I laughed. "You sound like my mom."

"I sound like

mom." Travis kissed me again.

It was sweet and full of promise.

y entire body became lighter, and the sun rose behind my closed eyes. When he broke the kiss, I squinted into the sunlight
. The dark clouds parted in the sky
and
in my heart.

I decided Travis was right. I could
choose to
live in the moment and enjoy the now, or
risk
miss
ing
out
on
my one chance to act like a normal teenager.

"So, where are we going to lunch? And

you're buying, right? Be
cause this is a date." I said

He smiled
, picked up my bag and put his arm around my shoulders. "There's this little Italian place a couple of blocks over. They have the best marinara sauce you've
ever
had."

"Great, because I'm starving."
