Olga took another sip of her drink. “They
laughed in my face as they informed me that it didn’t matter what I offered them because they were planning to kill me anyway. Before those evil people knew what was going on the Dubois’ had gotten both Sasha and me out of there. However Sasha’s father followed trying to stop us he attempted to stab her but I got in front of her. When Nikki’s mother saw what was about to happen she pushed us both out of the way and he stabbed her instead.”

Tears were flowing like a river down Olga’s face nevertheless she continued telling her story.  “
She was always an amazing woman although she was losing a great deal of blood she was able to stand long enough to snap his neck with her own hands. Even before his dead body could hit the ground Nikki’s father was lifting his wife in his arms as he led us out of there to a car that they had waiting for us. As we sped away there was a lot of gunfire it wasn’t until we got back to the mansion that I realized that he’d been shot.”

Yuri handed her a tissue so that she could wipe her face. Nikki refuse to let her tears fall until she’d heard everything she waited patiently for Olga to finish her story.

“A few hours later both of Nikki’s parents died but not before I promised to take care of Nicolette. I vowed to them that I would keep her safe and make certain that she wanted for nothing. They also left a letter for me to give to you but only after you asked to know the entire story now that you know I can give you this letter.” Olga said as she handed Yuri an envelope to give to Nikki.

Nikki took the envelope and sighed as she held tit against her chest for a moment.

“Would you like some privacy dear?” Olga asked in a concerned tone.

Nikki shook her head. “No please stay.” She said as she tore open the envelope and pulled the letter out. She quietly read it which was written in English.

Our dearest Nicolette,

By the time you read this letter you will probably be a grown woman with a family of your own. We’re sure that Olga has been a wonderful friend to you and if you’re reading this it means that you finally know what
really happened to us. Please don’t blame anyone but us for what happened. We died doing what we believe in, helping others.

We are hoping that you
will follow in our footsteps when it comes to helping others however please don’t put your life in jeopardy. We want you to be safe always, live a long and happy life raising a beautiful family.

Our one regret is that we will never see you have a family of your own. We also hope that
by now you think of Olga as family as we did for many years. There is only a small circle of people that can be truly trusted and she is one of them.

You can trust her with anything as we have trusted her with the most important thing that we have ever produced and that’s you our darling daughter. Olga will be there for you as long as there is breath in her body. She and Yuri will be your support system as long as you need them. Yuri holds the key to the success of our company he has all the information that you need to continue with what we started.

You our darling daughter are the reason that we built a company such as the one we are leaving to you. There are so many things about this company that you may not understand but the people surround
ing you are there to help.

Our goal has always been to do good things, to protect others and keep
those safe that can’t do it on their own. And we won’t lie to you at times it has required doing things that aren’t exactly legal. But to protect the innocent we did whatever was necessary to accomplish that task.

Nicolette, y
our legacy is greater than you know, you now have more money and power than you could ever imagine. We believe in you and know that you’ll become the strong, intelligent, and independent woman we have taught you to be.

And fina
lly our dearest Nicolette please don’t be afraid to open your heart to love. Love is a gift that should be shared and spread far and wide. So when you find that special someone that you fall in love with grab hold with both hands and never let go.

Use everything that we’ve taught you and built for you to p
rotect your family and loved ones as we’ve tried so hard to do. We will always watch over you so be happy. And remember that we love you.

Give Olga
a big hug from us and tell her thank you for everything, also please tell that we love her for being the best friend ever.

P.S. If at some point you find yourself in extreme danger, Yuri has in his possession an emergency packet that is to be used only in the event to save your life. It will allow you to disappear without a trace they’re only two people in the world that will know how to contact you. However, leaving behind the people that you love could be the hardest thing you’ll ever have to do.

Nikki stood from where she’d been sitting and walked over to stand in front of Olga reaching down she took the woman by the hands and pulled her to her feet. When Olga was standing Nikki put both of her arms around her and hugged her tightly as she finally let the tears fall freely.

“Thank you Olga you meant so much to my parents and they trusted you to take care of me and you have.” Nikki said sincerely.

“It was my pleasure dear it was the least I could
do after everything your parent’s did for me. Those two saved my life on many occasions as well as the life of my husband a few times.” Olga said with a smile.

“Mother just how long did
you know Nikki’s parents?” Dmitry asked curiously.

“I met the two of them when I was nineteen on my first trip to Paris they were on their first date
. I was walking alone in the park and I was attacked by some street thugs that were trying to rob me. That was the first time that her parents saved me, they treated my injuries and we became friends from that day on.” Olga said with a smile as she remembered that day so long ago.

“Wow but why do
n’t I ever remember meeting them?” Dmitry asked.

“Well
you did but you were just a baby, who do you think named you, it was Nikki’s mother.” Olga said.

“No way, did she really?” Nikki asked.

“Yes your mother told Dmitry’s father that our son would grow up to be strong and brilliant and his father was sold. He loved the Dubois almost as much as I did but because of my husband’s family we thought that it best not to let everyone know of our friendship. I’m sure you know what I mean he didn’t care about their skin color however not all of his family felt that way. It was a different time back then.” Olga said sadly before adding “Although we did share many vacations together away from prying eyes.”

“Nicolette your parents were wonderful people they were always helping others I was honored when they asked me to take
care of the legal work for their company. I have documents that belong to you. And you have no idea how many powerful people that owe your parents not just money and favors but they’re very lives. Now that you know everything I can give you what’s rightfully yours, which include a very large sum of money.” Yuri said with smile.

“So you knew them as well?
And wait did you say large sum of money? You mean it’s larger than the first sum I received after their death?” Nikki asked.

“Of cours
e I knew your parents they saved my bacon on quite a few occasions as well. And the answer to your second and third questions are yes and pardon my language but oh hell yeah. As per your parents request the money has been placed in varies untraceable on-shore and off-shore accounts you also own a number of lucrative investments.” Yuri said with a grin.

“Well it’s amazing the things you think that you know when you really don’t
because it sounds like I’m rich as hell and I didn’t even know it.” Nikki said with a smile.

Over the next few months which went by in a flash Nikki began to set in motion her plans to protect the people around her. The day after reading the letter that was left to her by her parents Nikki went to work fulfilling her goals. She focused on training both Brody and Sasha to her standards and she was confident that they could protect the boys if and when it was ever necessary.

Nikki had taught both Sasha and Brody defensive driving just in case that God forbid they were ever in a car chase for their lives. Dmitry decided that he was going to challenge Nikki to a race on the track that they’d rented for training.

“I tell you what if I win then you agree to marry me.” Dmitry said.

Nikki laughed. “You won’t win C
héri there’s no way that you can out drive me.”

“Fine then you should have a problem accepting my challenge.” Dmitry demanded.

“Alright but don’t say that I didn’t warn you Chéri.” She teased as she climbed into one of the cars they’d been using to train with. Dmitry climbed into the other one and off they went Nikki was half way around the track before she allowed Dmitry to get closer giving him false hope. However just as he was attempted to pull ahead she shifted gears and left him in the dust. The car chase lasted all of ten minutes but it had seemed like an eternity to Dmitry as he came in a good ways behind her.

Nikki
got out of the car laughing uncontrollably. “I did try to warn you Chéri, now don’t be mad unless you want me to sleep in my own room tonight.”

“Who’s mad you can make it up to me after dinner.” Dmitry teased with a seductive smile.

“I think that I can do that.” She said as she kissed him softly on the lips.

Nikki had also taken the time to teach Mikhail, Valerik and Brody’s son Viktor a few self-defensive moves just in case. She’d upgraded the security protocols at the estate as well as at the office. Nikki had retrained the security team and she’d hired a few new men that she’d handpicked.

The
boys were behaving much better now and getting along quite well with Viktor they were like the three amigos, always together. Nikki spent as much time with all three boys as she could. She made sure that she always there to say good-night and if she couldn’t be there she made sure that they received a call from her.

Nikki was working with Olga and Yuri to create a security and technology division with all the new tech that was being developed they thought it was good idea to get in on that market.
Her nights were spent in Dmitry’s bed and she was enjoying every single one of them. She knew that he thought that she hadn’t noticed the fact that little by little he was moving her things to his room.

Most of Nikki’s clothes were now in his closet her toiletries were all on his bathroom counter. To be honest there wasn’t very much still left in her room just her suitcases and a couple pairs of jeans and a few t-shirts. She didn’t even know why she bothered to go to her suite because she always ended up back in his
room to find her missing items. Of course he’d been trying to talk her into marrying him for weeks now. And she was so close to giving in however she didn’t want to make it too easy for him.

Dmitry was tired of Nikki turning him down every time he asked her to marry him, but tonight he’d devised a plan that he hoped wouldn’t get him hurt. Unfortunately that was a definite possibility if he wasn’t careful because although he was pretty sure that she was in love with him
he also knew that she was fiercely independent.

She was not the kind of woman that welcomed ultimatums, so he was fairly certain that she was going to be ready to knock his head off tonight.

Dmitry waited in bed for her to finish her shower and join him, he prayed like hell that this would work because he wanted her to be his wife and the boys wanted her to be their mother. Even Olga and Yuri were rooting for him to marry Nikki so everyone was for their marriage except her.

Nikki slipped into bed beside Dmitry and smiled. “C
héri, why does it seem that every time I go back to my room there’s less and less of my things there? You keep slowly moving my belongings to your room.”

“Well since you brought it up I was going to talk to you about that. There is no point in your keeping your things in the other room because you’re always here anyway. And I know you keep turning me down every time I propose to you but I’m hoping that tonight will be different.” Dmitry said waiting for her to inquire as to why tonight was going to be different.

“Alright and just why do you think that tonight will be any different from all the other times that you’ve asked me to marry you?” She asked with a feeling that she wasn’t going to like the answer.

Nikki knew Dmitry well enough to know that he was up to something
because he would only accept the answer no for so long before he did something about.

Dmitry reached over to the night stand and picked up a folder then he handed it to her. Nikki opened the folder to take a look at the contents inside. There were still pictures from security footage on the day that she taken him hostage to show that his team was incompetent. The picture made it seem that she was a criminal or a crazy woman.
