Ryker (Kings of Korruption MC Book 1) (29 page)

Mouse leans around Reaper and looks at Jase, eyes wide and stage whispers, “I didn’t even know the dude could fuckin’ talk!”

Everyone around me start laughing.

I’m just about to lay into them when I hear Laynie yelp in pain.

“Laynie?

You ok?”

“Um.

Yeah?”

She hiccups and then slurs out, “I’ll be fine.”

“You don’t sound fine.”

She’d sounded like she was hurt.

“I just stepped on glass or something.

I’ll be fine.”

She pauses.

“Anyways, I won’t keep you.

I just wanted to invite you for dinner tomorrow.

Or this week.

Or whenever.”

Dinner?

Nobody’d ever invited me to dinner before – especially not a gorgeous blonde with a smart mouth.

I can’t think about that right now.

If she’s hurt, I need to know.

“You bleedin’?”

“What?”

“Your foot.

You bleedin’?”

“Uh.

Yeah.

I think so.”

There’s another pause.

“Ahh!

Yep.

Definitely bleeding.”

Her voice is tight and laced with pain.

“Be there in ten.”

I turn and head towards the exit of the clubhouse.

I can hear everyone murmuring as I leave, but I ignore each and every one of those nosey fuckers, and move toward my bike.

“No!

Travis, I’m fine.

I’ll just – “

“I said I’ll be there in ten.

Sit your ass down and don’t move.”

“Travis!

Don’t you dare talk to me li – “

“Can’t talk to you and drive my bike, babe.”

“Travis – “

“Say what you gotta say in ten minutes.

Sit tight.”

With that, I hit the end button.

All I can think of is her being hurt, bleeding all over the place, and not able to clean it up herself.

I don’t know why I even care, but I do.

Ever since I first saw her, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about her.

And then I met her.

Fuck me.

Her smart mouth makes me hard.

My phone rings again.

I don’t even bother checking.

I know it’s Laynie.

She’s pissed I hung up on her.

I can’t fight the grin that takes over my face as I roar out of the parking lot on my bike.

So many people had a hand in helping me with this project and I never could have done it without them.

To Mike
– Thank you for putting up with me ignoring you while I had my head wrapped up in this story.

And for taking care of the kids, making supper, cleaning the house and just being generally supportive throughout all of this.

This book is finally done but it’s time to do it all over again!

To Robin from Wicked By Design
– Thank you for an amazing cover.

You were so easy to work with and you designed a kickass MC logo!

I don’t know if anyone would have even looked at this book if it weren’t for your sexy as hell design!

I can’t wait to see what you come up with for the rest of the books in this series!

To Christina

You came along when I was almost done writing Ryker, but your help as my PA has been crucial in spreading the word on my debut novel.

As a newbie in the indie world, I would have been lost without you!

Looking forward to releasing many more with your help!

To Jacqueline M Sinclair

To all of my beta readers
– Each of you provided helpful comments and suggestions that, to a new author, helped keep me headed in the right direction.

I appreciate you taking the time to look at all the different rough versions of my story and still manage to read them more than once.

To all of the bloggers that shared my posts and made posts of their own
– You’re support has been overwhelming. An indie author would never make it in this world without people like you holding them up and helping them along the way.

To my readers
– Thank you for taking a chance on me and reading my debut novel.

Without you, my dream would never come true.

It has been an incredible journey and I hope you will continue to follow me and watch me grow!

About The Author

Geri has been an avid reader for as long as she can remember. She can usually be found curled up in a comfy chair, reading on her iPad both day and night. Geri is an incurable night owl, and it's not uncommon for her to still be awake reading at 4 am just because she can't put the book down!

Geri loves all genres of fiction, but her passion is anything romantic or terrifying; basically anything that can get her heart pumping. This passion has bled out onto her laptop, and became the Kings of Korruption.

Writing this first book in the series knocked off the #1 thing on Geri's bucket list, and publishing it has been an absolute dream come true. She hopes you love the Kings as much as she does.
