Chapter Twenty

August 7, 2010

Addie

While I’m waiting for Zeke, I decide to try and unwind by turning on my stereo and dancing. To be honest, I don’t really feel like it. I feel like balling up on my mattress and crying, but I don’t want our last night together for who knows how long to be a total bummer. I just need to think about things the way he does, focus on the big picture and not dwell on him leaving tomorrow. Switching on my stereo, I wait for Justin Timberlake to take me from reality with his velvet voice and killer beats instead.

Justin never lets me down.

I’m less than a minute into bringing sexy back when I hear the window sliding open behind me. I hear him taking his place on the bed, feel his eyes wandering over my body. I want nothing more than to turn around and face him, but I know it’s the last time I’ll see him climbing in that window ‘til… like Christmas. The realization causes my throat to close with emotion.

Nope, not ready yet.

When my favorite part comes at the three minute mark, I can’t help but smile as the beat slowly overtakes me. I’ve just dropped and begun to really find my groove when I hear him shifting off the bed, moving toward me. I barely have time to turn in his direction and his lips are on mine.

Resting his hands on my neck, he thrusts his tongue into my mouth as he backs me up against my bedroom wall. The force is enough to pull a slight
umph!
from my chest. Needing the extra support as he deepens the kiss, I grip his wrists in my hands.

“Your dad in bed?” he asks as he pulls away, his lips still hovering over mine.

“Yeah,” I manage, giving him a small nod.

“Good,” he says, his hot breath falling over my skin before he plunges his tongue back into my mouth.

As he pulls my lower lip in between his teeth, my head begins to swim. When a small whimper escapes me, he groans into my mouth and quickly moves his hands lower. Bending slightly, he grips my thighs in his hands and lifts me into his arms, never breaking the kiss. He walks me to the bed, dropping me gently and pulling away, both of us panting.

“I want you, Addie,” he says, pulling his shirt over his head before climbing back onto the bed.

“Me, too,” I manage, watching his eyes dance in arousal.

Without another word, he pulls my shirt over my head and tosses it to the side. In another swift movement, he rids me of my shorts and panties. He lets his eyes travel over me, burning my skin as they move back to my eyes.

“You’re so hot,” he breathes, his lips back on mine before I can reply with more than a whimper.

As he devours my mouth, sucking and lapping at my tongue, I feel him moving above me, throwing his jeans to the floor. In just seconds, he’s pushing inside me and the feel of skin on skin is intoxicating.

“Oh my God!” I moan into his chest, trying my best to keep quiet so we don’t wake my dad.

“Baby,” he manages, moving his lips over me as I hook my ankles behind his waist, taking him deeper. “Fuck, you feel so good, Addie.”

As he pumps into me harder, his hands and lips are everywhere. The feeling that he can’t get enough of me throws me over the edge in no time, but he doesn’t stop. In fact, the feel of me tightening around him, his name leaving my lips in a hushed whisper, it only seems to spur him on.

Since the night he took my virginity a few weeks ago, we haven’t really slowed down. I couldn’t recall even one day since that I hadn’t craved the feeling of him inside me and Zeke is always more than happy to oblige. However in all the times we’d been together over the summer, he’s never taken me like this. There’s something primal lurking below the surface that I’ve never seen in him before. I’m not sure if it’s knowing this is the last night we’ll have together for a while or not, but whatever it is, I don’t ever want it to stop.

Zeke

I’m sad as fuck when I climb the roof tonight. It’s the last night I’d have her for a while and the truth in that sucks. I knew, just like every other night, it would end with me inside her, but as I watched the slow grind of her hips as she danced, pretending not to know I was there, I knew I couldn’t wait.

Addie’s always hot, but there’s something about watching her dance that throws my cock into overdrive.

As I watch her fall apart beneath me, feel her come washing over me, I’m pulled in further to the trance she sets on me every night. I want to finish, I know I could have a dozen times over since I pushed inside her, but I can’t stop.

My name leaving her lips in a whisper has me spiraling, I can’t get enough of the taste of her skin. She smells fucking amazing and her mouth tastes like cherries, reminding me of the first night we were together. A bittersweet combination of arousal and sadness fills me and I swallow it, sucking her neck hard as I feel her clenching around me again.

“Zeke, I’m gonna come again,” she raps, the timbre of her voice slightly higher.

“Yes baby,” I whisper, raising to kiss her, stifle her moans.

As I feel her pouring over me, she digs her nails into my arms where they cage her in, pulling a slow groan from my chest. Once she’s done, I feel her release beginning to trickle over our thighs and my need for her is multiplied.

I know I won’t last much longer. No matter how much I want to stay inside her all night, I know in a few minutes I’m going to be done for. Sitting up onto my knees, I hold her hips in place and begin driving into her as I let my eyes take her body in. I’m as deep inside her as she can handle, greedily taking as much of her as I can and still knowing I’d take more if I could. Her hazel eyes are hooded with the combination of exhaustion and arousal as I gaze down at her. Pushing in harder, I watch her lips part and her back arch slightly and I know I’ve reached my tipping point.

“Tell me you love me, Addie,” I pant, holding her eyes.

“I love you,” she says immediately. “Zeke, I love you.”

“Fuck baby,” I husk, driving into her as fast and hard as I need it, watching her eyes flutter closed as I fill her.

I’m panting, letting the pleasure of my release set in as her body continues to hug my cock. Gently releasing her thighs from my grip, I lean forward, careful not to break our connection and cage her with my arms.

I’m savoring in the feel of her when I glance down between us, complete shock covering my face.

Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck
.

“Oh my God,” I manage.

“What?” she asks, her face contorting in worry as she takes in my face.

“Shit, Addie,” I say, burying my forehead on her chest as I pull out of her. “I can’t fucking believe…”

“What, Zeke!” she cuts me off, gripping my chin and sitting up slightly to face me. “You’re freaking me the hell… Oh no!” she groans, hiding her face in her hands, showing me that she’s figured it out. “Oh double shit on a stick…”

We didn’t use a condom.

Chapter Twenty One

Addie

“God, I’m so fucking sorry, babe,” he continues. “I should have known it felt too good.”

“What?” I deadpan, irritation flooding my eyes.

“No, that’s not what I meant,” he says, shaking his head. “Condoms just make it so you don’t feel as much. That’s all.”

“Oh,” I nod in understanding before the panic resets. “So what the fuck are we supposed to do now?”

“I don’t know,” he admits, rolling off of me and resting his head on my bare shoulder. “I mean, there’s really nothing we
can
do.”

“Are you serious?” I ask him in a harsh whisper, my heart pumping like crazy in my chest. “What if you just got me pregnant, Zeke? We’re not ready for a kid!”

“I know,” he says, rubbing his palms over his eyes. “I mean, they have that pill thing you can take…”

“No,” I say immediately. “I’m not doing that.”

“I don’t want to either, baby,” he sighs. “But I mean, other than just waiting, we can’t do anything else.”

“Okay,” I manage, ignoring the sting of tears that are threatening. “Well, I guess we’ll just have to wait then.”

My mind is flooded with anxiety, images of me and a tan baby wearing aviators on the side of the road making me panic. Seeing it, Zeke gently tilts my face to his and breaks my thoughts.

“Don’t go there, babe,” he starts, his voice low and soothing. “You know all that shit your dad said about if you got pregnant, you’d be alone?”

“Yeah,” I nod.

“You know that’s bullshit, right?” he starts, cupping my face. “I wouldn’t ever do that to you, Addie.”

“I know,” I admit, resting my hand over his.

“You’re probably not even gonna get pregnant anyway,” he whispers, kissing my forehead. “How often do people get pregnant the first time they forget to wear a condom?”

Taking in his naïve chuckle, I roll my eyes and shake my head in disbelief.

“You obviously don’t watch reality TV.”

His lips on my neck wake me from my restless sleep.

The sun was rising when I’d fallen asleep against his chest, so I’d be surprised if we’d gotten more than an hour in. I can’t bring myself to regret it, though.

We’d spent the night wrapped in each other, talking, making love and just
being
. Aside from the initial panic attack we’d induced on ourselves, the rest of our time together was absolutely perfect.

“How are you even awake right now?” I whisper, watching the small smirk cover his lips before he leans down to kiss me.

“Your dad’s gonna be up soon,” he replies in a hushed tone. “Then I promised my mom I’d have breakfast with her so I have to go home for an hour or so. This might be the last time we’re alone today.”

“Oh,” I nod, unable to shake the way I miss him already.

“Don’t be sad, baby,” he sighs. “Just be with me while we can, okay?”

Running my eyes over his face, I rest my fingertips over his jaw, loving the feel of the light stubble that’s forming there.

“Okay,” I whisper, pulling his lips to mine and kissing him with gentle force.

As he runs his hands over me, I begin to pant with need and savor in the way my head begins to swim beneath him. He lowers himself between my thighs, lapping at me until I’m begging for him to give me more.

Relieved when I hear the familiar sound of the condom wrapper, I relax and let myself get lost in him as he fills me. Slowly, the hum begins to build again as he stays close. Whispering his love while pushing me back to the brink with each thrust, we fall into the abyss together and it’s explosive.

We take a few moments to catch our breath and I know it’s time for him to go. Sitting up to watch him dress, I keep my blanket wrapped around my bare front and rest my head on my knees. He lets out a low sigh before he turns to face me.

“Try to get some sleep, baby,” he whispers, watching me nod but both of us knowing sleep will elude me now. “I’ll be back in a little bit.”

“Okay,” I say, giving him the best smile I can.

Bending to give me a chaste kiss, he rubs my bare back and holds my eyes.

“I love you,” he whispers.

“I love you, too,” I manage, giving him the best smile I can before I watch him go.

It’s not until I hear his feet hit the ground below my window that I let the tears come.

Zeke

Once I’m done with breakfast, I make my way upstairs and pack my things as quickly as I can. Glancing up at the clock, I see that our time is dwindling fast. Ignoring the clench in my chest, I stop folding and begin sloppily stuffing my bags.

I’m nearly done when I hear something coming from next door. Looking up, I see Addie in her room doing the same thing I am, her radio blasting.

She has no idea I’m watching her, I can tell that much by the quiet look on her face, the way she’s not dancing or singing along, lost in thought. So many days at school, I longed to be able to look out my window and see her standing across the way. I’d always known we were close, that she was special, but I hadn’t known just how much she meant to me until I couldn’t see her like that. On those days, I’d find comfort in knowing she was there though, dancing in her room and doing her own Addie thing.

Now though, it wouldn’t be that way anymore. Not only have my feelings grown in ways neither of us could have ever expected, she won’t be in her room anymore. She’ll be in a dorm somewhere, same as me, only this time there will be more distance between us. As I let myself watch her for a moment, my heart breaks when I watch her swipe a tear away. I want nothing more than to go to her, to hold her and tell her it will be okay.

I can’t though, because then she’d see me crying, too.

***

“Hey,” I say, smiling widely and taking her in as she pulls the door open.

“Hi,” she smiles back, stepping back to let me in.

When I lean down to kiss her, I savor in the taste of her cherry lip gloss as I rest my hand on her waist. She’s wearing a white cotton skirt with a bright green tank top with a pair of low-cut mismatched Converse. Her hair is in a braid that runs over her shoulder and although I know she’s sad, she’s trying her hardest to hide it.

“You look very pretty,” I tell her as I sneak a squeeze at her ass, watching her blush.

“Thank you,” she giggles, pushing the door shut and taking my hand. “My dad wants to talk to you.”

“Okay,” I shrug, squeezing her hand affectionately.

Leading me into the living room, I struggle to keep my eyes off of her body knowing that her dad is nearby. When we make the corner, he’s waiting for us in his recliner, his face looking heavy with concern.

“Daddy, Zeke’s here,” she announces as he looks up to take us in.

“Hey Zeke,” he says, giving me a small smile. “I want to talk to you before you and Addison take off.”

“Okay,” I nod.

“I’ll be upstairs,” Addie says, reaching up on her tiptoes to kiss my cheek.

“Alri…”

“No, Addison,” her dad cuts me off. “You stay, too. I need to talk to the both of you.”

“Oh,” she says in surprise before shrugging slightly. “Okay, what’s up?”

“Go on and have a seat,” he says, watching us oblige. “Mary, come on in.”

Looking up, we’re both surprised to see my mom standing in the entryway to the living room. Over the years, our parents had gotten used to keeping in contact because Addie and I had been so close. It wasn’t often though that they both came together to talk to us. The only times this had ever happened was the first time I got expelled for defending her and the frog farm.

Both times, we were in trouble.

“I know this is awkward, but it has to be said,” he starts. “Zeke, Addison told me you’re taking your car so the two of you can see each other between now and winter break?”

“Yes sir,” I answer.

“Alright,” he sighs. “Well, I don’t think we really need to tell you what’s expected of you, do we?”

“No,” we answer in unison.

“You’ll be away from home, lots of freedom,” he sighs. “We know you’ll want to see each other and we’re fine with that, but you two need to be careful. Keep your education a priority.”

“He’s right,” my mom interjects. “The two of you have your whole lives to do anything you want. Mitchell and myself have worked really hard to make sure you have the opportunities you’re getting, you’ve both worked hard, we just don’t want to see those things slip away because of…”

“Your hormones,” Mr. Greyson says.

“Well, I was going to say feelings,” my mom smirks. “But I guess that works just as well.”

“Dad,” Addie starts before facing my mother. “Mrs. Turner, I get why you’re worried, but we’re not going to do anything for you to worry about.”

Met with an eyebrow arch, I decide it’s time to speak up.

“She’s right, mom,” I sigh. “We’re not going to do anything stupid. We know how hard you’ve both worked, but we busted our asses, too, especially Addie,” I say, glancing over to her.

“Seriously, Daddy,” she says, looking at him. “Nothing is going to happen. We’re gonna go to school, get our degrees. I swear I’m not going to get pregnant,” she continues, looking at my mom. “Zeke won’t get expelled again, anything stupid we do won’t end up on the internet and haunt us later.”

“Yes,” I chuckle. “It is our solemn vow that all of our stupidity will stay a secret.”

“That’s all we want, son,” my mom says with a gentle smirk. “What do you think Mitch?”

“Ah shit,” Mr. Greyson sighs, trying to keep the grin off his face. “Well, I guess that’s all we can ask for. They are going to college, after all.”

“So are we good?” I ask. “Can I take Addie to lunch before I have to leave?”

“Yeah,” he chuckles. “Get outta here.”
