’ve called me that,” she said. “What does it mean?”

He smiled. “Please don’t be offended. It’s just that it fits. Little white bean. Just let John know when you get there, or he will have kittens,” he laughed.

Chapter 15

Hannah loaded up on coffee as she set out for Devil’s Lake with her boss riding shotgun. She wanted to drive the Nova; she now got her chance. It was two in the morning when she and Tara arrived at the home of a person she never met. A person who was willing to take her and her friend in just because she knew a Ghost, and she needed help.

Foley Graham was a Ghost. And Hannah was thankful he was helping her.

They went their separate ways to their own bedrooms.

“This room is bigger than my apartment,” called Tara.

“Night,” said Hannah.

“Night,” called Tara.

“I’m sorry I involved you in this,” called Hannah.

“I have to be the guest of gorgeous, hot bikers,” she replied. “I’ll live.”

Hannah’s phone dinged. She got a message. She squealed.

“They found them!” she shouted. “They found them, and they’re coming here!”

John was calling. Hannah answered it. Her heart raced as excitement overwhelmed her.

“Hey!” she said.

“Hi,” he said. “We’re at a truck stop.”

“I can’t thank you enough,” she said. “You need to go to sleep.”

“We are. We’re crashing for the night,” he said. “I miss you like crazy.”

“Oh my gosh! I miss you so much,” she said.

“I heard you got the bad guy, little bean,” he teased.

“Do not call me that, please,” she said. “I know I have no right to ask you anything, but please don’t.”

“Okay,” he said.

“Can I talk to my sister, please?”
“Your sister and Bull are being taken to the local hospital. Routine. Billy ordered it. They have the FBI involved in this thing.”

“Oh my gosh and we just thought he was an asshole,” said Hannah.

“Wow, five minutes with me and you’re already cussing like a sailor,” he said.

“Oh, you last longer than five minutes,” she said.

“I am climbing through the phone right now,” he said.

“I know me too. I didn’t do myself a favor by saying that. I’m dying here,” she whispered.

“Are you?” he asked, his voice was like honey.

“Yes,” she said.

Arousal constricted her throat, and she barely could make a sound.

“Well then you should do yourself a favor,” he whispered.

“And what?” she asked.

“You said you didn’t do yourself a favor by talking about me fucking you,” he said. “Then you should do yourself a favor.”

“I can’t handle it when you talk like that,” she said her breath rising in her chest.

“So do...yourself...a favor...,” he said suggestively. “Make yourself come for me.”

“This is a dirty phone call, isn’t it?” she whispered.

“I believe it is, sweetheart,” he answered.

“I have never had one before,” she whimpered. “You’re really good at it.”

He laughed.

“It’s definitely not the next best thing to being there. Not even close. But do it, and then get some sleep. I will see you in the morning or as close as I can come to it. You guys are just up the way from the Spirit Lake Casino. I’m going to book us a room and we’re shutting the world out for a week.”

“Night,” she said.

“Night back,” he said.

Hannah laid against her pillow in a cloud of affection for John. Her sister was safe and in good condition, and they were both coming home to her. She couldn’t ask for anything more, except to have John above her and inside of her.

She was extra quiet because she had no idea whether Tara was awake from the news or dead asleep. She let her knees fall apart. Her center hummed and ached. She ran her hands over her center and rubbed tantalizing herself through the silken boxes she had changed into.

She liked the feeling of the pressure through the fabric. She closed her eyes and thought of him. She slipped her fingers beneath the waistband of her pajama shorts. She pressed and worked, rapidly back and forth with a fury.

She was so wet. She ached. This made her hunger for John more, not less. She cupped her full, heavy breast and pinched her nipple lightly. She prolonged her torment for as long as she could hold off. But she was tired and impatient.

She picked up the pace of her work and did not let up until rapture consumed her.

Hannah bit a pillow at the pinnacle of pleasure. Her eyes were heavy with it. John filled her head. She rolled over and drifted off.

She slept soundly. She didn’t even dream. The sensation of someone kissing her awoke her. She barely opened her eyes because she was still exhausted. But she knew it was John. He was kissing her awake. She smiled against his lips.

“Hi,” she murmured.

“Hi,” he said back.

“Did you sleep?” she asked.

“I did,” he answered.

His erection grazed her thigh. He was rock hard for her.

“The door locked?” she asked.

“Yes, it is,” he replied.

She looked him in the eye and worked below his waist. She unfastened his jeans. He helped and kicked them down. She lowered her satin shorts and put him inside of her. She was wet the moment she saw him.

She tipped her head to his and let the wondrous feeling of him inside of her. He held her so tightly. He moved slowly and just a little, back and forth, barely grinding. He clutched her buttocks, holding on for dear life. He pushed as hard as he could into her. He swirled his hips so that he made circular motion within her.
