Torn (11 page)

It was her word against her Sidekick. On the flipside, Quan hated to see Mo so hurt and confused, but the thought of another man even looking at her, let alone fucking her, drove him insane with fury. No man wanted to think or believe that some other nigga had dipped into his honey pot. The mere thought of it made Quan want to throw up.

Mo, on the other hand, couldn't be more distraught. She, too, hated to see the one person she loved the most hurting, but telling Quan the truth was a no-no. Every woman knows, when caught up in a lie ... deny, deny, deny. She wasn't about to tell him that Tez was a guy she used to mess with back in high school.

She wasn't about to tell him that they still kept in touch.

And she really wasn't about to tell him that they'd even fucked a few times. But if Mo could take it all back and do it all over again she would, because Tez was just way too clingy. The nigga got one whiff of the pussy and was sprung.

A day didn't go by where he wasn't calling or text messaging her. Mo didn't want to hurt his feelings but she was gonna have to set him straight. Tez wasn't about to fuck up her happy home. She would kill his ass before she allowed that to happen.

Gazing into his frustrated eyes for what seemed like hours, Mo watched as tears welled up in Quan's eyes. But Quan would never let a tear fall. He was way too fly for that. Besides, he was tired of playing games with Mo. If she was lying, he would learn the truth sooner or later, so without uttering one more word he exited the room, leaving her standing there alone. Later on that afternoon, Quan and his boys were posted up on the block doing what they did best - talking shit and smoking trees. Instead of hitting the blunt, Quan opted to smoke a Black & Mild. He didn't like smoking after anybody, including his boys. Too many of them niggas ate pussy and fucked wit trifling hoes.

Quan had a small clique of dudes that he called his friends, and the three men that were surrounding him now were it.

Out of the all the dudes, he and West were the closest. They both grew up on the same block and attended the same schools. West was the other ladies' man of the group. He never dated the same woman for more than a month.

He wasn't your typical around the way brother, either. He and Quan were nothing alike, as far as appearances go. He didn't rock baggy pants, Tims and gaudy jewelry. West was more of a clean-cut type brother. He was six foot two with milk chocolate skin, spinning waves, dreamy eyes, luscious lips and a goatee.

Stacy, on the other hand, was not a ladies man at all. He was five foot six and weighed damn near three hundred pounds. The man loved to eat, but when it came down to putting in some work, he was always ready to get on the grind.

Quan and Cam had been friends for years as well. The moment the two men met, they respected each other's gangsta. Cam was a good-looking dude with a pretty-boy face, but underneath his good looks lay a cold-hearted killer. Looking up at the sky, Quan noticed that the sun was almost about to set. It was only eighty-five degrees outside and the cool air blowing from the trees had him feeling right.

"What y'all gettin' into tonight?" Stacy questioned.

"Shit. I might go see this lil' honey I'm hollering at," West declared, inhaling the smoke from the blunt into his lungs.

"You talkin' about shorty with the fat ass that work out at Maxim?"

"Yeaaaah, that's her."

"Oh word? You hittin' that already?" "What, you ain't know," West boasted with a wide grin on his face.

"This nigga," Stacy laughed, shaking his head. "But, ah, I was planning on going down to Dreams. Y'all wanna roll?" Everybody said yes except for Quan. He was so into his thoughts that he wasn't even paying attention to the conversation. His mind was still on Mo and the text message from Tez. The man needed some answers, and the ones Mo had given were just not good enough, so Quan was about to do something he'd never done before - go to his boys for advice.

"Yo, check this bullshit out."

"What's good, fam?" Cam said.

"Earlier today me and Mo was about to go shopping and her Sidekick started buzzing. She was in the shower so I checked it for her, right. Well guess who it was texting her?"

"Who?" Cam asked, wanting to know.

"Some nigga name Tez."

"Tez? Who the fuck is Tez?" West wondered out loud.

"That's what I'm tryin' to figure out." Quan shook his head.

"Yo, I think I know that name from somewhere. As a matter of fact, I think my sister used to fuck wit a nigga name Tez," Cam said, scratching his head.

"Oh, word?"

"Yeah his name was Chantez Wilson if I'm correct and I think ... he used to live in Pagedale off of Ferguson."

"Did they go together?"

"I don't know all that. All I know is he was big on her."

"My thing is, what the fuck he still doing callin' her?" West instigated.

"Evidently Mo still fuckin' wit him," Quan replied as his blood pressure began to rise.

"Before you get to jumpin' to conclusions, what the text message say?" Stacy questioned.

"Maaan, that nigga was on some ole gay shit! Talkin about ... why you doing me like this ... I love you ... you playin' too many games, some ole sucka shit!"

"Word?" West laughed.

"Yeah."

"Damn ... what she do to that nigga to have him going crazy like that?"

"Hold up. What you tryin' to say, dude?"

"I ain't tryin' to say nothing! I'm tryin' to figure out why this man still callin' yo' gal! I'm tryin' to help you out. Calm down, nigga!"

"My bad, dog. This shit just fuckin' wit my head man, yo."

"I can understand. Shiiit, I'd be feelin' the same way if Mo was my gal."

"So what my lil' sister have to say?" Cam continued on.

"She claim she don't know why he sent the message."

"And you believe that shit! I'm embarrassed!" West chuckled, clowning him.

"Nigga, fuck you," Quan said, pissed. He wasn't used to looking like a fool in front of his boys. Usually he was making them look like the fools.

"Yo, for real, Mo my sister and all but homegirl just straight up ran all game on you, son." Cam chuckled.

"You better find out where Mo at now. She probably wit that nigga as we speak while you on the verge of tears! Think about it! While you make time to do all the shit you do, she doing just as much if not more. AND SHE HOT? Come on man, get wit it!" West added, throwing gasoline on the fire.

"See, this nigga right here got life fucked up. He got Mo up on this pedestal like she ain't above doing dirt. You better get yo' head out the clouds, nigga! All these chicks out here these days are scandalous. You better remember how it was when you first got wit her ass! From the jump Mo was playin' games!"

"I can't even front, you tellin' the truth," Quan agreed.

"Nigga, you know what it is! Like Mannie Fresh say, chicks these days gotta cheat on they man just to get ahead!" And West was exactly right. Quan couldn't believe that he had been fooled by Mo of all people. Hell, he was the one who taught her the game. There was no way she was gonna play him and get away with it. He had to teach her a lesson. After the verbal bashing he got from his boys, Quan was past heated, he was pissed! He didn't even have two words for Mo when he got home, he was so mad. The entire time they got dressed to go out, she kept on asking him what was wrong, but Quan would simply ignore her. He knew that if he brought up the situation while he was angry he might haul off and slap the shit outta her, and Quan didn't want to do that.

No, they would discuss it when he cooled down. Mo figured he was still mad over the text message from Tez, so she left well enough alone. It was the Fourth and she was looking forward to having a good time with her family and friends. If he didn't want to talk about it, then Mo was more than cool with that. The less drama she had to deal with the better.

After valet parking Quan's silver SLR McLaren, he and Mo entered club Dreams looking like the hood stars they were. He was donned in a black button-up with the sleeves rolled up, Dolce & Gabbana jeans and custom-made black and white Air Force 1's. His hair was freshly cut and lined up. Covering his eyes were a pair of black tinted Gucci aviator shades, and the boy wore so much ice he was sure to blind some folks. Quan sported his diamond stud earrings, $250,000 chain filled with six carat diamonds and a matching bracelet.

Mo didn't look too bad herself. She rocked the hell out of a black cowl neck halter top by Stella McCartney. The back was completely out, showcasing her tattoo and toned back, to Quan's dismay. Mo wore no bra. Her breasts were perky so she could get away with wearing tops like that. To complete the outfit she sported a pair of black skinny-leg jeans, green Zac Posen peep toe pumps and a green clutch purse. Her hair was pulled to the back in a Dutch braid. Seven carat diamond studs shined from her ears and a brand new $50,000 dollar diamond bracelet gleamed on her wrist.

Quan was pissed to say the least about her barely-there outfit, but he kept it cool. Later on that night he was gonna make sure to dig in that ass.

They could barely make it through the club it was so jam-packed. Huey's "
Pop, Lock & Drop It
" was thumping out of the surround-sound speakers. Quan held Mo's hand and led her over to his boys, who were already poppin' bottles in the V.I.P. section upstairs.

"Damn, y'all couldn't wait on me?" he teased West.

"Nigga, time waits for no man."

"What's up, big head?" Cam smiled, giving his lil' sister a hug.

"Nigga, my head ain't big."

"Mo ... you got a big ole dome-shaped head."

"Fuck you!" she laughed, pushing him.

"Baby girl!" Stacy spoke with his arms stretched out wide.

"
Stacy,
how you doing baby?"

"Good."

"That's what's up. What's good, West? You can't speak?" Mo said, fuckin' with him.

"You know I was gon' speak to you, girl." He smiled, giving her a big bear hug. "You look nice," he continued, eyeing her sensuous frame.

"Thanks, West, so do you."

And Mo was telling God's honest truth. That night he had on a striped gray and white Armani button up, gray slacks and Prada shoes. West looked good, but he smelled even better.

One whiff of his Cartier cologne filled her nose and heightened her senses.

"Yeah, you know she had to come out half-naked," Quan shot sarcastically.

"Boy please! The only thing you can see on me are my arms and back, so quit trippin'," Mo shot back.

"Mo, you ain't got on no bra and yo' ass damn near smackin' muthafuckas as you walk by!"

"Man, leave that girl alone," West reasoned.

"You right. I'm sorry baby." He kissed her cheek. "We gon' have a good time tonight. As a matter of fact, pass me one them bottles."

Thirty minutes later, Quan had downed a half a bottle of Patron, and had taken two cups of Grey Goose to the head. Mo just stood over to the side by herself watching him. She knew before the night was over he was gonna be pissy drunk. On top of that, Quan started making it rain by throwing a wad of money out onto the dance floor below.
This nigga done lost his mind. I could've went shoppin' wit that money
, she thought. Deciding she'd seen enough, Mo went over to talk some sense into him.

"Baby, don't you think you need to slow down a bit? I mean, damn, we did just get here. You got all night to get fucked up."

"I'm good. You just worry about your pretty little self, a'ight," Quan said, staring her down with a glossed-over look in his eyes.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

"We'll talk about it later."

"Whateva." Mo rolled her eyes and walked away. She was sick of Quan and his slick-ass comments.

Tired of being up in V.I.P., she headed down to the dance floor. The remix to Cassie's song "
Me & U
" was playing. While walking she noticed Tez and a group of dudes coming through the door.
Now I remember why I fucked him
, Mo thought as her eyes skimmed over his physique. Tez looked good as hell in a white and black Adidas jacket, white tee, jeans and shell-toe Adidas. His long hair was braided to the back and a platinum chain rested on his chest.

But Mo couldn't sweat him none. Her mind was on the dance floor. As soon as her feet hit the floor her body began to sway to the hypnotic beat. Twirling her mid-section like a snake, she caught every man in the club's attention. Mo could dance her ass off. With her eyes closed, she popped her booty and sang along to the words.

"
I know them other guys ... they been talkin'

about the way I do what I do ... They heard I was good
they wanna see if it's true ...
" She didn't even know it but Quan and Tez were eyeing her the entire time. Both men were mesmerized by the suggestive words and the way Mo sang them. Mo didn't make it any better by winding her hips and caressing her body as she vibed to the beat. She had totally gone to another place. She didn't care who was in the club watching her.
