There's Always Tomorrow (Immortal Series) (26 page)

Tony waited for
the gasp that was sure to follow, hearing her one-time lover was now a monster,
or the hysterical laughter that would tell him she thought he was insane.

Instead, Bea just sat there, deep in thought.

“I wouldn’t
want to live forever,” she declared, finally.

“In fact, I’m ready to go right now.

I’ve had a good life and I’ve had one
spectacular lover.”

Her eyes
sparkled with mischief.

“If you
say this is your life, then I believe you.

After all, what else could explain what I see with my own
two eyes?”

She grabbed his chin
and turned his face one way, then the other.

She lovingly patted his cheek.

Sophie and Tony
let out the breath they had each been holding.

This was a very intelligent woman, sitting in their living
room, and Sophie realized, she would like to have known her better, back in the
day.

There was no doubt they would
have been fast friends.

“Well, that’s
great, Bea,” Tony exclaimed, feeling like the weight of the world had been
lifted from his shoulders.

“I felt
you deserved to know why I left you, the way I did.

You don’t hate me?”

“Hate
you?”

She rolled her eyes.

“I love you, dear boy,” she
cajoled.

“You know, Tony, each
birthday is a priceless gift and every day is to be celebrated.

Remember that, darling.”

Glancing up at
the clock on the mantel, Bea was astonished to discover the hour.

“Oh, my, just look at the time.

I’ve got to get going.

My friend, Alice, and I have tickets to
see a Broadway show.

Can you have
that nice driver of yours take me to my hotel, Tony?”

“No problem,
but wouldn’t you rather have me drive you?

I’ve got a Porsche.”

He grinned, dangling his keys in his hand.

Bea smiled at
Sophie, and then looked back at Tony.

“I think you should stay here, with your beautiful wife.

You might have a little explaining to
do.”

She chuckled, as she stood up
and gave them both a friendly kiss on the cheek.

“Life’s full of
surprises, isn’t it?” she exclaimed, with a smile upon her lips.

“I wish you both well.”

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

“Who would have thought the old gal
would have taken that revelation so calmly?

I guess some people grow wise with age, is that right,
Tony?”

Sophie could barely contain
her laughter.

“Are you saying
I’m not wise, wife?

I was wise
enough to have married you, yes?”

“That’s well
put, but I still think she was remarkable.

Was she very beautiful when you knew her?”

Here it comes,
he thought.

“Yes, darling, she was
amazingly beautiful and uncommonly kind.

And before you ask…I thought I loved her.

Does that make a difference?”

Tony worried that maybe he’d made a mistake by discussing
his past life with Bea, in front of his wife.

He should have talked to her privately.

Sophie nodded,
her forehead wrinkled in thought.

It was several minutes before she responded.

“I thought I loved you, Tony.”

Tony jumped to
his feet and rushed to his wife’s side.

His mouth went dry with the fear.

What did she mean by that?.

“Sophie, I...”

“Please, Tony,
let me finish.

I thought I loved
you more than was humanly feasible, but after seeing you with Bea, I found I
love you even more—if that’s possible.

After all these years, you still feel something for
her.

It’s so beautiful it almost
breaks my heart.

I liked her, and
she has exemplary good taste in men.

I am a very lucky woman.”

Tony was
awestruck.

“You’re not mad or
jealous?”

She
laughed.

“I hope I haven’t bruised
your male pride by approving of your choice of lady friends.

How can I be jealous of a relationship
that occurred before my mother was born?

Get real, Tony.

Life goes
on, after all.”

She swirled around
the chair and grabbed her husband by the front of his shirt.

“Kiss me, or
else,” she purred.

Tony
grinned.

“Or else, what?” he
teased.

Sophie’s small
but agile fingers worked the buttons on his shirt.

“Or I’ll have my way with you…willing or not.”

She watched Tony’s eyes light up, and
noticed a deep, red blush start to creep up from below his collar.

“Well?” she asked, as she lowered his
face, bringing his lips within kissable range.

Tony loved it
when his wife took the initiative.

She was very seductive, in her innocence, and it was an incredible
turn-on for him.

“Ordinarily, I
would like nothing more than to kiss you senseless, but in this instance, it
may be more fun to let you have your way,” he chuckled.

“You asked for
it,” Sophie giggled, pulling Tony toward their bedroom.

The thought of having control over such
a magnificent man was delicious.

Her body tingled and her mind conjured all the wonderful things she
wanted to do with him.

She was
breathless by the time she pushed him down across their bed.

“Unzip ‘em,”
she ordered, looking down on her captive.

Tony wasted no
time in complying with her wishes.

He unbuckled his belt, slipped the button, holding the waistband
together, through its hole, and slowly slid the zipper down.

He could feel his cock coming to life
and trying to free itself from its confines.

He watched Sophie run her pink tongue across her upper
lip.

“Dear God, make this quick,”
he prayed.

Sophie saw the
bulge in his trousers and the dark, desirous look in his eyes.

Her husband was sufficiently aroused,
and now she intended to make him explode with passion.

Unexpectedly,
Sophie stepped back from the bed, and slowly unzipped the back of her
dress.

She let her fingers glide
down the smooth fabric and end just below the waist.

Then grasping the thin spaghetti straps on her bodice, she
eased each one over her shoulders, one at a time.

Tony
groaned.

He adjusted himself, as
the open zipper had gotten quite uncomfortable.

Sophie saw his
discomfort, and smiled seductively.

She continued with her slow strip tease, kicking off one shoe, sending
it halfway across the room, and then sent its mate following it.

With small, deft moves, she slowly let
the dress peel its way down her body, revealing her curves and her new French
lingerie.

She smiled.

“Ah,
Magnifique,” Tony sighed, as he gazed up from the bed.

Sophie had the face of an angel and the
body of a temptress.

There, Sophie
stood; proud of the effect her near nudity had on her husband.

She knew she looked sexy and she was
glad for it.

It was fun to watch
Tony lust after her body and know he was craving to do all the naughty things
they both enjoyed so much.

It was time to
give Tony some relief.

Grinning,
she approached his prone body, crawled upon the mattress, and bent over
him.

He smelled so delightfully
masculine.

The scent of spice and
the woodsy outdoors filled her nostrils.

She tugged on his waistband, and slipped his trousers passed his slim
hips.

Tony was built like a V,
broad at the shoulders and tapered perfectly to strong thighs and calves.

Even his feet were impressive.

He lay there, almost naked.

His shirt was open, revealing his
magnificent chest and ripped abs.

His navel was extraordinary, Sophie mused.

Only his black silk shorts stood between her and
heaven.

They had to go.

Tony gasped, as
he heard the sound of very expensive silk, ripping at the hands of his eager
wife, and he chuckled.

“Mmmm.” Sophie
moaned.

“What have I found here?”
she teased.

“It’s so large and
firm.

I think I’d like to taste
it.”

She pulled her curls back
from her face, to give her husband an unobstructed view of her taking his cock
into her mouth.

Just as she had
expected, it resulted in his loud groaning with pleasure.

“Mmmm, you like
this, Tony?” she managed to ask, while running her tongue up one side and down
the other.

He was
speechless, as he knotted his fingers in her incredible hair.

The feel of her warm mouth, engulfing
his manhood, was indescribable.

Who taught her to use her tongue that way, he wondered?

He needed to send the man a Thank You
card.

Sophie put her
little butt up in the air, just out of Tony’s reach, and continued to pay her
respects to his cock.

She could
sense he was about to explode and it gave her a thrill.

There was a lot to be said for being in
charge.

Suddenly,
Sophie felt herself flipping through the air.

Tony had had enough.

He couldn’t keep still, while watching his wife suck him like a Hoover.

He wanted to bury himself so deep in
her that she cried out his name in ecstasy.

Holding her hands above her head, he lowered his mouth to
her breast and returned the favor, sucking on her ripe, pink nipple.

“Oh, Tony.

It feels so good.

Don’t stop,” she pleaded.

As he touched
his fingers to her most private place, he was delighted to discover how wet she
was.

Sophie was turned on and
ready to be filled by him.

Within
a moment, Tony slipped into her slick folds, and rejoiced in her loud
gasp.

She was tight and it felt
amazing.

He stroked her,
hard and fast.

Up and down, in and
out, until she exploded into a thousand pieces.

Again and again, she cried out his name, as her beautiful
body shook with its release.

At last, Tony
gave himself permission to follow his wife in ecstasy.

With another hard thrust, he felt his
body stiffen, as his orgasm filled her up.

Never had making love to a woman been as perfect as joining
with his wife.

He’d known many
beautiful and wonderful women, over the years, but no one exactly like Sophie.

As Sophie
slept, Tony lay awake, starring off into the darkness.

It was more important than ever that he
find a cure.

He needed to be
completely mortal for his Sophie and their baby.

Perhaps he would resume his research.

The caves in New Mexico held
promise.

Yes, in the morning, he
would try to contact Grant, and assuming all was okay with him, he’d make a few
calls to New Mexico.

* * *

It was good to
hear Grant’s voice.

Tony was still
reeling from the battle they’d fought with an old acquaintance, in
Romania.

It had been bloody, but
the Hunter prevailed.

Tony had
tried to coax Grant into flying home with him, but the Hunter said he wasn’t
finished.

Grant was on
the trail of something big, and by the sound of it, extremely dangerous.

A trusted and very powerful ally had
betrayed them all.

He needed to
remain in Romania for a few more weeks and follow up on several new leads.

It was imperative that he identify
other immortals that may have chosen to follow the “old man”.

“I’m glad you
and Sophie are getting along so well,” Grant snickered.

“I always knew you two would be just
perfect
together.

You deserve each other,”
he laughed.

Tony laughed
with him.

“I don’t know if that’s
a good thing or a bad thing, coming from you.

You thought I was too serious and morose, and you thought of
Sophie as a total ditz.

But I
guess all’s well that ends well.”

Grant was
silent for a few seconds.

“Tony,
I’ve discovered something, here, and it may upset you.

As soon as I get the situation under
control, I’ll explain it all to you and let you decide what you want to
do.

It could make you very, very
happy, but it’s too soon to speak of it, now.

Just be assured, I’ll do everything, in my power, to bring
this to a positive conclusion.

For
now, you take care of Sophie and yourself.”

“That’s
cryptic.

I’ll be wondering what
you’re up to, while I’m in bed, making love to my amazing wife,” he joked.

“Sure you
will,” answered his friend.

Seriously,
Grant, I want to let you know I’m taking off for Placitas.

We’ll be staying for a couple of
weeks.

You can reach me on my cell
or at the Holiday Inn.”

“Holiday
Inn?

Are you sure you can afford
it?” Grant teased.

“Seriously,
bro.

When are you going to give up
on finding a cure?

There’s nothing
out there that can change your fate.

And why would you want to, anyway?

Mortality is seriously overrated.

You’d get sick, grow old, and die.

Where’s the fun in that?

Seriously, enjoy your life with your pretty little wife.

Have a couple of equally pretty babies,
and relax for the next twenty years.

It’s a fool’s errand you’re on, Tony.”

Tony knew that
Grant meant well, but he just didn’t understand his need to be like everyone
else.

If he had to face an
eternity without his wife and children, then he just wouldn’t face it at all.

There had to be a way out and he was
committed to find it.

“I’ll never
quit looking, Grant.

Wish me
luck.

The healing waters of New
Mexico are my last resort.

I’ll
let you know how everything turns out.

“Yeah.

Well, I’ve got a few loose ends to tie up, so I’ll see you
in a month or so.

You know how to
reach me.

Take care, Tony.

Kiss Sophie for me.”

“Glady.”

As an afterthought, Tony chuckled.

“Beware of helping gypsies, Grant.

They can be trouble.”

Both men
laughed and said, simultaneously,

“Keep safe.”

The line went
dead and Tony turned toward his wife, sitting at the table.

“Start packing, sweetness.

You and I are taking a road trip to New
Mexico.

Have you ever been to the
desert?”
