Drawstring Sacks

ANOTHER SIMPLE BUT INCREDIBLY USEFUL BAG STYLE
is the drawstring sack. Customize the sizes and drawstrings to make a wrist bag, a bag to hold notions, a lingerie storage bag, and more! For kids, you can modify the drawstring backpack size to fit a smaller frame. You can also make little travel bags to help organize your packing. Make a bunch and see how many uses they have!

Measure and Cut

1.
DECIDE YOUR SIZE
. A simple drawstring bag can serve many purposes: holding laundry, wine, shoes, marbles (sure, marbles!), or even your lunch. You can use fancier, heavier weight fabrics to make a sweet handbag.

2.
CUT YOUR FABRIC
. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, right sides together. On the wrong side of the fabric, draw a rectangle that is the desired size of your bag. Add 1" to the width for side seams, and 2½" to the length for the casing and bottom seam. Cut two pieces. If making a fabric drawstring, cut a strip 3" wide and the desired length (
see below
).
