He balled her hair tight in his fingers as she continued to suck him off in a steady rhythm, but he suddenly pulled away – forcing himself not to come too soon.
He held out his hand like a gentleman, which made her laugh, then he helped her to stand – not wasting any time before pulling her close and kissing her wildly again.
“You’re too fucking good at that,” he said. “Now it’s time for me to drive
you
out of your mind.”
He lowered his face to tongue her nipples again, and peeled down her panties as he sucked and licked. He slipped his fingers into her pussy once more and supported her weight, so she could totally let go. She wondered if perhaps she might orgasm from this alone, but he picked her up in his arms, making her gasp with delight, and placed her down on the couch.
“Please allow me to fuck you into paradise,” he said.
She gazed into his eyes and smiled, lying her head down on the armrest and feeling sexy. His body was incredible – now that she could see it from here. His chest was toned and his muscles were huge – they bulged from his arms and chest. He was completely naked, other than the condom, and Astrid couldn’t remember ever seeing a man in real life who was so utterly gorgeous.
He bent and ran his fingers up her thigh, encouraging her to open her legs, then he placed one knee on the couch and scooped her hips up in his commanding hands so they were pointing upwards. Astrid had never climaxed in the missionary position before – or in any position on her back – but she felt so aroused she hoped she would today.
Jake must’ve picked up on her apprehension, because he grinned and said, “Relax, babe, I’ll make sure this the best sex you’ve ever had.”
She chuckled as a wave of lust consumed her.
He gripped her ass in his hands as he positioned his glorious cock toward her, then he thrust his hips – feeding the tip into her pussy. She gasped at the euphoric tingling sensation. His cock was big, and he knew it, so he took his time and entered her slowly and gently – drawing out the pleasure and teasing her with each gentle thrust.
“You’re so tight,” he whispered, gazing into her eyes. “Perfect.”
Astrid closed her eyes as he started to thrust harder. She wanted to watch him in action, but the pleasure was too intense now. One final thrust and he entered completely, then he started to grind against her – positioning her pelvis so that her clit rubbed against his toned body.
He increased the speed and intensity, pounding them both hard and fast, and suddenly the orgasm caught, rising up and overwhelming her body like an explosion of pure bliss. She heard herself groaning hard – crying out, “Yes!” as he continued to thrust, then she lost all sense of reality – consumed completely by the feeling of absolute pleasure, where she floated for an eternity – wave after wave, flying high on the most delightful sensation. He tensed and came hard too, pulling her closer and grinding her harder.
Out of breath and feeling elated contentment radiate all over her body, she slowly drifted back to reality, grinning like crazy – and knowing that her world had changed forever. It was shinier somehow. Jake was perfect. Everything was perfect.
She opened her eyes and saw that he was gazing at her with kind eyes, still standing over her.
“I don’t think I’ll be forgetting that in a hurry,” she said, lying on her back and feeling drunk.
“Glad to hear it.” He withdrew, then lowered himself to cover her like a blanket of pure muscle. He kissed her tenderly on the lips. “What’s the most number of orgasms you’ve ever had in one night, sweetheart?”
She frowned. “One.”
He scoffed. “One? Well, in that case, we can definitely set a new record for you tonight. Just give me a while and we can go again.”
She laughed, unsure if he was serious. Usually, the guys she had sex with fell asleep straight after getting the pleasure
they
wanted.
She absentmindedly stroked his toned bicep, getting comfy in his arms. “That was amazing. It’s never been like that before.”
“How so?”
“It was so intense. Usually sex is more just comfort for me, with the possibility of an orgasm if I’m lucky. But that was… fucking awesome!”
He laughed and kissed her. “It was fucking awesome for me, too.”
She gazed inquisitively into his eyes, feeling close and bonded to him. There was something she was dying to ask him, and she felt now would be as good a time as any. “What are you resisting, Jake?”
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“I know there’s something… I can’t penetrate the steely wall around you, but I know there’s something on your mind. Something that jars with your ethics. I’m right, aren’t I?”
He ran his fingers through her hair. “You’re right there is. There’s something I need to take care of.”
She kissed him on the lips. “Good. Whatever demon it is that’s holding you’re back, you can overcome it. All right? You don’t have to tell me what it is. But just take care of it. You’ll feel better.”
He nodded. She was right. He decided he was going to pull out of the project – he’d tell Adam and Dylan first thing in the morning. He couldn’t keep spying on Astrid like this. He really liked her, and for reasons unexplained she liked him too. At least at the moment. Even if this went no further than a night of passion, he couldn’t continue this investigation. Not now they’d crossed this boundary.
“I’ll take care of it tomorrow,” he said. “Now come here and let me make love to you again.”
In the dark dank corridor, Astrid was trying to run, but she was glued to the floor. The walls were closing in – crushing her chest – and terror was sinking its teeth into her very core. Simon laughed maniacally over her, pushing her down to the hard cold floorboards. She writhed to get away from him. She couldn’t see his red hair or his freckly face, but she knew it was him. She could smell him.
“This time I’ll kill you, baby,” he sinisterly whispered.
He was tall and lanky, but wiry and strong. Right now he seemed to be made of metal and concrete. He drew back his boot to kick her in the face. She screamed, gasping for air. “Simon, no! I’ll do anything – please!”
“Too late – it’s time for you to die…” He loomed over her – teeth gnashing. His pale fingers splayed, moving steadily toward to her throat, ready to strangle her to the brink of consciousness – just as he had before, last time they’d argued.
The terror exploded in her mind and she sat up in bed, panting hard, desperate to get her breath back. Her heart thrashed in her ribcage and her chest tightened with panic.
The light went on and she whipped her head around, tensing up and expecting to see Simon. But it was Jake… Thank
god
…
Blessed relief washed over her, realizing she was safe in New York City. She gazed unfocused at the cozy room as the dread of the dream lingered, tainting reality. This room was small – there was only just enough room to cram a double bed and a closet in here – but it was her sanctuary in this huge city. She loved the hominess of the exposed wooden floorboards, the ornate fireplace, and the peach-colored walls. The high ceilings and bay window made it feel bigger than it was, and the soft uplighters gave it a warm glow.
Jake spoke with concern behind her. “Are you okay, sweetheart?”
She nodded curtly. “Just a bad dream.”
“You’re shaking.”
“I’m all right.”
He rubbed her on the back, which soothed her like a child. “Tell me about it.”
She bit back the tears. “I can’t.”
“Sure you can.” He leaned against the headboard and opened his arms. “Come here – tell me what happened.”
She shuffled back and snuggled against his comforting chest. “It was my ex. He was there. I was scared...”
His voice was sincere. “I won’t let him hurt you, Astrid. No matter what happens now, I’ll always be there to protect you. That’s a promise.”
“How can you be? This is no-strings…”
He was silent for a beat, then… “It might not be.”
“You told me you’re not the guy I’m looking for.”
“I’m not.”
“Well, there you go. And it’ll take
me
time before I can trust men again after what Simon did to me.”
Jake’s muscles tensed. “Tell me about what he did.”
A tear slipped down her cheek. “He was so possessive. He wouldn’t let me see my friends. He was manipulative – he would tell me no one else would want me, so I should stay with him. He thought he owned me. I wanted to leave him for so long, then two months ago, after he… well, I knew I couldn’t stay, and this job came up so I left in a hurry.”
“After he
what
?”
“He tried to… he put his hands around my throat and squeezed. I thought he was going to throttle me.”
The atmosphere in the room was rigid now. Astrid sensed Jake wasn’t taking this well. “He lives in your hometown?”
She sighed. “Yeah – so I’ll have to see him at some point when I visit my parents. But at the moment, he won’t take no for an answer. He’s always calling me, you know.”
“If I ever see him, I’ll fucking kill him.”
She sat up and wiped away her tear. “Then you’re no better than him.”
He studied her with his big brown eyes. “Astrid, I don’t know what kind of guy you think I am, but I would
never
hurt a woman. Never. My old man used to rough up my mom, and... It’s just something I couldn’t do.”
“Sorry, Jake – I know you’re nothing like Simon.”
He eased her back into his arms and held her close. They listened to the sounds of the city outside for a moment. Astrid had no idea what the time was, but this really was the city that never slept.
Jake broke the silence. “You’re still being haunted by what he did in more than just in your dreams, right?”
She rested her cheek on his pec, relishing the softness of his skin over the rock-hard muscle. “Yeah. Since he tried to strangle me…” she swallowed the tears prickling her throat… “I feel smothered and claustrophobic. That’s why I walk everywhere and stay away from the crowded streets – I get panicky in enclosed spaces so the subway’s out. Crowds are terrifying. It’s so stupid…”
“You’re okay in the car though?”
“Yeah, because I can get out of a car anytime. The panic comes when I feel there’s no escape, you know? A car can be pulled over. But I can’t ask the subway driver to let me off. It happens when I feel trapped.”
“What happens?”
“Like, this overwhelming feeling of immense terror, seemingly for no reason at all. It’s the
fear
of fear, not the actual situation. It sounds crazy when I say it out loud like that. But when it’s happening…”
“It must be scary for you.”
“It is. It’s destroying my self-confidence – imagine feeling afraid all the time of just regular things like walking down the street and being on the subway. It’s like
he’s
still tormenting me even though he doesn’t know where I am.”
“But it’s your
own
fear that’s the problem now, though? Not Simon.”
“Yeah…” She lifted her head and gazed at his kind face. “You seem to understand what I’m saying.”
“I’m trying to.”
“It’s so nice to be able to talk to you. It’s a relief to tell someone, because it’s the shame of it that keeps it alive – I know I seem like a confident businesswoman, but inside I’m dealing with the random assault of terror on
myself
– so I try and hide it, pretending it’s not happening. But that makes it worse. I haven’t really told anyone else. I trust you for some reason… I don’t know why.”
She smiled into his eyes, feeling her defenses fall away. It felt wonderful to be vulnerable with another person, rather than trying to be hard and in control all the time.
He caressed her face. “You’ve nothing to be ashamed of, Astrid.
He
should be ashamed of himself for doing this to you.”
“I’m just so glad he doesn’t know where I live. But sometimes I get the feeling I’m being followed – then when I turn around, there’s no one there. I think I’m going crazy!”
He kissed her on the head. “You’re not crazy. In fact, I think you’re one of the most amazing women I’ve ever met.”
She smiled shyly. “Thanks.”
“Guys like Simon don’t deserve to have a woman like you in their life. Guys who bully women are the lowest scum of the earth.”
“Thank you for saying that, Jake. But – I’ve thought about this a lot – and I guess Simon’s holding onto so much pain himself – he’s told me things about his own past that would make you understand why he behaves like that. I’m not saying it’s okay for him to treat me or anyone badly. But it helps
me
to move on if I can create some understanding. You see what I’m saying?”
“Yeah, I see what you’re saying – you’re nicer than I am.”
She laughed at his self-depreciation. “We’re all just acting out the traumas of our pasts, aren’t we?”
“Maybe. I guess we must
all
have these dark things from our past we’re protecting, huh?”
“You have a dark past?”
“Sweetheart, there are things about me you won’t like at all. Things to
really
be ashamed of.”
She opened her mouth to ask him to elaborate, but he kissed her on the lips.
“I’d love to see you lose control in
pleasure
now,” he said. “To counteract the bad dream.”
She grinned. “Again?”
“You don’t want to?”
“Oh yeah, I definitely do!”
“Well, come here then, beautiful…”
