Caught in the Devil's Sheets (37 page)

He couldn’t lie to her. He was wild with the need to take her. Afraid she would run, he took her hand and placed it on his erection. She gave him consent to keep going, but it didn’t matter. She had no idea what she was up against. He couldn’t very well take advantage of that. Sure he could have, he could have watched her scream and beg all night, and as long as she kept giving consent, he’d have been happy to show her just how ugly the beast in him is. But he’d made that mistake with Daniella and she left. Delilah would no doubt leave, though he was sure she was much stronger then Daniella ever was. Her marriage was sure proof of that.

Yet all through the work day, he checked his phone, to see if she had called or texted. He was fearful he’d already pushed her too far and afraid she was already on the brink of running.
It’s just paranoia.

The clock couldn’t move slower as the hours crawled by.

I have slept the entire day away. I can tell it’s late when I finally have to pee so bad I can no longer lie in bed. I don’t feel as fuzzy, but my back feels like it’s burning. I have no idea how slave women endured this and went to work the next day! When I come out of the bathroom I check the clock. It’s 5:00 and Odin will be here shortly. I clean myself up in my bedroom mirror and wait at the dining table with a cup of coffee, wearing a t-shirt and booty shorts.

He pulls in the driveway in his Chevy around 5:40. I open the door and he shuffles by me, carrying bags that smell like dinner.

“Hope you’re hungry,” he says, bringing the bags to the dining table.

“What did you bring me?” It smells so good my mouth is watering.

Odin empties several to-go containers onto the table. There is spaghetti, Caesar salad, marinated meatballs, garlic bread, and a bottle of red wine. I pull some plates and silverware from the kitchen and Odin helps himself to two wine glasses. I push my coffee to the side as I take my seat and Odin generously starts filling my plate full of delicious Italian food.

“How was your day?” he asks, laying a bed of spaghetti noodles on my plate.

“I slept through the whole day,” I smile.

“Good. Feel up to coming back to my house tonight?”

“Sure,” I say without hesitation. As soon as I agree, I can see a large weight is lifted from Odin’s shoulders.

I ask Odin about his day at work and we sit having a nice dinner, like a normal couple. For a moment, I forget all about last night and about the discomforting feeling burning on my back. Odin’s smile is the most heartwarming and dazzling smile that I have ever laid my eyes on. His hair falls just over his soft blue eyes as he talks passionately about construction and the perks of being your own boss. Idly, I miss working. I wish he wasn’t too against me running. I would love to go with him this weekend to Washington and make some of my own cash.

After dinner, I take a shower, slowly washing myself down and shaving. It’s hard to bend over and reach my legs, as it stretches the skin of my back in an agonizing way. It takes me almost an hour just to get through the shower. When I emerge Odin has towels set across my bed, a basin full of water and a handful of items from the pharmacy laid out. I reluctantly drop my towel and walk naked to my bedside table, pulling out my pipe and some weed. Odin watches as I sit naked on the side of my bed smoking a bowl. If I’m going to endure letting anything touch my back, I’m going to need to curb my nerves. When I’m finished, he holds out the bottle of wine for me as well. I take it, holding it up to my lips and tipping it back, I suck down half the bottle.

Reluctantly, I lay belly-down on the towels, looking Odin directly in the face as he begins to open a bottle of hydrogen peroxide. I hope that if he can see my pain, the desire to ever do this again might go away. The cool bubbles fizz over my back. It doesn’t hurt like I thought it would, but when he takes a warm wet washcloth and wipes me down, I shut my eyes tight and grit my teeth. Then he takes an antibiotic ointment and uses a finger to smooth it across my wounds. It feels like getting a tattoo, sharp razor-like strokes across my back. I ball my fists, and try to breathe. Lastly, Odin lays gauze bandages across my back and tapes them down with medical tape. The ointment works to ease the burning and as he cleans up, my back starts to feel much better. I smoke another bowl as he empties his pharmacy purchases into my medicine cabinet.

Odin sits down next to me. “How are you feeling?”

“My back feels better. I’m nervous about tomorrow.”

Odin and I still have to meet with Jaime and James Devine tomorrow. The last time I had to face Jaime it was ugly. My saving grace was the sheet of glass between us, which won’t be there this time. Truthfully, Odin is more comforting than any sheet of glass and I know he won’t let anything happen to me. But facing Jaime still makes me very anxious.

“I know, baby, that’s why I want to go with you. I can’t let you face that animal alone.”

“I’m sure it’s only going to make things worse, you showing up with me.”

“I don’t really give a fuck,” he says with certainty.

His calmness washes over me, helping me to feel more relaxed. But I know that his presence is only going to complicate things. There is little hope of a peaceful divorce if I’m going to bring Odin to my first meeting. Either way, it’s no use arguing. I really don’t want to go alone anyways.

Odin kneels between my knees on the floor and pushes my legs apart. I watch intently as his head moves between my thighs, his firm hands grasping my hips. His lips kiss my sex, and I run my fingers through his hair. In seconds, I have completely forgotten about my anxiety, as I’m sure was his plan here. I roll my head back, giving into the pleasure of Odin’s tongue tracing circles around my jewel. My nerves are heightened with the weed and the wine, and within minutes I’m cumming around him, my thighs pressing against his ears. My body shivers as all the muscles in my abs tighten. He hums a sweet groan against me, adding a chilling sensation to my climax. I pull at his hair, biting my lip and softly moaning as I shudder around him.

He kisses my thigh, and I tense as it tickles. He smiles, and kisses the other inner thigh, holding my knees apart. Then he lays one last kiss on my sex before sitting up to look at me.

“Whenever you’re ready, angel, I’ll take you home with me,” he whispers sweetly. I wrap my arms around him, hugging him close. I need him to know how much he means to me.

Odin stands up, cupping my face in his hand, he kisses my head. He leaves me breathless as he turns to leave me alone in my room. Now that there are bandages on my back, it makes putting clothes on much easier. I decide on black yoga pants that generously hug my butt and a black tank top with the Devil’s Bandit logo on it. My bandages stick out the shoulders some, as I check myself in the mirror. I toss tomorrow’s clothes into a purse and put my hair up, sliding on some sandals before I make my way into the kitchen. Odin has put the leftovers in my fridge and is just finishing up our dishes. We take his truck back to his house.

Odin wastes no time leading me up to his bedroom. As soon as we are inside, he pushes me up against the door, gently kissing my neck as he grasps my head in his left hand. I hold him, begging him to keep going. He pulls off the clothes I just put on, between sweet overzealous kisses. I pull off his shirt and his scent touches my nose. Manly cologne mixed with hardworking sweat make a deliciously sexy mixture. If I could bottle this scent, I would spray it on everything I own.

I’m naked again, as Odin turns us and walks me backwards to his bed. He lays me down gently and leans up, pulling a black ribbon from the pocket of his jeans. I’m lying on my back looking up at him. He takes my hands in front of me and ties my wrists together with the ribbon, leaving a big bow that faces him. Then he lays my hands above my head, instructing me to keep them there. I watch, full of excitement as Odin unzips his jeans, and pushes them down, then removes his boxers. His massive hard on springs to life, arousing a strong desire in me. Odin sits up on his knees. He reaches a hand out for me, and I place my bound wrists in his palm. He helps me sit up and moves me onto his lap. He puts my arms around his neck and slowly eases into me.

I gasp, laying my head on his shoulder. Odin’s arms are wrapped around me, holding me to him as he pushes into me again. I close my eyes, feeling him move inside me. It’s the most beautiful feeling, being here with him, knowing him intimately. He holds my hips in place, gliding into me again and again, filling me completely, and taking away all sense of worry, all sense of pain, all sense of anything that isn’t him. My body is filled with passion, my lips move along his neck, kissing him and teething gently on his skin. His hand makes his way into my hair, holding my head against him. He hoists me up, and sets me down on him again, harder this time, so that my body twitches in pleasure as he makes contact with the inner most part of me. I moan softly at his neck and he repeats this motion again.

“Odin,” I whisper, completely lost in him.

“I’m here, baby,” he says in my ear, and I tighten my arms around his neck.

I believe him. I trust that he will always be here for me, as long as I need him. I have never trusted anyone, except for Billy, and that took years and a lot of dedication. Odin and I have managed to become just as close in a matter of weeks. Odin’s hand moves down my neck and rests across my back as he continues to dive into me. I lean my head back, looking him in the eye as his hips flex into me. His gaze is everlasting, full of promise and he doesn’t so much as blink as he fills me up again. My chest rises and falls against his and my nipples harden.

“There is nothing I wouldn’t do for you, Delilah,” he says sincerely, as he rests deep inside me.

It feels like someone is squeezing my heart in my chest. I take a deep breath and nod, letting him to know that I believe him. The space between our lips closes in, until we are locked in a beautiful kiss. Odin lays me back onto the bed, and pulls my leg up around his hip. He slides in deeper and I moan. I’m trying desperately not to fall in love too fast, but it’s tearing me apart. I can feel my body, my heart, and my soul falling for him hard. Nothing in me is strong enough to withstand my feelings. All I can do is try to hide them, afraid I will push him away.

I bite my lip, suppressing the urge to say three words I might very well regret. Odin lets out a horse groan as I press my hips into his. His lips suck at my nipples as he pushes into me over and over. The sex goes from passionate to wild, with one deep hard thrust and then he’s moving like an animal, heaving into me. He leans up and drags his hand down my belly, then his thumb rests on my clitoris. He smoothes over me there, bringing to life the animal in me! I grind my hips against him, begging him to go harder. His free hand grasps my hip, holding me in place as he drives into me.

“Ah!” I call out, filled with a wild need to cum.

Odin’s abs flex as his hips rock violently back and forth, drilling into me. I curve my head back, shutting my eyes tight and pushing my tied hands against the headboard to push myself down onto him. My back stings as I move up and down on the bed with each thrust he delivers. But the pain only adds to the overall sensation of ecstasy that I’m entwined in momentarily.

His thumb, pressing skillfully into me, while his hard cock impales me brings me to the abyss of pleasure I’ve been craving since the minute we pulled in the driveway. My muscles tense and I let out a cry of pleasure as I begin to come apart around him. He slams into me, hard and slow, and very controlled, making my body jolt upward. I feel him pulse inside me as he does this again, and again, and again, making me cum, and scream. My toes curl and every muscle in my body convulses. I hear him let out a primal growl as he finds his release deep inside my body. I hold my breath, hanging on to my orgasm while he spills into me. My body writhes beneath him, as all the muscles inside me bear down onto him. Finally he stiffens and I look up to see every muscle in his perfect body flexing tightly. The veins in his arms illuminate and the ripples between each abdomen muscle deepen. His eyes are closed and his mouth hangs open, his brow holding a tight frown.

Holy Fuck!
He is so hot. I have no idea how I have gotten so lucky as to have him here with me. I pant, inwardly very pleased with myself as Odin’s eyes open to gape at me. He has the overwhelming look of someone who has just won the lottery. Then a heartwarming smile grips his face and he leans down over me, laying a kiss on my lips. He nuzzles my ear and kisses down my neck and I put my arms around his neck, my wrists still carefully tied together.

Odin eases out of me, and lies beside me on the bed. I turn so that my back is to him, and I lean against him. He reaches one hand around me and carefully unties the ribbon, leaving it lie on the bed in front of me. He rests his head just behind mine, and I can feel his warm breath tickle the hair on my neck. He cuddles me with his arm and I lace my fingers between his, panting until I find sleep.

Chapter 28
Dog Fight

Everything is different than the way we fell asleep when we wake up Thursday morning. I try desperately to hold it together and pretend I’m in no way nervous about meeting with Jaime. I have decided to hold off getting a lawyer of my own. I’m hopeful that in light of the Sergio situation, we can keep this civil. Truthfully, as long as he will give me half without a fight, I won’t raise conflict. I just want this to be over.

I head downstairs and grab my oversized purse, heading into the bathroom by the study and the guest room to get dressed. I pull on a pair of black slacks and a checkered black and white blouse that buttons up with small black heart buttons. I’m not sure why I feel the need to look professional or cute today. It’s not as if I’m appearing in court. I guess I want Jaime to see me at my best. I leave the top buttons undone, showing off some cleavage. I let my messy red curls have their way, pulling one side back with a white flower and pinning it out of my face. I spend a few minutes lining my brown eyes with black eyeliner and mascara. I head back into the living room and Odin has been kind enough to bring my shoes down from his bathroom.

Odin is wearing crisp looking dark denim jeans with a plain black v-neck t-shirt. His Converse match mine. He’s taken the time to slick back his hair, giving him a greaser appeal that is dead sexy. If I had the time, I would jump his bones to alleviate some of my nerves. He looks me up and down, saying nothing.

“You look nice,” I say, hoping to get some sort of reaction from him.

“Thank you.”

He puts his arms around me and kisses my forehead. Lifting my chin, our lips meet in a soft embrace. His hands move over my shoulders and as we kiss, I feel him buttoning the top buttons of my shirt.
What the hell?

“He doesn’t deserve to see these,” Odin says, reading my facial expression as he fastens the top button.

“I just want him to regret losing me,” I admit shamefully looking down at Odin’s hands on my chest.

“If he’s not blind, deaf, and completely retarded, he already does,” he assures me.

This is the Odin I can’t get enough of. The one whose words come from the heart and lift me up when I’m at my weakest. The Odin I would bear the whip for time and time again if I thought it’d bring him closer to me.

“Look at me,” he says raising my chin to meet his gaze. His blue eyes are full of concern. “You don’t have to go if you don’t want to.” If only it was that easy.

“Funny, I was going to say the same thing to you,” I note sarcastically, well aware that he has already made up his mind.

“I wouldn’t miss this for the world, Lila,” he says, confirming that there is no talking him out of this one.

I sigh.

“Come on, we have enough time to grab some coffee on the way.” Odin holds the front door open for me, and I make my way up into the passenger seat of the Chevy.

Odin pays for my latte and my breakfast sandwich that I finish before we pull up to the jail. I have just a minute to get a handle on my nerves and find my center before we head inside. I check us in at the front desk. The officer at the counter uses the phone to notify someone that we have arrived. He looks up at Odin.

“What’s your name, sir?” he asks.

“Odin Swift.”

“A Mr. Swift,” the officer relays over the phone. “I’ll hold him here,” he says and he hangs up. “It will be just a minute ma’am,” he informs me.

I know that Odin isn’t going to let me walk in there alone. If there is some rule or stipulation that says he can’t accompany me to this meeting, we’ll both be walking out of here. A small hope grows inside me. James Devine walks out from behind a locking door that buzzes to let him into the lobby where Odin and I are waiting.

“Lila,” he says shaking my hand and eying Odin. “Can we have a word?”

“Go ahead,” says Odin, letting James know that anything he wants to say to me privately, he’ll have to say in front of Odin too.

James all but scowls at Odin, then regards me. “I’m sorry, sir, but you’re not authorized to come back in the meeting room with us,” James says rudely.

“I was under the impression Lila could chose whomever she wanted to represent her,” Odin insinuates that he is my lawyer. James can’t argue Odin’s point. I can choose anyone to represent me, who’s to say Odin isn’t a lawyer?

“Do you really think this is a good idea?” James asks me directly, ignoring Odin.

“I’m sorry, are you trying to give me legal advice Mr. Devine?” I ask smartly. “As far as I’m aware, you’re no longer my legal counsel. Shall we?” I gesture toward the door.

James shakes his head in frustration, then nods to the officer behind the counter to unlock the door so we may proceed. He leads us to a room with glass windows on three sides. A deputy stands just outside the door to watch in case things get heated inside the meeting room. James allows me and Odin to walk in first, shutting the soundproof door behind us. Jaime is sitting with his back to us. His head has been shaved down. I walk around and take a seat on the opposite side of the table. His expression turns from familiar to pissed-off as soon as he sees Odin is with me.

“What the fuck is this?” he asks, looking to Odin and not me.

“Nice to see you too Jaime,” I say sarcastically.

Odin is quiet, not fanning the flame, for which I am thankful.

“What are you fucking my wife now?” Jaime says to Odin, still completely disregarding me.

“Something like that,” Odin smiles, proud of himself.

I roll my eyes already frustrated.
We’re off to a great start.

“Gentlemen and Lady,” James uses the word carefully. “I believe we have some important business to attend to and while we are on a tight time schedule today, may I suggest we cut the bullshit and get down to it,” he says, laying some paperwork out on the table for us.

Odin takes the seat next to me and with one hand reaches over and touches my knee, an assuring gesture that I try to ignore.

“Here is a list of your legal assets. Why don’t we start by discussing how you wish for them to be divided?” James opens the floor.

“I want my car and half of what’s in our bank account,” I say. “Either I keep the house and take on all the payments, or you pay me half of what it’s worth and you can keep it.” I don’t bother to even look at the folder full of assets. At this point, I don’t really give a shit what’s on paper, I just want out. Jaime shakes his head.

“Just like that, huh?” It’s as if he can’t believe I’m really doing this.

“Just like that, baby!” I say snidely, leaning across the table to look him square in the eye. I feel Odin clench my knee at my endearment.

“How do you feel about the house?” James asks Jaime, trying to keep the ball rolling.

“I don’t know. I need time to think about it,” Jaime says, folding his arms and leaning back in his chair.

“Your time’s up, Jaime boy,” Odin says, mocking my thoughts exactly.

“Hey fuck you!” Jaime shouts at him.

“No fuck you! Quit stalling and sign the fucking papers or I’ll let everyone know about your little side deal with the Kings. How do you think jail will be when your own brothers want nothing to do with you?” Odin asks putting Jaime back into his place.

Jaime casts a nervous glance at James Devine, knowing full well Odin isn’t about to get any further into club business in front of an outsider.

“And then what? I sign the papers and let you bang my wife until you get bored? And I’m just supposed to take your word that you won’t rat me out later?” Jaime asks, his eyes blaring at Odin.

A surge of uneasiness hits me right in the heart. Get bored of me.
Will that happen?
As angry as I am at Jaime, he has a point.

“Is that what happened, Jaime? You got bored? Is that why you started fucking around with other women, treating her like shit? Were you bored?” Odin asks him directly.

I stare down at my hands that are sitting in my lap. Odin’s hand still stuck to my knee. It’s hard not to get really self-conscious right now. That’s exactly what happened. I wasn’t enough for Jaime. My whole life, I’ve never been enough. I try hard not to let my inner most doubts about myself grip me now. But Jaime has just stuck his finger in my biggest insecurity, that I won’t be enough for Odin.

“Come on, man. You know that’s not how it works. Every guy we know gets drunk and parties with other women. That doesn’t mean I don’t love my wife. I know I fucked up but I still care about her, man. Lila…” Jaime says my name, and I swallow all my emotions, looking up at him with eyes that are filled with resent and hate. “I still love you,” he says.

Rage fills me up. Love isn’t beating on someone and pushing them around and disrespecting them in front of all your friends. He doesn’t love me. He’s just too selfish to see me go. I think I’ve known that for a while, but it still hurts.

“You don’t love her, so spare us your lies. We all know she’s just your meal ticket!” Odin sneers at Jaime, and his words cut right through me.

I know he’s absolutely right, and it hurts.

James Devine casts an exasperated glance in my direction, knowing full well we’re not about to get anywhere.

“Obviously I fucking love her or I wouldn’t have asked you to take care of her. And by take care of her, I didn’t mean start fucking her while I’m in jail! If you even waited that long!” Jaime starts hollering at Odin, and the two begin barking at each other like angry dogs over the table.

“Still think this was a good idea?” James says under his breath from his seat next to me as Odin and Jaime verbally assault each other.

“Honestly, James, right now I’m just glad you’re not on my payroll,” I say with a smile and James turns his attention to his watch. I let out a sigh, staring into space as the arguing over the table continues.

“You’re just a backstabbing wife fucker!”

“You’re a piece of shit who beat his wife!”

“Why don’t you tell her all about why you left Louisiana? Talk about abuse!”

“I don’t know what the hell your pussy of a dad told you, but he doesn’t know jack shit about me!”

“Sure! Well we’d ask your dad what really happened but of course we all know what you did to him!” Jaime crosses a very distinct line, especially since we are sitting in a jail, with a lawyer present. He’s obviously getting desperate.

“The same thing’s about to happen to you if you don’t shut your fucking mouth and sign the papers!” Odin’s voice beams in warning, gaining the attention of the guard posted out front. He’s pissed and his hand is clenched tightly on my knee.

I have heard enough. I stand up to my feet and remove myself from the meeting room, walking quickly toward the front door. I hear Odin call after me, but I have nothing to say. I told him this was a bad idea. I told him I didn’t want any drama. But he didn’t listen, he just had to come. Now it could be months before I get a divorce. I try to exit into the lobby, realizing that it’s a locked door and I bounce back off of it. I glare at the officer who quickly buzzes me out. I storm through the lobby and out the front door, pissed as hell! I’m mostly mad at Jaime, but I don’t even want to look at Odin right now either. I didn’t let him come so this could turn into a huge pissing contest. I need to blow off some steam, so I take off jogging down the street before Odin can come chasing after me. I just want to be left alone. My back starts to sting as I break a sweat and quickly I duck into a head shop on the corner of Hart Street and Fifth Avenue.

Devil’s Cut

Lila bolts out the door and hurries down the hall. Odin stays behind long enough to threaten Jaime one last time with the shit that will consume his life if he doesn’t sign the papers. Though he would love nothing more than to kick Jaime’s ass here and now, he doesn’t want to be the occupant in the neighboring cell. He walks out the door knowing full well Micah can’t hold out the information about Sergio and Jaime forever. At best, Odin has until Jaime gets out of jail before Micah has to tell Jack and Felix. Where this all goes from there is out of his control.

I just need to get Jaime to sign the fucking papers so he’s no longer in any way tied to Lila when the shit hits the fan
. He lets out a sigh, weaving his hands back through his hair. He’s been contemplating how Lila will react when he tells her Micah will eventually have to take this blackmail to the club.

This relationship thing is so complicated. On one hand, he has no idea what he did to get so lucky, but at the same time he can’t help but feel like it’s temporary. The fact that she’s still here now, after he admitted where his guilt comes from, is mindboggling. Lila is even stronger then he thought, but no doubt if she knew just how dark his past was she, too, would leave. Losing Daniella was hard. Odin knows that he’s already in so much deeper with Lila then he ever was with Daniella. Daniella was mostly just a physical attraction. Lila is the full package. She knows what it means to be tied to the club, she’s strong, and she even took the whip. And the sex, even when it’s mild is mind-blowing.

He can’t describe what it is she makes him feel. Clearly it can’t be love. Odin firmly believes he isn’t capable of such a thing. No one with the ability to love can do the things he’s done, whether or not he wanted to do them.
If I loved her, I wouldn’t want to hurt her. And while seeing her in pain is very difficult, it still makes me so fucking hot!
All his thoughts are lost in a scatter when he reaches the truck and Lila isn’t there. It hadn’t occurred to him that she might be mad enough to take off. He frantically looks around. His first thought, and his greatest fear, is that he blew it and she’s gone for good.

No! Don’t be irrational, she probably just needed some space
. He tries to calm himself as he pulls his phone out and calls her. He hears it ringing in his truck. She’d left her wallet and phone in the passenger’s seat.
Shit!
He tries to keep calm, not losing his temper. He retraces his words in the meeting room. What did he say that has her mad enough to leave? Was it the “she’s just your meal ticket” comment? He sees now how that might have been upsetting. She couldn’t have made it far on foot, with no wallet or phone. He gets into his truck, throwing it into reverse and pulling out of the jail parking lot. He circles the surrounding blocks, looking in windows and back alleys. He almost hits someone in a white Kia who flips him the bird. Angrily, he honks back at them cussing out his window. He’s trying to hold it together but he’s losing it. It becomes more and more evidently clear what a tight grasp she seems to have on his emotions. He slams on his brakes, avoiding another accident.
