Epigastric abdominal pain that radiates to the back

Nausea

Vomiting

Fever

Grey Turner sign – ecchymosis around flanks (sign of hemorrhagic necrosis)

Cullen sign – ecchymoses around umbilicus (sign of hemorrhagic necrosis)

Grading of Severity

Mild vs severe

Severe pancreatitis

APACHE II score > 8 within 48 hrs of symptom onset

Organ failure (renal, pulmonary, liver)
