Faith Ahya is regarded as the mother of the newest incarnation of the Dhai nation, founded five hundred years before when she led an uprising of Dhai slaves in Dorinah. Flame Flies
Thumbnail-sized insects which create light when they fly. On settling, the light dims and eventually fades after a few minutes. To rouse a light, one must only shake the lantern.
Floxflass
A yellow, thorny plant that creeps over and consumes its victims. It’s leaves are slightly sticky, and taste sweet.

The island continent that is home to the countries of Dhai, Dorinah, Aaldia and Tordin, located at the far tip of the Saiduan continent.
Hadaoh Alais Garika
Husband to Meyna Salisia Mutao and brother to Rhin Gaila Garika, Lohin Alais Garika and Yisaoh Alais Garika.
Hahko
Hahko was a former slave in Dorinah, and aided his lover Faith Ahya in leading the uprising of the Dhai slaves from the scullery of Daorian. The two became the first rulers of the independent Dhai state, the first in over eighteen hundred years, after the defeat of the Dhai by the Saiduan roughly the same time ago.

High Season
There are eight seasons in a year on Raisa: low spring, high spring, low summer, high summer, low fall, high fall, low winter, high winter. In general “high” seasons tend to bring with them more extreme weather than low seasons.

A powerful parajista/tirajista living near Lake Morta in Dorinah. One of the Empress of Dorinah’s seekers.

Jasoi (Januvar) of Lind
Native to Tordin, Jasoi’s title among the Dorinahs is Syre. She is Zezili Hasaria’s secondary commander.

A sanisi, and one of Maralah Daonia’s first students. Left hand of the Patron of Saiduan. Called the Shadow of Caisau. A parajista.

Honorific used for the leader of the Dhai people.
Kakolyn Kotaria
Commander of the northern legion in Dorinah.
Kalinda Lasa
A wayhouse keeper and parajista.
Karosia Soafin
Local priest and moderately gifted tirajista living near Zezili Hasaria’s estate in Dorinah.
Keeper Takanaa
Keeper of the Patron of Saiduan’s household.
Kihin Moarsa Garika
A novice at the Temple of Oma. Tir Salarihi Garika’s youngest son.
Kindar
A strategy game played in Dhai which involves the manipulation, swapping, and managing of copious “family” pieces to achieve a numerical win and box in one’s opponent.
Kirana Javia Garika
Former Kai of the Dhai. Sister to Akhio Javia Garika. Daughter of Javia Mia Sorai. A tirajista.
Kosomey Orisa Mutao
An Ora in residence at the Temple of Oma. Parajista.
Kuallina Stronghold
Central hold in Dhai where militia are stationed, led by Ghrasia Madah. Also serves as the hub for the Line system, which connects holds and temples throughout the country.
Lake Morta
Lake in northwestern Dorinah which is the subject of many stories, and thought to be a holy place, blessed of Rhea. Attracts many pilgrims and vacationers in the summer months.
Lake Orastina
A lake west of Lake Morta in Dorinah.
Lanilu Asaila Sorila
A Dhai scholar who travels to Saiduan with Dasai. Married to Aramey Dahina Dasina.
Laralyn Maislyn
A Dorinah Seeker. Tirajista.

A dajian who lives with Emlee in the dajian camp near Liona.

Line
A living transportation system connecting major strongholds in Dhai. People travel inside chrysalises built expressly for the purpose, which crawl along a giant living cable. Chrysalises dissolve on arrival.
Liona Stronghold
Hold that occupies the pass next to the valley that cuts through the mountain range separating Dhai and Dorinah. The forces stationed here are captained by Ghrasia Madah Taosina.
Livia Hasaria
Zezili Hasaria’s mother. A weakly gifted tirajista who specializes in the creation of mirrors infused with the power of Tira. Resides in the city of Saolina.
Lohin Alais Garika
Husband to Kirana Javia Garika, making him the titled Catori. Brother to Yisaoh, Rhin and Hadaoh.
Lord’s Book of Unmaking
A Saiduan book with extensive appendices that include love poetry written to Oma by a sixth century Saiduan scholar.
Low Season

Luna
A Dhai slave living in Dorinah, and a scholar of Dhai matters. Won by Shao Maralah Daonia in a card game.
Mahuan
Type of river plant with bold blue flowers whose roots are ground up into a powder and mixed with water, then drunk as a philter to soothe symptoms of asthma.
Mardanas
Quarter in the religious sector of Dorinah cities where men serve Rhea by bringing both pleasure and children to women. Also called “cat-houses.”
Marhin Rasanu Badu
A Kuallina militia member.
Masura Gailia Saobina
Elder Ora of the Temple of Tira, Masura oversees everyday management of that temple. A tirajista.
Maralah Daonia, Shao
A powerful sinajista, and acting War Minister for Saiduan. Also known as the Sword of Albaaric. Sister of General Rajavaa Daonia.
Masoth Chaigaan Taar, Shas
A sanisi and the Patron of Saiduan’s eldest son. A tirajista.
Matias Hinsa Raona
Ora and doctor at the Temple of Oma. A tirajista.
Meyna Salisia Mutao
Ahkio Javia Garika’s housemate and lover. Married to Hadaoh Alais Garika and Rhin Gaila Garika.

Ohanni Rorhina Osono
An Ora and dance teacher at the Temple of Oma. Parajista.
Oma
A heavenly body which appears in the sky above Raisa every 2,000 years (or so). The light it shines is red. Those with the ability to channel Oma can wield the abilities of all satellites, and also gain additional powers, which may include opening gateways between spaces, healing grievous injuries, raising the dead, and/or enhancing the abilities of others.
Oma may also be called Lord of Heaven, Lord of the Dawn, Lord of Awakening, or Lord of Change and is referred to in Dorinah scripture as the Eye of Rhea.
Omajista
Sorcerers with the ability to channel Oma. They can wield the abilities of all satellites, and also gain additional powers, which may include opening gateways between spaces, healing grievous injuries, raising the dead, and/or enhancing the abilities of others.
Additional names for omajistas: omajika, makers, breakers, worldbreakers, disrupters.
Ora
Title/honorific for a Dhai magician-priest, one who is able to channel the power of Oma, Sina, Tira, or Para. Oras often act as teachers and religious keepers/advisors in the temples of Dhai.
Osoraan Mhoharan, Patron
Patron of Saiduan before Alaar Masoth Taar.
Pana Woodlands
Also simply referred to as “the woodlands” this area stretches from the base of Mount Ahya in Dhai all the way to the sea, blanketing the western half of the country. Dangerous, contaminated, and very wild, exiled Dhai or “woodland Dhai” have lived here for centuries.
Para
A heavenly body which appears above Raisa for roughly four years, with a ten-year absence between appearances (approximate). Para’s light is blue, and those who can call on it may be able to manipulate air to affect weather, use as shields, call tornadoes, etc. Many are also immune to wards, and cannot be bound by them.
Para has also been called the Lord of the Air, or “Rhea’s blue daughter,” in Dorinah.
Parajista
Refers to those who can call on Para when it is ascendant. Abilities include the manipulation of air to affect weather, use as shields, call tornadoes, etc. Many parajistas are also immune to wards, and cannot be bound by them.
