The Artisan Soul (23 page)

Are you known by love?

Are you a voice of hope?

Are you living by faith?

Check material:

Take a positive attitude toward life.

Have sincere motives toward others.

Have the courage to risk and fail.

Embrace the future as an adventure.

Celebrate mystery.

Remember that people matter most.

Make life an act of worship.

Embrace limits:

Eliminate everything that makes you less than the best reflection of your humanity.

Entrust yourself to God, to work with

limited material to create a timeless work of art out of your life.

Keep your integrity bounded and your imagination boundless.

Live a principled life so that you may be most free to create a beautiful life.

Masterpiece: A New Humanity

The hard work of a life well lived

May the world I touch be more beautiful and better off for my being here.

May my life be a work of art, and may I always live as an artist at work.

May my life be a mosaic: a work of art made up of fragmented and broken pieces brought together by the Master Artisan, who creates in me a masterpiece most perfectly reflected when his light strikes through me.

May the world become as God alone can imagine and create.

Acknowledgments

S
o many people are involved whenever anything of value is created. I have the privilege of working with the best people in the world.

I want to thank the amazing team and tribe which is Mosaic. You have been such a huge part of not only this project but have lived out this creative manifesto. You are the creators of the future! You are the beginning of a new humanity where every person knows their intrinsic value and lives out their divine potential.

Thank you HarperOne. I want to especially express my gratitude to Roger Freet, who invited me to return to this beautiful world of words, books, and ideas.

Thank you Jan Miller, Shannon Marven, and Nicki Miser at Dupree Miller for their belief in me and my voice.

I want to especially thank Holly Quillen, Alisah Duran, and Meg Miller who run command central in Los Angeles!

Thank you, to all who allowed me to share their stories. You are my inspiration!

A special thanks to Hank Fortener who not only shot the back cover photo but also leads our team at Mosaic.

I must also acknowledge the creative direction of Aaron McManus who brought the cover-photo shoot—and so much more—to life.

Thank you Kim and Mariah for being there for me when I needed you most.

Most of all I want to thank the One who saw in me what no one else could see, and what I could never hope or believe would ever be true about me.

Thank you Jesus of Nazareth for seeing me and calling me out to follow You. I will never be the same.
