The Werewolf Mega-Bundle 2 (Ten BBW Paranormal Erotic Romance Stories) (25 page)

She had coldly rejected him afterwards, and he had wondered for a moment if perhaps she was just like the rest of her werewolf-hating family. As he pondered it, however, he had realized that she had almost certainly been lying to get him out of the mansion safely. If she really didn’t care about him, then she would have had no problem calling her father and his friends to come and get rid of him, and she had even warned him about putting his mask back on to make sure he wasn’t noticed by anyone.
She’s an even better person than I could have ever imagined.

As hard as he tried to make himself leave the property, he just couldn’t. Not without seeing her one more time. His ears turned to points, and his hands and feet into paws as he quickly shifted in the gardens nearby, and he tried to pick up on her scent to locate her room, hoping that she was in it and not still out in the ballroom. The pouring rain made it difficult, but he finally managed to catch her intoxicating scent, and dashed around to the other side of the mansion.

There she is.
Transforming back into his human form, he stood under the balcony, and while he couldn’t actually see her, he knew that he was at the right place. His nose told him that she was in that room, close to one of the windows, and he pondered his next course of action.
I could throw a stone at her window, but they are probably rigged with some kind of alarm.

Instead, he decided to simply call out her name, desperately hoping that she would hear through the pounding rain. He didn’t even care if anyone else heard him. He just wanted to see her face one last time.

As Juliette sobbed into her pillow, she thought she heard a faint voice calling her name. Assuming it was just someone at her bedroom door, she ignored it and pulled the sheets up over herself.

Seconds later, she heard the voice again, louder this time.
Roman. What the hell is he doing?
Springing out of bed, she dashed over to her balcony door and opened it. Roman was standing on the ground below, his hair and clothes completely soaked as he shouted her name.

“What are you doing?” she said. “Please, Roman, you have to leave!”

“I don’t care if I get caught. Please, Juliette. I need you to be my mate. There’s no one else in the world but you.”

“No!” she cried. “My family would literally kill you if they knew you were here. Please listen to me!”

“Run away with me, then,” he begged. “I know you were lying when you said you felt nothing earlier. You felt the same as me. It was everything. Please, Juliette, come with me.”

“How?” she said softly. “I can’t just leave.”

“Why not? Are you happy here?”

“No. I hate what my family is doing to your people. But… my whole life is here.”

“Take what you need, and run away with me. We’ll go up to one of the free states, and I’ll take care of you for the rest of your life. Please, Juliette, just consider it.”

Juliette stood in the pouring rain, not even caring that she was getting completely drenched. She thought back to earlier, when she had been wondering what it would take to make her finally leave her family. Despite how much she hated what they were doing, they were still her family, and she loved them. But on the other hand, she couldn’t deny what she had experienced tonight with Roman. They had something special, and she chewed her lip before finally answering him.

“Wait there for a minute.”

She quickly changed into jeans, boots, a T-shirt and a thick black coat and scarf, and then packed a small bag with the bare necessities and some mementos of her family. Before she left, she penned a note to her mother and father, leaving it sitting on her dressing table for them to find.

‘Dear Mom and Dad,

Please understand that I am not doing this to hurt you. I love you very much, but I cannot take what you are doing any longer. By the time you read this, I will be gone. I want…
no, I need to be with Roman Montgomery, and I know that you would never allow it in a million years, so I have to leave this place. Please don’t hate me. If the war you are waging on werewolves ever ends, and you think you can forgive me, I will come back. Until then, goodbye.

Love, Juliette.

She knew that they would be shocked beyond belief, but it didn’t matter. She wouldn’t be made to marry a man that she didn’t even like, and she wouldn’t stand by idly as her family killed innocent werewolves any longer.

Grabbing her bag, she quietly padded downstairs, and heard strains of music coming from the ballroom. The ball was clearly still in full swing, and no one would notice that she was gone for hours. She sneaked out one of the back doors, and then ran as fast as she could to Roman.

As he saw her coming towards him, he ran towards her and scooped her up in his arms, kissing her neck before setting her back down on the ground and leaning down. As he pressed his lips to hers, Juliette felt the same fireworks from earlier, and she knew for certain that she had made the right decision.

“Come on,” she whispered, finally breaking the kiss. “We have to leave, now.”

She knew of an unguarded back entrance to the property, and as they dashed through the rain towards it, she couldn’t believe how much her life had changed in just one night. It didn’t matter that she was leaving almost everything from her old life behind. She was going to start a new life with Roman as his mate, and if her family ever wanted to see her again, then they would have to end their years of oppression against his kind.

As they reached the gate, Roman tenderly pushed wet strands of hair out of her face and looked down at her, his bright green eyes glowing with adoration.

“Are you ready?” he asked softly.

“Yes,” she replied.

With Roman as her mate, she knew that she was ready for anything.
