Running Free (19 page)

“We went to the doctor on Friday to find out the sex and thought it would be neat for you all to find out with us,” I tell them with a grin.

Gunnar rewards me with a sweet grin and it melts my heart. He’s so great with Suzie and I know he’ll be the best damn father with this kid too. We all wait with anticipation as he tugs the sealed envelope from his breast pocket. Once he rips it open and pulls out the ultrasound pictures, his smile falls.

My heart patters and for a moment I worry that something’s wrong with our baby. The only thread that keeps my sanity from unraveling is the fact that the doctor would have told us. Another fear knifes its way through me. What if the baby shows up as a puppy on the ultrasound? The doctor would have been more panicked, I would think. Not smiling like a goofy motherfucker like he was when he handed Gun the envelope.

“Jesus, Gun. Out with it already,” I huff and stand. I’m seconds away from crawling over the table and yanking the images from his hand.

His lips quirk up into a smug grin and winks at me. “Apparently,” he says with a chuckle as he flips the pictures around to where I can see them, “I have super sperm.”

I scrunch my brows together in confusion and yank the images out of his hand. In pink ink, the doctor has written: Baby Girl - 1.

We’re having a girl.

We’re having a baby girl!

Eager to see more pictures of her, I flip to the next one and am confused. Baby Girl - 2. I sense that Luca has stood beside me and he looks at the pictures with me. The next picture says Baby Girl - 3.

“I don’t understand… ” I trail off.

The last picture is written in blue. Baby Boy - 4.

“I knew it,” Luca says with a chuckle. “I bet Winston four hundred bucks that you were having quadruplets. Call it my Spidey sense.”

My eyes widen at his words. Quadruplets?

“You’re having a litter.” Luca’s laugh sets me off.

“GUNNAR REYNOLDS MASON! You were ‘
pretty much sterile
!’” I screech. “Well, now you’re going to be really fucking sterile because I’m going to castrate your ass!”

Everyone’s laughing and Gun wisely bolts from the table, down the hallway. My belly seemed really damn big for some reason. And here this whole time I thought it was because I was carrying Gun’s big baby. But no. I’m carrying four of his big babies. Four!

I waddle after him, one hand delicately holding pictures of my babies, and the other in a fist — a fist that’s going to hurt him badly. Four babies. How in the hell will we be able to care for five children counting Suzie?

I’m on a hunt — hell bent on putting his head on a platter when his warm, strong arm encircles me and drags me into the laundry room. His mouth is on mine before he can even close the door and I soon forget what it was I was even mad about. My new daintier collar necklace, boasting the name
Hádanka
on a metal jigsaw puzzle piece instead of
bitch
, jingles when his hand slides up my neck. I think I may love the collar necklace he bought me for Christmas more than my wedding ring.

“Oh, God,” he breathes into my mouth as his hands roam my now needy body. “I’m so fucking happy.”

Truth is, so am I. Really damn happy.

“I’m scared,” I whimper when he pinches my nipple through my dress. “What if we suck as parents to all those kids?”

He kisses me hard and drags my dress up to my hips before lifting me on top of the washing machine. The cold metal chills me through my panties and I shiver.

“Baby, you’re already an amazing mother to Suzie and Cutie Pie. I have no doubts you’ll do a great job with a few more.”

I tear away from his kiss and raise a dark brow at him. “Cutie Pie is
not
my child.”

We both laugh because my lie is just that on my lips. I love that damn dog too much.

“We’ll figure it out, baby,” he promises, his chocolate-colored eyes twinkling with joy. “Together. Now, let me fuck you while you pretend to be yelling at me. I’ve been dying to put my cock in that sweet pussy since we got here. I’ll never get enough of you, Frankie.”

Like always, I melt in his arms and soon he’s pushed my panties aside, entering me with force.

“Shit! Fuck you, Gunnar Mason,” I yell for the benefit of my family down the hall.

He growls and thrusts into me, kissing my neck like I might disappear. “You love me, Mrs. Mason. Admit it.”

I do love him. So damn much.

“Yes,” I murmur, threading my fingers into his hair. “I love you. You pushed your way into my life and
made
me love you. I’ll always be thankful for that.”

We’ve long since lost ourselves to each other and no longer care about putting up pretenses about what we’re really doing in the laundry room. Besides, Luca’s dumb ass probably already fucking “sensed” it and tattled.

“You were
the
missing piece, hádanka.”

I gasp at his words and my body surges with an epic climax. My sex, now swollen with pregnancy, clenches around him and he soon releases inside of me.

“Say it again,” I murmur and press a soft kiss on his lips.

His eyes light up and he flashes me a sexy crooked grin. “You’re
my
missing piece, hádanka. My other half. My whole heart. And soon we’re about to add four more pieces to this puzzle of our life. While it may seem complicated to others,” he says in a sweet tone, “it’s beautiful to me.”

About Author K Webster

I’m a thirty-four-year-old self-proclaimed book nerd. Married to my husband for twelve years, we enjoy spending time with our two lovely children. Writing is a newly acquired fun hobby for me that has now turned into a livelihood over the past year. In the past, I’ve enjoyed the role as a reader. However, I have learned I absolutely love taking on the creative role as the writer. Something about determining how the story will play out intrigues me to no end.

This writing experience has been a blast and I’ve met some really fabulous people along the way. I hope my readers enjoy reading my stories as much as I do writing them. I look forward to connecting with you all!
