Authors: Elizabeth Oldfield
I hung the rubber chicken behind the cloakroom door. ‘And now she has two happy children.’
‘Exceedingly happy.’ He followed me into the kitchen. ‘When we were in the car, Debbie said there was only one thing which could make their lives better. And Paul agreed.’
‘What’s that?’
Steve put his arms around me. ‘If you and I got married. Debbie reckons that by living in sin, we’re setting them a bad example. She also said that if people love each other, she believes they should do the old-fashioned thing and get married.
‘Make the ultimate commitment?’ I suggested, recalling what Justin had said about his relationship with Lynn.
‘Right. So how about it?’
I looked at him and grinned. I loved him so much. ‘Yes, please.’
‘But I thought you didn’t want to marry again?’
‘I thought you didn’t either.’
Steve smiled. ‘I’ve changed my mind.’
‘Me, too.’
Yes, I know I said we were perfectly content to cohabit and we are, but, like Jenny, I’m a sucker for a happy ending.

About The Author
Elizabeth Oldfield started writing as a teenager, when she had articles published in magazines and newspapers. Payment was in guineas – which tells you how long ago it was! On marriage, her creative instinct was diverted into the production of a daughter, and a son. Later, when her husband’s job took them to live in Singapore, she resumed writing. A chance attempt at romantic fiction proved successful and she went on to write forty genre romances for Harlequin Mills & Boon.
These were marketed in their millions, and in many different languages, around the world.
Aware of how few books explored the lives of women ‘of a certain age’, Elizabeth was eager to fill the gap – and
Vintage Babes
is the result.

What’s behind the threatening phone-calls? As the bar takes off, Gaynor’s life starts to fall apart.
Into her turmoil comes Sam – strong and silent with a hidden past.
