She cleared her throat
and gave Jackson big eyes, repeating her question.  “What did I miss?”

“The Prime Commander and
I came to an understanding.”

“Huh.”  Lena licked at
the taste of Jackson that clung to her lips.  She could have asked more, but
she had the feeling she was better off not knowing.

Something had Cordan
growling again, and she pulled her eyes away from Jackson’s smile without
realizing that was where her eyes strayed.  He chuckled and turned to the
console before him.  “I’ll let the others know we’re on the way.”

Lena moved past the captain’s
seat, heading for her own.  She didn’t make it past Cordan before she felt
herself yanked into his hard lap. His lips took hers with ferocious intent and
for a long time.  When he finally let her up for air, she could feel
consternation coming from Jackson down the line of their bond.  Cordan looked
him right in the eye with a satisfied gleam.  “By all means, Jackson, take us
home.”

A second later, she felt
the tension dissipate; finding the humor in the situation, Jackson snorted out
a laugh.

Sitting in the High
Commander’s lap with her other mate close enough to touch, she had the crazy
thought that she didn’t need to go anywhere to be home.  No more pretending.  For
the first time that she could remember, she had found a place she belonged, and
she didn’t need to go anywhere to find it but the arms of these two men.  She
was home.
