Sanibel Sizzle - Vampire Werewolf Menage (27 page)

“That would pretty much
suck.” Blade quietly removed his new weapons, placing them on the bedside table they were apparently sharing.

“Make sure the guns are on safety,” Ciaran said.  “She’ll shoot me full of holes if she can.”

“Yeah?”
Blade cracked a grin, pulling his shirt overhead.  “My girl has her talents, and her brother taught her not to miss.” He kicked off his combat boots.  “What’s with the guns
, anyway
?   And don’t tell me silver bullets.
That’s been done to death, and Habalines
can spit out ammo no matter what it’s made of.” Ciaran closed the distance between them.   Blade had to raise his chin a
fraction,
and he was six and half feet.  That meant Ciaran had to be a
t
least two or three inches taller.  “You are one tall mother fucker.”

“So I’m told,” Ciaran said
sardonically
.  “The guns slow the latter generation Habalines, the mixed breeds, and some even die.  In truth, I don’t relish killing anyone of pack descent.
We have several Scottish
decent Habalines in our army, yet many of their siblings are still kept on
the Habaline compound.
  Still,
when they’re coming at you by the hundreds, you have to save your ass one way or another.”

“True.  At least, I now know you’re fighting for something worthwhile instead of blowing a meaningless
revenge-fueled
load all over the country
side. But hindsight, you
should have
been u
pfro
nt with our pack and Jayce, giving
them a heads up, especially before you screwed around and took Rebecca.

You were one of us for years.”

“I don’t want to speak of Jayce Jordan.”

“Sure you don’t.
Bitterness keeps your tank full, and h
elp would be too easy of an out for you.”

“Watch yourself.”

“No, I won’t.” Blade didn’t back down. “We have an eternity together if you d
on’t finally hit the dirt during the next battle
.  A good fraction of the
time
we share
is gonna be hot and heavy between the sheets
.”  Blade motioned to a pile on the floor co
ntaining Ciaran’s dirty clothes
and said, “A
nd apparently in the stables
if my nose isn’t deceiving me
.  I’ll respect yo
u in front of the others, since you are the
Alpha.
However,
between us,”
he said, pointing a long finger at Ciaran’s chest
, “we’re on the same footing.  We’ll respect each
other,
one and the
same,
or we won’t work. ”

Ciaran inclined his head
.  “You’ve a strong beast, youngling.  Only the strong I claim as mine.”  He extended his palm and Blade took it.

“Oh yeah?
My beast is killer, but you haven’t seen anything like my
youthful
stamina.” Blade took another look at Rebecca, drinking her in and selfishly wanting to wake her.
I want to feel you, Becca.
  With a side
long glance
at Ciaran, Blade asked, “Why is your lip torn?”

“Our female ripped
out my piercing when she bit me,” he boasted. Crossing massive arms over his chest, his Alpha beast flashed
with pride
.
“It’s taking longer to heal since the piercing had silver in it.”

“She fights nasty, huh?”  Blade adjusted his aching hard on.

“Yes,” Ciaran said, licking his wound, “when she wants to come.”

“Oh…I think I need her to fight with me a
little
bit
then.”
Blade twisted his torso around, showing Ciaran the Druid tattoos Gage had spelled upon his be
ast.  “You think you could
get rid of
these
for me?”

“Decent ink, it is.” He trailed a palm over Blade’s biceps, emitting the static power only an Alpha contained.  “Gage’s blood or is it yours?”

“Mine,” Blade said, not hiding his s
urprise.  “You know Gage’s work
?”

Ciaran eva
ded the question, but inquired
, “Tell me about your meeting with Rebecca’s brother.

“I spoke with Jayce and Gage
, though
Bre
n took off long before I showed up.  Our queen was snatched
by bloodsuckers and Bren’s
enraged, can’t say that I blame him.  Gage is takin
g shifts with Jayce’s Beta.  And
with that kind of heavy shi
t going down, it’s in me to step up and help
.”

“Vampires, you say?”

“They swear that it’s Maestru,” Blade answered.
He’d never met him, but knew he held an alliance with Jayce that kept the two species from fighting.  One Maestru and Jayce
kept
for years.  They were almost friends.
As stunned as
everyone else, Blade wondered what would d
rive Maestru to risk his Coven
members’
ultimate safety
.

Ciaran stared at him for a long moment before he said, “Then we can help your
former
pack and still fight our last battle.”

“How so?”

“Maestru is coming here,

Ciaran pointed out.

“Why?”

It would seem f
or the same reason I did
.” Ciaran didn’t blink. “The Coven Master
is avenging his females and taking any that
he can recover back to Captiva
Island
.”

He hadn’t realized how far out the Habalines’ greedy arms had stretched.

Wouldn’t it
be easier if the vampires joined
with us before they attacked?
We would
all roll in together kicking ass as one unit.”
Blade rubbed the tension from his neck, adding, “
Afa
nas wouldn’t fill me in on much
.”  He
raised a
questioning
brow
, lowering into
a high back chair near the window.

“I’m certain I will be hearing from the vampires shortly.”
Ciaran followed, lifting Blade’s wrist and elongating his canines. He hovered over Blade’s heavy vein
that lined his wrist to his elbow and said,
“As far as my Beta goes, he
needs to adjust.  You’ve gone from Shaman to a prisoner to co-mate of his Alpha in essentially a day.  Plus,” he tightened his
hands around Blade’s arm and admitted
, “
he
wants Rebecca desperately.”  He bit down.

Blade felt his skin pop before the suction lulled him.  “No endorphins, man.  I’m horny enough fo
r
all three of us.” Two more pulls
had Blade’
s dick throbbing.
Ciaran withdrew and licked the wounds closed.   Then, he wrapped his palms around th
e ink, drawing with a
burning
force
until Blade thought he would bite back.

After several long minutes, h
is beast was rising.

Three breaths in, one long push out.

“Just as I thought,” Ciaran murmured,
stepping back from Blade’s werewolf
with a strange smile plastered on his face.  “
You are tough
enough to be my co-mate.” He wiped his dripping canine’s on the back of his hand. “
You don’t taste so bad, either.
In time, we’ll perfect your skills.”

Blade felt right in his skin, better than he’d ever had with the beast.  “I’m more in control.”

“Yes,” Ciaran looked smug.  “My experience benefits you.  I won’t allow the queen to be in inferior security
when I have to be away
from her.  I accelerated your control and broadened your abilities, years of training you’ve skipped by my hand.
In other words, I shed some of my powers and gave them to you.

Blade didn’t know what to say to that.
Even so,
t
he long stretch of silence was a necessary comfort
as his beast settled to the background again.
  Finally, he
tested
, “You’re still in agreement with not pulling the Alpha shit on me in private, with our girl even.”

You are a male of honor,” he
answered, and Blade could hear the truth in his words.  Ciaran relaxed on the corner of the bed
and hung his arms on his knees.
With an unwavering stare, he
spoke from the heart.
“You risked your life to protect my queen when I wanted to take her life from her.  You hindered your wolf with spells to find a safe way of escape for her…a way to escape the monster who is
me
.  I am indebted to you.  A pup that has seen few years is my better in most every way, and I’m a male who has seen a thousand.  And what you’re not best at now, I will teach you from this day forward.
So no, I won’t pull any Alpha
shit
on you.

“Okay,” Blade said
as
easily
as he could
.  “We’
ll work this.  T
ry to stay good
about it and we’ll learn one another.  We are family now
.
  But eventually, when
th
is war dies
down, we take Rebecca
home to
her
extended
family.  At the least, she has to
visit them
regularly,
and I want that with mine.

“Agreed,” the Alpha said with a broken smile.

Blade knew the Alpha had no close family t
o speak of, but distant lunatic cousins
who
used him for
his
power.
“I’m the only one you’ve ever willed power to?”

“Yes.”

“Thank you.”

“You are most welcome.”

A new subject was necessary
since they were bordering a chick-chat

“So you have the Habaline
leaders locked away?

Ciaran moved with a ripple of power.  “You know
from this far away
?”

“I can smell them
better
now that you’ve worked on me.
  It’s a clear distinction I didn’t otherwise have.
” Blade unzipped his jeans, releasing tension around his cock. “
They reek.” He
furrowed
his nose. “They’re housed in a neighboring building
, right?

Yes,
they are here
.  A
nd
to our
ancients
,
the pure bloods hold an
unmistakable stench
at quite a distance
.
” Ciaran paused.
“Some have ways of masking their scent, but smelling some shifters is better than scenting none of them.
That’s g
ood.
You can
smell
others
if they get too close to her.” He leaned hi
s head toward their female
and muttered,

When
I’m fighting.”

“Alphas
don’t
normally
fight once they find their queen,”
was
the grim response, “even I know that.”

Ciaran slumped.  “
I started this war,
and I will finish it.
I have to see this through. The females deserve no less.

“I know about the rai
d that’s
strategy is to flush out the rest of their guard
and expose their breeding compound
.  That particular gamble is
a walking, talking nightmare.
” He gave Ciaran a knowing look.

You’ll cut off the Alpha line if you die, another pack will overtake this one,”
Blade pointed out.

If that happens, let’s hope these Habalines don’t take over
again
with
their cluster fuck of shithead mercenaries.
Since they’ll keep moving on, overpowering each continent and obliterating our species.
  Their m
ixed breeds are on Captiva, you know.
  They’re spreading out.
