“Okay, I can understand that. But you will still have Friday through Sunday off, right?”

“Yes.”

“Let’s go away somewhere, anywhere you want.”

“Okay, I would love to!”

“Okay, good. What are you doing tomorrow night?”

“Sophie and I are doing dinner and a movie.”

“Hmmm, I think your plans are going to change.”

“What makes you say that?”

“Zach is planning to ask out Sophie for tomorrow night.”

“Oh really?”

“Yeah, he said he’s been thinking about her since Mexico so I told him to go for it. She seems like a pretty cool chick.”

I smiled as I thought about Sophie with Zach. She didn’t make a big deal about it but I could tell that she was still hoping to hear from him after spending time with him on the flight back from Mexico. I was happy for her and I couldn’t wait for us to double date! Okay, I was getting ahead of myself but I was hopeful that Zach and Sophie would turn into something. Time would tell.

“She
is
a pretty cool chick. Zach is a good guy, right? I can’t have my girl dating a jerk.”

“Zach is a stand-up guy and any chick would be lucky to spend five minutes with him.”

“Coming from you, I know that means a lot so I hope they have a good time.”

He playfully rolled his eyes. “I’m sure she will tell you all about it.”

“Yes, she will!”

“That would be pretty dope if we all did something together sometime.”

“Yeah, that would be cool.”

He looked over at me and gave me a wink. “I think I’ll keep you around for a while.”

I playfully swatted his arm.

“Hey!”

He pulled me in for a hug.

“I’m just kidding. I want you around for the long haul.”
