The Ghost and the Darkness Volume 1 (The Fallocaust Series Book 2) (94 page)

Reno’s face was twisted in despair. He looked different. His hair was half silver, half black. He was skinnier too but I think his face had changed the most.

I wasn’t used to seeing him so upset.

Though as much as I wanted to greet my buddy all I could do was stare. I didn’t even have the strength to hug him back when he took me into his arms and squeezed the life out of me.

I heard him start to sob and as I lost feeling in my legs he sunk down to the floor with me.

Reno was crying; he was crying so hard. I tried to look around, feeling dazed and confused.

A moment later the two masked ones appeared again, carrying what looked like my pants and several other articles of clothes.

“We got everything; let’s get the fuck out of here before Sid or Kincade realize what just happened.” The door slammed and the man who just spoke turned around. As the plane rose into the air he took his ski mask off.

It was Caligula, and beside him also removing his mask, was his boyfriend Nico.

“Nico, drive the plane.” Yet another familiar voice. This one I could only stare at, wondering just how he managed to sway Kessler’s son onto our side.

Elish appeared in the doorway of the cockpit and kneeled down in front of me, Reno sobbing and squeezing the life out of me.

“You’re safe. I am going to give you an injection to put you out of your pain.” Elish brought out a needle and took my severed arm. He didn’t even flinch when he saw the mess of flesh and tendons that had used to be where my hand was. He just put it down and picked up the arm that still had my hand attached. Reno though groaned. I could feel his face press against my neck and a sniff.

Elish stuck the needle into the crook of my arm. “Hold him up, Reno. He’s going to fade soon.”

Wait... where are we going? We need to find Killian... and the others.

I opened my mouth to speak but a burning took me. And a moment later, the darkness.
