Faith (My Misery Muse) (24 page)

He nodded his head, “Well, right in here.” he
gestured to his office and Mags and I followed him in.

“Since you didn’t have any witnesses, we
found two for you,” he said and walked around his desk and sat
down. “Okay, well then let’s get started, shall we?”

I reached out taking the crutches from the
limo driver stood carefully like I had been shown, then leaned one
against a chair. I took her hand in mine and looked into her
beautiful blue eyes, knowing these eyes would be the ones I looked
into each night before I went to sleep and woke up to each
morning.

The JP started talking but I didn’t really
listen to what he said, I answered when I was supposed to but
continued to stare into Mags’ eyes getting lost in them. Finally,
he said that I could kiss my bride, and I smiled widely, 'my
bride', I liked the sound of that. I bent down and brushed my lips
against hers once, twice, three times before murmuring, “I love
you, honey,” and then kissing her deeply.

I finally broke the kiss off when someone
cleared their throat and another chuckled, I looked down at a
smiling Mags and knew I had just made the best decision of my
life.

Epilogue

Mags

“Ah Devi, come on I didn’t know we were going
to get married either, he just kind of sprung it on me, come talk
to me please,” I begged yet again. As soon as Devi found out what
happened she called us all assholes and hadn’t talked to us since.
I mean, I knew she would be mad, but not to this extent, I was
starting to get a little worried.

“Come on, Devi, it’s been two days. How long
are you going to be like this?” Drake growled from his spot at the
kitchen table.

Seth started laughing and we all turned and
glared at him, which only made him laugh harder when he finally
calmed down enough to talk. He looked over at his wife and smirked.
“Devi, just tell them.”

She shook her head no. “I swear to god, Seth,
if you say one word you will not get laid for a year.”

“Yeah, I don’t see that one happening,” he
said then looked over at Drake. “She’s fucking with you both, she’s
got some friends coming over today for a BBQ to celebrate your
getting married.”

“SETH!” she screeched and threw a cinnamon
roll at him.

I looked over at my best friend and smiled,
she really was the best even though she was a giant pain in the ass
most of the time.

“Really?”

“Yeah, it’s nothing big, just the guys from
the band and shop.”

“I love you, Devi.”

“I love you too,” she looked over and me and
smiled, “sister.”

Devi and I were in the kitchen working on
last minute touches to lunch, she had called a caterer to handle
most of the food so we didn’t have a lot to do. I was putting ice
in cups for drinks, when Ash walked in carrying a wailing Cait,
Devi quickly took over leaving Ash to finish sticking paper plates
into the wicker holders. I glanced up at the perfect time, Cris
walked in behind Ash running his hand over her ass, I looked over
at Devi and had to bite my tongue. Devi looked like her eyes were
about to pop out of her head from seeing that, she looked over at
me and nodded towards them, I nodded back. Hmm life was about to
get interesting, well more interesting around here.

Drake

Later that afternoon I was sitting out in the
patio with my friends and family celebrating the fact that I had
finally gotten Mags not only agree to marry me, but actually do it,
it was a fucking miracle.

I pushed myself back into the living room
heading to the kitchen to grab something to drink when I noticed
Sam staring out the windows into the backyard. I looked out the
patio door trying to find out what he was staring at. Ah well, that
was interesting. “Sam, sure you don’t want to talk about it?”I
asked looking back towards what he had been staring at.

He shook his head. “Not my story to
tell.”

“I’m here if you need to.”

“Thanks.”

Next thing I know is there's screaming coming
from someplace, and I rolled into the kitchen and really wish I
hadn’t. There was my cousin, Cin, trying to pull her skirt back
around her ass and one of my best friends, X, with a smile on his
face.

“What the fuck?” yelled Devi.

“We were looking for some condiments,”
replied X.

She just shook her head at them. “Get the
hell out and fucking behave.”

They both walked out of the pantry and the
next thing I know X is on the floor holding his bloody nose and Eli
was standing over him, hands in fists glaring—fuck.

I glared up at the ceiling wishing that I
could have some drama free time with my new wife eventually, then I
thought about that, wife, I had a wife and a daughter, I smiled
widely and rolled myself out of the way. They could handle their
own drama I was going to go see my wife and daughter.

Acknowledgments

I need to give special thanks to three
ladies who have become great friends. They have kept me sane
through the process of writing Faith, and they have put up with my
constant teasing, complaining, whining, and outright bitchiness.
They were my sounding board through Faith, my original beta
readers, they are my pimps, and so a very big thank you to Holly
Malgeri, Kim Box Person, and Nikki Sparks. I do appreciate all you
do even if it doesn’t seem like it at times.

Thank you to my beta readers, Wendy Bree Rex
and Megan Smith. I appreciate you taking time out to help me
develop Faith further.

Tanya Keetch, The Word Maid, my incredibly
understanding editor, thank you for all the work you put in, and
thank you for tolerating my insanity, and for being there as my
friend and confidant.

Sarah Hansen, Okay Creations, thanks once
again for another beautiful cover, I look forward to working with
you once again on the next piece of art you create.

To the authors who have helped me and
inspired me. There are too many to name but thank you all for
supporting me as well as giving us stories that affect us, some to
tears of pain for characters we have fallen in love with, to cheers
of happiness, and laughter at what life holds.

L. Diane Wolfe, Spunk of a Stick, thank you
for formatting both My Misery Muse and Faith, and for answering
questions.

To all the blogs that help
support me. There are many, so if I leave someone out I am sorry. I

the take-out and insane hours. I love you both very much.

To my readers, thank you for taking a chance
on My Misery Muse and I am so happy that you loved Seth and Devi as
much as I do, and hope you fall just as in love with Mags and

really do appreciate it all.

About the Author

Brei Betzold is a stay at home mom to one
very interesting little boy. She has been writing since 7th grade
when her English teacher turned her onto poetry and never stopped.
In high school, she had yet another English teacher inspire her to
start writing short stories where she found her first true love,
turning words into something so simple yet complex that it can move
other people to love it or hate it, but in the end to feel emotions
about something she created.
