istorical Notes
:
As you can imagine, there is a lot of research required for each novel. In
Tenacious
, I took the liberty of altering a few things so that my characters would be present during events.
F
or example
:
--During the march in Washington, DC, Alice Paul and Lucy Burns did arrive in cars and help clear the way for some of the women marchers. However, it was for the women at the front of the parade.
--I know of speeches and events at Marble House in Newport in the summer of 1914, but Zylphia was there in 1913. Alva Vanderbilt Belmont was an ardent supporter of the suffrage movement, thus there most likely was some sort of function there in 1913.
--The Miner’s Union Hall was blown up in June 1914 in Butte, over 20 sticks of dynamite was used and wasn’t successfully destroyed until the middle of the night/ morning.
A
s you can see
, they are subtle changes, but they allow the McLeods and Sullivans to be involved in all of the important events of the times!
