He signaled to his men, and then urged his horse forward. The carter whipped the massive bullocks lashed to the huge cart. The creatures lowed and strained at the yoke until the cart rolled over the bridge behind Lord Derek, the two sleek statues rocking and swaying with their labored progress.

Alverian Empire:
During the war, Alverian wizards unleashed a transformation spell intended to change their soldiers into warriors with animalistic attributes to improve their fighting. However, the power of the spell caused it to destroy the wizards and break free, causing chaos and ultimately destroying the Empire.
Aquea:
goddess of water
Back gardens:
gardens where only royalty are permitted for reasons of privacy
Brood mother:
a female dragon, parent of a chick or chicks
Centerlight:
midday
Centernight:

Centrotations:
one hundred rotations (years)
Coatdress:
a heavy woolen or brocade dress made to button over an underdress of lighter material such as linen
Changing lands:
lands were wild magical spells randomly transform people into human–animal hybrids
Chipbark:
cheap material for making hats; bark from a common tree that comes off in chips
