Trapped Between Two Alphas (4 page)

“How
do you know I was crying?” She wiped under her eyes to see they were dry.

“I
can scent your tears. What has upset you?”

She
frowned at his words. He could scent them?

“Kris!”
Matt said. His voice sounded like it held a warning.

The
two men glared at each other.

“You
two are really confusing me.” She pulled away from Kris and addressed Matt. He
seemed to be the more reasonable of the two men. “Is that my vehicle?
Because I can’t drive something like that.”

He
chuckled. The sound of Matt chuckling startled her. She froze to the spot.

“Sweetheart,
your car has been held up. I’m here to drive you to town. Kris wanted to tag
along.”

She
glanced between the two men. Kris kept reaching out and touching her. Even
though his touch made her freeze to the spot, she liked it when his skin was
against hers. His hands were rough from hard labour. She wondered what he did
on the ranch.

They
were both clearly in charge. She sensed the aura of power surrounding them.

“I’ll
grab my purse,” she said, heading back inside. Kris caught her hand pulling her
in close against him.

“You
don’t need your purse.”

“But
I need to pay for the groceries.” She gasped when she felt the heat of his cock
pressed against her stomach.

Fuck, he is huge.

“Kris,”
Matt said with a warning to his voice.

Kris
growled at him making her jump. Did the man holding her just growl? Great, she
was more confused than she’d ever been in her whole life.

He
turned to look at her. “You don’t need your purse because we’re paying for your
groceries.”

“You
don’t need to do that.”

“It’s
a gift,” Matt said.

“Okay.”
She looked at her door. Did she need to lock it?

“Leave
it. No one would dare break into it,” Kris said.

“How
do you know?” She didn’t pull her hand away when he led her down to the truck.

“They
know they’d have to deal with us.”

Not
arguing with him, Kris helped her into the truck. Matt climbed behind the wheel
and started up the engine, which purred to life. Kris shut the door sitting
beside her. The truck was large, but seated between the two men she felt the
space was particularly small.

Kris
placed his hand over her knee. She stared at his tanned palm against her pale
flesh. Her heart pounded inside her chest when he started stroking her skin.

Her
pussy heated. She’d been turned on reading the erotic romance books. Never had
she felt this kind of heat. She thought she was going to die. Clutching the
edge of the seat she stared out of the window as Matt pulled out of the
driveway.

“So,
Cynthia, tell me something about you,” Kris said, cutting through the silence.

She
stared at his lips unable to think of an answer. She’d promised herself she
wouldn’t tell anyone about her illness. “There’s nothing to tell.” She returned
her gaze to the road ahead.

“I
don’t believe it. A good looking woman like you should have lots to tell.” His
hand moved up an inch. Glancing down at her thigh she saw he’d exposed more of
her leg.

Licking
her lips she tried her best to think.

“Kris,
go easy on her. She’s new, and you don’t want to start scaring her off.”

“I’m
not scared,” she said.

Both
men turned to glance at her. She wasn’t scared, just nervous.

“What
do your family think of you moving out here?” Matt asked. His tone was soft as
he talked to her.

“My
parents are both gone. I don’t have any family left. I’m the only one left.”

“I’m
sorry to hear that. Both of our parents are gone as well,” Kris said, gaining
her attention.

“I
didn’t know you were related.” She glanced between them. Other than their dark
hair neither looked alike. They were both large, muscular men, but parents
didn’t determine if men worked out.

“No.
We’re not related. In fact this is the first time we’ve been in the same
vehicle with each other without trying to kill the other,” Matt said.

Glancing
between the two men she saw the humour on their faces. “Sorry to hear about
your parents. What happened?” she asked.

“Hunting
accident,” they said together.

“Wow,
I’m sorry. That sucks. It’s hard losing your parents.” She placed her hand over
the top of Kris’s on her leg then touched Matt. The spark that passed between
them made her break the contact. Why did she keep getting shocked when she
touched the pair of them?

“Yeah, it does.” Kris took her hand, kissing
her knuckles.

She
pulled her hand away smiling. Her hand shook from the kiss. They travelled down
the secluded road for several minutes without any of them saying a word.

Kris
stared down at her exposed thigh. Her scent filled the truck, making it hard
for him to concentrate on anything but her. The desire to reach out and claim
her was strong. He needed to get his wits about him before he did something to
scare her.

The
scent of her illness was stronger the closer he got to her. He hated the
illness and knew it was part of her and had been for some time. Kris closed his
eyes as the pain swept through him.

He’d
finally found his mate, the other half of himself, and she was ill. Changing
her posed a risk. If she wasn’t strong enough then the shock of the pain during
the transition would kill her.

Staring
over her head at Matt he saw the other man was struggling with the same urges.
Matt’s knuckles were white where he held onto the wheel.

Running
his fingers up her thigh, Kris scented the air for the distinctive scent of her
pussy. Her musky aroma filled the air overtaking the scent of death.

This
is how he wanted her. Aroused, wet, and waiting for him. Her hand covered his
as he moved farther up her thigh.

“Please,
stop,” she said. Her voice was filled with arousal. Did she have any idea how
turned on he was?

“You
want me,” he said, leaning close to inhale her neck. Shit, he needed a taste of
her. Brushing her hair off her shoulder he nibbled her neck.

She
gasped and moved her head to give him more access.

“What
are you doing?” she asked.

“I’m
making you feel good.”

He
licked along the pulse in her neck. Kris felt it speed up against his tongue.
The scent of her cunt overwhelmed him.

Matt
pulled up on the side of the road. The big man was taking huge gulps of air.

“What’s
going on?” she asked, staring from Kris to Matt.

Kris
glanced at Matt. The other man shook his head giving him the signal to stop.
Cupping her cheek Kris stared into her eyes. “I want you.”

“Is
that how you show it?”

He
chuckled. She was so damn innocent. “It’s how I show it.”

Moving
back Kris wound down the window to let the fresh air fill the car. When Matt’s
hands were no longer shaking he put the truck in gear and pulled away from the
road.

Kris’s
hands shook in his lap. He fought for control. How was he going to last before
his urges took over? The beast that lay dormant was making his presence known.
The alpha inside him wanted to take her.

Leaning
his head out of the window he inhaled the scent of the earth and the sun.
Cynthia didn’t speak for the remainder of the journey. The aroma of her arousal
continued to fill the cabin.

Matt
pulled up outside the supermarket. Kris climbed out then waited for her to give
him her hands. She hesitated staring into his eyes unsure.

“I’m
not going to hurt you,” he said, feeling protective of her.

“You
keep touching me. I don’t know you, but you treat me like you know me far more
than you should.”

He
rested his head against the metal of the truck. Placing his hand on her thigh
he stared up into her eyes.

“I’m
not going to lie to you, Cynthia. I want you. I’ve never wanted a woman the way
I want you. I ache with need to claim you.”

Matt
shot him a scowl as he came around the side of the truck.

Keeping
his attention on the woman in front of him Kris saw her brows furrowed in
confusion.

“Do
you mean sex?” she asked.

Letting
out a breath Kris nodded his head. Humans were such simple creatures. They only
ever saw the most basic of natures in everything. Sex to wolves between mates
meant something primitive and lasting. There had never been a divorce or
separation in his kind.

A
mate was for life.

Cynthia
surprised him when she gave him her hand. Her smile lit up her whole face. He
felt like someone had punched him in the gut at her smile. It was the most
beautiful sight he’d ever seen.

He
pulled her close feeling the swells of her tits press against his chest. Fuck,
he wanted her again. His cock thickened with need.

Matt
took her hand pulling her away. Kris took the time to get his raging body under
control.

Her
scent intoxicated him. She smelled better than any aged whisky or brandy. Matt
led her to the front of the supermarket. They passed several women who pointed
at him. He felt Kris walk up behind him. Cynthia grabbed a trolley and started
ahead of him. For several minutes he watched her gather some fresh vegetables.
The sundress did little to hide her body from his gaze.

There
wasn’t enough meat on her, but he knew why. The illness inside her was deadly,
and the scent kept growing.

Matt
knew what Kris was going through. He felt it every time he was near her. The
urge to claim her was strong and kept growing. Is this what his father had felt
about his mother? He wished with all of his heart he could talk to his father. There
was so much he didn’t know. One of his main concerns was sharing a mate with
Kris. He’d never heard of two alphas sharing a woman. Was it even possible?

When
he’d seen Kris kissing and stroking her he hadn’t been angry. The sight of them
together turned him on. How could it be possible? For the longest time he and
Kris had been sworn enemies.

You were enemies out of your own
stubbornness.

Their
parents hadn’t harboured any ill will, quite the opposite in fact. Matt
recalled their elders laughing about their squabble. He walked up behind
Cynthia as she bent over to grab some fruit.

There
was a time not too long ago when he and Kris had been the best of friends. They
were a family, even though they were the leaders of two different packs.

His
gaze wandered down to the curve of her ass. Matt saw her in his mind with
weight on.

The
darkness he’d seen in her eyes had clearly been put there because of endless
bad news.

Matt
placed his hands on her hips needing to touch her.

“You
keep touching me,” she said.

He
noticed she leaned back against him. The small touch gave him comfort. “I can’t
stop touching you.”

She
turned to face him. Her blue eyes were bright as she stared at him. “You want
me? How is that even possible?” she asked.

“How
is what possible?”

“I
go from having no one to two men wanting me.” She shook her head and continued
on. Kris stood by the trolley filling it with food. Matt chuckled when he saw
all the sweet stuff being added to the food.

“I’m
never going to eat all this,” she said.

“I
will.”

He
remembered Kris had a sweet tooth. Matt refused to break the contact he had
with her. The dress she wore clung to her skin in all the right places. His
cock thickened imagining her without a stitch of clothing on. She’d be a
fucking beautiful sight.

People
moved out of their path. Matt watched as they mumbled behind their hands. His
hearing picked up the gossip, and he frowned. They were all talking about how
different they were. None of them mentioned Cynthia, but they kept pointing to
him and Kris. He looked at Kris and saw the other man had clocked the gossip.
It wasn’t good. When his father was in charge no-one would dare utter a word to
them. He was starting to wonder if this town may know their secret. Matt didn’t
like it and the more he knew the less he liked.

The
hunters were closing in. He would consult his team and make sure guards were
made available to scout the area. If hunters were close then Matt wanted them
as far away from Cynthia as they could be.

He’d
heard rumours of them kidnapping people who were close to the pack. Once again
he was curious as to how the humans were discovering them.

When
Cynthia was finished Matt paid the bill then kept her close when he walked out.
Someone bumped into his side. They all stopped as the man looked at him. Matt
glanced down at what the man had pressed against his arm. A Bible lined with
silver pressed to his skin. Glancing down at the man Matt held his arms up.
