I watch her ass sway and bounce to the beat of the music, my dick hardening and pressing tightly against the zipper of my jeans.
I can’t take my fucking eyes off her.
I’d noticed Ellen months ago, when she was one of the nurses at the hospital where my buddy Smokey had gone to die.
She was fucking gorgeous in scrubs, but seeing her long legs and tight ass in that little black skirt makes my heart skip a beat.
“Don’t even think about it, man.”
I look at Reaper and smirk.
“Think about what?”
He snorts, shaking his head.
“Charlie fuckin’ asked you to stay away from that bitch.
It’s one woman.
Pick a different one.”
I cast my eyes back to the dancefloor and watch as Ellen swivels her hips and laughs along with her friends.
Charlie had told me to stay away from her more than once, and so far I’d listened, but watching her dance, head thrown back with laughter, I’m not sure I can do that anymore.
For months I’ve had glimpses of her, and every time, I flirted and she laughed, but for the most part, I’ve kept my distance.
Not anymore.
Sorry, Charlie
.
“Come on, Reap.
Look at those other bitches.
Be a decent fuckin’ wingman, would ya.”
He raises his brows.
“I’m not anyone’s wingman.
I can find bitches all on my own.”
I shrug and throw my hands up.
“Your loss, brother.”
Leaving Reaper on his own, I weave my way through the throng of dancing bodies and approach the group of ladies to come up behind Ellen.
The women in her circle exchange glances of surprise but nobody says a word as I slip my hands onto her narrow waist and dance along behind her.
The minute my hands touch her body, she spins around, pinning me with an annoyed glare.
Once she realizes who it is, the glare fades and uncertainty takes over.
Raising my eyebrows, I give her my sexiest smile.
It never fails.
Smirking slightly, she shakes her head and leans forward, shouting over the music.
“What are you doing?”
I grab onto her hips once again, and drag her into me, pressing her body against mine.
Using the loud music as an excuse to lean into her, I shout back.
“Well I
was
dancing with you.”
Pulling back, she places her hands on my chest and pushes me away gently.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, Jase.”
What the fuck?
“Why not?”
Biting the inside of her lip, she looks into my eyes and shakes her head once more.
“It just isn’t.”
My gut sinks as she turns and walks off the dance floor without looking back.
I’m in shock.
This has never fucking happened before.
Not to me, anyways.
I look over at the three ladies that Ellen had been dancing with.
All three of them are still dancing but have their eyes on me.
One of them shakes her head, giving me a slight shrug.
Frowning, I turn and watch as Ellen gets closer to the washrooms.
That’s it?
It just isn’t
?
I don’t think so
.
Avoiding the swaying bodies, spilling drinks, and the grabby hands of one very drunk woman, I wind my way through the crowd once more and lean against the wall outside the ladies room.
I wait for almost five minutes before Ellen comes back out.
It’s quieter back here so I don’t have to shout.
“How do you know?”
She yelps in surprise and freezes, wide eyes on mine.
“What?”
I take a step forward.
“How do you know that it’s not a good idea?”
She stares at me a moment, like a deer caught in the headlights.
Then she recovers.
Rolling her eyes, she chuckles.
“It was just a dance, Jase.”
I take another step forward, closing in on her space in the narrow hallway.
“Exactly.
It was just a dance.
How can that be a bad idea?”
Pressing her back against the wall, her chuckle falling away as she nibbles on her lip, her eyes never leaving mine.
“Jase …” Her shoulders slump, and she lets out a heavy sigh.
“Look … you’re a nice guy, but …”
Placing my hand on the wall above her head, I lean forward and recapture her eyes with mine.
“It was just a dance, Elle.”
Standing up straighter, she gives me a challenging look.
“Really.”
Chuckling, I nod my head but whisper, “Fuck no.”
Her eyes widen, and she pushes off the wall, making me take a step back.
“That’s why.
I’m not that girl, Jase.
I don’t do one-night stands.
I’ve heard all about you, Jase Matthews”
“Ah, so you’ve been asking around about me.”
She narrows her eyes and shakes her head.
“No.
But I’ve heard enough to know a few things, and more than enough to know that I am most certainly not what you’re looking for.”
The smile falls from my face as annoyance seeps in.
“And what exactly do you think I’m looking for?”
She shakes her head.
“Not me.”
On that final note, she turns and walks away.
I watch in confusion as she fades back into the crowd.
What the fuck just happened?
I’ve never been blown off like that before.
Women love me.
I’m Jase Motherfucking Matthews.
I emerge from the hallway just as Ellen and her friends are walking out of the bar.
Just before she walks out, she turns and our eyes lock.
Even from the other side of the room, I can see her hesitation before she turns and leaves.
Oh yeah … she’s exactly what I’m looking for.
She just doesn’t know it yet.

About The Author
Geri has been an avid reader for as long as she can remember. She can usually be found curled up in a comfy chair, reading on her iPad both day and night. Geri is an incurable night owl, and it's not uncommon for her to still be awake reading at 4 am just because she can't put the book down!
Geri loves all genres of fiction, but her passion is anything romantic or terrifying; basically anything that can get her heart pumping. This passion has bled out onto her laptop, and became the Kings of Korruption.
Writing this series has knocked off the #1 thing on Geri's bucket list, and publishing it has been an absolute dream come true. She hopes you love the Kings as much as she does.
