Nieko draped his arm around her from the other side. “We can
make this work.” He stroked her arm. “We’ll make it work.”
“If it doesn’t, we can always come back,” Elijah added. “We
won’t be stuck there.” A touch of inspiration hit him. “And you can have a
kitten. Like you saw on the package in the supermarket.”
Eora’s eyes lit up. “A gray one? With long, fluffy fur? Or
maybe a black one.”
“If it makes you happy, you can have six cats!” Elijah
declared. Like Nieko, he was prepared to give her anything she wanted, now and
forever.
“Then it’s settled,” Eora breathed. “We’re going to live on
the surface.” She smiled.
Nieko’s eyes met Elijah’s in a look of mutual male understanding.
They were looking forward to spending a lot of time making Eora happy.
