A Kink in Her Tails (2 page)

“Oh come
on
, Adele. I was in my ratty robe. I hadn’t brushed my hair. Barely one cup of coffee under my belt, and you think I turned him on? Give me a break here.”

“He asked you out, didn’t he?”

“Well, yeah.”

“And you said…”

“I may have been sleepy, but I wasn’t dead. I said yes. What do you think I said?”

“And this is why I’m here doing your nails?”

“Well.” Eve looked down at the shiny pink polish Adele was putting away in a small bag. “I suppose. I don’t want him to think I’m a total scumbag all the time.”

“Good God, Eve. You’re a marketing manager. That’s so far from scumbag it’s absurd to even think like that.”

“Yeah, but he hasn’t seen me as the
suit
. He’s only seen me as the
robe
.”

“Which he obviously liked enough to ask out.”

“Well, yeah, I guess…”

Adele sighed. “All right. Nails done. What else?”

Eve peeked hopefully at Adele’s bag of tricks. “You’re the expert, you tell me.” Adele sighed. “Honey, I’m a photographer, not a fashion consultant. You want to look good in black and white, I can help you. For a date? Hey, look at me, I’m not exactly successful in that department. What do I know?”

Eve looked bleak. “I don’t know what to wear.”

“Did he say anything about where he’s taking you?”

“No. Just did I like Indian food. Which, luckily I do.”

“Well, there you go. Indian restaurants are basically more on the casual side. So dress more on the casual side.”

“And that would be…”

“No pearls.” Adele grinned at her friend.

“Duh. Are we talking jeans here?”

“Nope. No jeans. Uh uh. Absolutely not.”

“But my ass looks good in jeans.”

“Sweetie, I have a feeling Mr. Simon Austen thinks your ass would look better in his bed.”

“Really?” Eve’s eyes widened. “Now there’s a thought.”

“Hey. Go for it. How long’s it been?”

“Don’t ask.”

“So you’re due for some fun. Go have a little. He sounds nice, check him out, if he’s on the up and up, give him a spin.”

“Give him a spin? Sheesh, Adele, where do you get these expressions?”

“Well, it sounds better than fuck around with him for a while and see if anything clicks.” Eve sputtered her soda. “Yep. You’re right. It does. Not that I expect anything to come of it, of course.

But maybe just a bit of fun.”

Adele tilted her head as she packed her cosmetics neatly away in her photographer’s bag. “Seriously, Eve. Did you like him?”

“Seriously Adele? Yeah. He was really nice. Very easy on the eye, that’s for sure, but he seemed like fun, too. He had a good sense of humor, and he made me laugh. Which is quite an accomplishment, at that hour of the morning.”

“And all this while you were playing with your flogger.”

Eve slid from the chair with a final check of her polish. “Yeah. That whole flogger thing is the weirdest. I never ordered it, that’s for sure, and yet here it is…” She eased it out of the box again and showed it to Adele.

Adele took it and gave it a few experimental swings. “Oooh nice, Eve. This is a beauty.” Eve raised an eyebrow as she watched her friend’s smooth wrist action. “Adele, is there something you’

re not telling me?”

“Like what, hon?” Adele was now laying a few lashes down across a helpless sofa pillow with unerring accuracy.

“Like you are doing
that
with a scary amount of skill…” Adele grinned at Eve. “Well, I may be divorced, but that was after being married for ten years. I was younger. We played.”

“Really?”

“Sure.”

“Um, Adele?” Eve moved closer to the older woman. “Show me?”

* * * * *

“Not too cold for you, is it?” Simon glanced down at the woman by his side who had snuggled herself into his leather jacket.

“Nope. You’re the one who must be freezing, though. Are you sure you don’t want…?” She tugged on the collar of his coat.

“I’m fine. I have you if it gets too chilly.” He grinned, put an arm around Eve’s shoulder and pulled her against him.

She glanced up at him and laughed back. “That Indian food was certainly warming. I loved every mouthful, but my God it’s good to breathe something cold.” She took a deep appreciative lungful of air, which coincidentally brought Simon’s smell deep into her senses.

She drifted on the scent of leather, sandalwood and man.

“So you liked it, huh?”

“Oh yeah.” She sighed, lost in her own sensuous little fantasy.

“Um—Eve? I was talking about the Indian food.”

“Oh. Yes. Well, so was I. It was fabulous. Especially the tandoori.” Simon grinned again, cuddling her a little tighter to him. “Glad you liked it. God, I haven’t walked with a girl like this in years.”

“A girl? Oh wow, there’s a lovely compliment.”

“Yes. A girl. You. Soft, smells nice, small feet, curvy, definitely a girl.” Eve chuckled. “You know damn well what I meant. I haven’t been called a girl since I don’t remember when. I’m Ms. Bentley in the office and Ma’am everywhere else. I
hate
Ma’am.”

“So, to me you’re Eve-girl. Eve. Essence of woman. First woman. My woman. I like that.” Eve slowed her steps and looked uncertainly at Simon. “Your woman?” Simon looked steadily back at her. “Eve, I can’t hide the fact that I’m very attracted to you. I have been since I first saw you, rumpled and sleepy, and I can’t believe it was only this morning. I feel like we’ve known each other for a long time.”

Eve chewed her lip. “That really sounds kind of hokey, doesn’t it? I mean I know people say things like that…”

“Can you deny that you feel an attraction to me?” Simon stopped in the street and reached out for Eve, pulling the lapels of his jacket to bring her close to his chest.

Eve gazed at him. The street lamps reflected from his eyes, dazzling her. She let her mind float and listened, for once, to her heart. “No, Simon. I can’t deny it. It’s there, and was the minute I opened my door this morning and saw you standing there.”

Simon drew in his breath. “Thank God.” He bent toward her, pulling her even closer.

“Simon?” Eve’s hesitant voice breached the small distance between them as he lowered his lips to hers.

The first touch was electric. A brush of skin on skin, then another, then a firm pressure of silken flesh.

His arms went round her clasping her tight, tighter against him as if he wanted to pull her into his ribcage.

His lips parted and the warmth of his tongue ran softly along her mouth. Unable to withstand his touch, Eve welcomed him inside.

He moaned as he invaded her moist depths, tongue flickering this way and that as if trying to learn every little dip and secret in the first five seconds. He tasted spicy and sweet, and she found the combination intoxicating.

Eve slid her hands up over his sweater and around his back, relishing his strength and loving the hardness of him. And speaking of hardness, there was a definite hardness making its presence known around her belly. He grew harder as she kissed him, pressing firmly against her and starting an ache way down between her thighs.

It was Eve’s turn to moan as Simon slid one hand down to cup her buttocks and pull her impossibly closer. By lifting her slightly, he nudged his cock into the dip between her thighs and she gasped with the pleasure of it. His tongue plunged back into her mouth, darting back and forth as if it had a life of its own and was determined to thrust as deep as his cock when the time came.

And at that moment, Eve knew the time was here.

This was going to be her “wild” adventure. This was what she’d been waiting for. The one man, the one night, the one fuck that would go down in her personal history as the most incredible experience. When she was old and gray and knitting potholders for the senior center group, she’d be able to look back on this night and smile.

She wasn’t looking for permanence, for a mate, for an “I do” or a white silk dress. She didn’t know if she’d ever be ready for those things. They implied long-term things like commitment, devotion, trust and love. Things that scared Eve silly.

Right now she didn’t want to be scared. She wanted to be fucked.

She pressed her hips against his arousal, rubbing herself wantonly over the distended fabric of his pants. “ Come home with me?”

Simon raised his head, eyes sleepy with desire. “I was planning on it.”

“No, I don’t mean walk me home. I mean when we get there, come into my apartment with me. Don’t leave now. Not now that we’ve found this.” She put her hand to his cheek and tugged him back to her hungry lips.

He was more than ready, spinning her so that her back was to the wall of a store. He leaned in on her, pressing as much of his body as he could to hers. “God, Eve,” he muttered, running his tongue from her ear to her collarbone.

“I know. I want this so badly. But I have to tell you I don’t do this kind of thing.” Simon nibbled her earlobe and thrust his cock against her crotch. “What kind of thing is that, sweetheart?

“Spend the night with men I don’t know.”

“You know me.” His pants were working magic and she wanted them off him so badly she could scream.

“I don’t know you very well. I only know that I want you. I want—this.” She slid her hand down between them and gripped his cock through the fabric.

He groaned. “It’s all yours, honey. All yours. I don’t do this kind of thing either. Hell, I haven’t dated in two years.”

“I got you beat. It’s been almost three since I had a real date.” Simon looked at her. “We’re a fine pair, aren’t we? What say we make up for it tonight?” Eve met his look squarely. “Take me home and fuck me, Simon.”

“It will be my pleasure, Eve.”

She trembled. He held her close for a moment as they listened to their heartbeats pounding against each other.

“I hope you have protection, because I don’t,” muttered Eve.

Simon chuckled. “Ever the practical one, aren’t you, babe? Don’t worry. We’re walking home, and if memory serves me, there’s a drugstore along the way.”

Eve blinked. She’d completely forgotten where she was. Damn, he was good. She hoped and prayed he

’d be even better in bed.

“Come on. I think it’s time we took this someplace more private.” Simon grabbed her hand and hurried her down the street, heading to the all-night drugstore.

Eve raised an eyebrow as he grabbed a box of one hundred extra large condoms. “Optimistic?”

“Confident.”

“Oh my.” Eve swallowed. Visions of endless orgasms danced in her mind and nearly blinded her. Maybe even multiple orgasms, if there was such a thing, which she highly doubted. Perhaps the fuck fairy might grant her wish and show her that yes, Eve, there is a G-spot.

Well, okay, probably best not to push it
too
far.

Eve sighed, realizing she’d be happy just to wake up sore in the morning. That’s all she asked. One night of very nice fucking. That wouldn’t be too much, would it?

She looked at Simon as he paid for the box of condoms. To her, he looked like a God. Handsome inside and outside, funny, a pleasure to be with, single—oh God.

Eve grabbed his arm as they left the store. “You’re not married, are you?” Simon choked out a laugh. “Bit late to ask that, isn’t it?”

Simon
!”

“No Eve,” he answered, taking pity on her. “I’m absolutely not married. I can’t stand guys who hit on other women when they have a wife at home. Or worse, a wife and kids at home. I’m probably not married because I like women too much to settle down with just one. And recently it’s been all work all the time—I haven’t had time to think much about women or marriage or dating or anything but my career.”

Eve nodded and let him pull her back onto the sidewalk. “I hear you. Work can take over one’s life, that

’s for sure.”

He hugged her close again as the shadows of the street gave way to the lights in the parking lot of their apartment building. “Well, I promise that for the next few hours I’m not going to be thinking about work.

I…” he dropped a kiss on her hair, “…am going to be thinking about you.”

“You are?”

“Yep. Thinking about your lips, and your eyes, and a few other body parts.“ His hand slid to her behind and caressed it.

She sighed.

“Thinking about ways to explore those aforementioned body parts.” His tongue flicked her ear.

“Okay. Time to stop or you’re going to find out what it’s like to get raped in an elevator.” Eve hurried Simon through the security doors and up the elevator. She stared fixedly at the floor numbers because she knew if she looked at him she’d be all over him like frosting on a cupcake.

Simon grinned as she nearly dragged him to her apartment door. She heard him stifle his chuckle as she dropped her keys and cursed.

The door finally opened and she dragged him in behind her. “Oh God, Simon.
Now
.” Chapter 3

Simon obliged.

He was in as much hurry as Eve was to get where they wanted to be. He didn’t give her a chance to speak, just turned her as soon as they were in the darkened hallway.

The door slammed shut and he pressed Eve hard against it.

She hissed as his chest leaned into her breasts and he felt her nipples beading against him.

He wanted her so bad he could taste it. And her. His mouth bore down on hers harshly, taking everything she gave, demanding more. And he could feel her response, her passion, as she trembled beneath his assault.

Her hips ground against his cock in a blatant invitation he could not refuse.

“I want you.”

Simon wasn’t sure if it was his voice or hers. He decided it didn’t matter. Their goal was the same. He grabbed her hands and pushed them up and back against the door, pinning her in place.

His lips and tongue challenged hers, teasing, plundering, keeping her on the edge of desire. Her position pushed her breasts at him and he swiftly moved to hold her wrists with only one hand.

The other fell to her shirt and with a swift move he bared her. Raising his gaze upwards until their gazes met, he watched her eyes as he slid his hand into her bra and cupped her breast. Her sherry-colored eyes blazed at his touch and he heard himself moan as his fingers teased and pulled her already-hard nipple.
