Rosalie's Player (9 page)

Her eyes fluttered when he picked her up and carried her to the bed. She hooked her arms around his neck, kissing his jaw as they went. She let her feet dangle until her shoes hit the floor before he laid her down. Wrenching his shirt over his head, he kicked off his shoes. He smiled at her as he peeled off his socks. A cute, sexy, ‘we’re gonna have sex’ smile.

“I’m feeling a little overdressed.”

“I could help you with that.” She got up on her knees and undid his belt. “You’re attentive.” She popped the button on his jeans and lowered the zipper. “You leave no detail unattended.”

“Did you think I would?” He pushed her onto the bed. “I’m nowhere near finished with you.” He shoved his hand in his pocket and yanked out his wallet. He tossed it on the nightstand before removing his pants and boxers.

She lost her breath when he revealed his magnificent form. As the moonlight flooded in from the skylight, she spied his tattoo. The one she’d been thinking about for weeks and wondering just how far it went. The dark ink started at his shoulder, sprawled down the left side of his chest, to his abs and over his hip, stopping at his upper thigh.

She got up on her knees again because she had to touch him. “This is incredible.” She outlined her fingers over the tattoo, taking the same path as the elaborate artwork, lower and lower. He closed his eyes when she got to his hip, tracing the ink closer to his erection. Her thumb skimmed his shaft on her way to his thigh. “I’ve been thinking about this tattoo. I had no idea it was this elaborate.”

“I like when you touch me.” His breaths were labored as he spoke. “I want your hands all over me.”

“Just my hands?” She leaned forward and kissed his shoulder, covering as much of the ink as she could. When she got to his abs, he sat on the bed, laying flat so she could have access to his entire body. “I thought you might like my mouth on you.” She sank lower, licking below his bellybutton, kissing and nibbling at his firm stomach.

“Hell,” he moaned, low and feral, when she took his erection in her hand, flattening her tongue over the tip, giving it a long, slow lick.

She’d never been a huge fan of oral, but the rules didn’t seem to apply to Holt. She wanted it all with him, so she took him into her mouth, bobbing her head until she managed to get most of him inside. When he hit the back of her throat she realized just how big he was.

Holy crap.
She wanted it all.

Tangling his fingers in her hair, he moved her head back and forth, moaning as he tightened his hold on her.

“Baby, we have to...you need to...” He stretched out and fumbled for his wallet. “I need to put this on now.”

She looked up at him and smiled. “Let me.” She held out her hand. “I want to do it.”

“You’ve got to be the sexiest woman I’ve ever seen.” When he handed her the condom, his hand brushed hers, inducing a surge of adrenaline within her. Her heartbeat sped up as she took the packet from him.

We’re going to have sex!

“Thank you.” She tore it open with her teeth, taking her time to fully sheath him in the thin latex, making sure it was securely in place.

“Miss Yale, where did you learn to do that so expertly?”

Was that amusement in his voice or utter shock? “I said I didn’t like casual sex, not that I didn’t have sex.” She straddled his hips. “I happen to like it very much.” What she meant to say was she was going to like sex with him, especially if those first two orgasms were any indication of what was to come.

“You’re full of surprises, aren’t you?”

“You have no idea.” She lifted her hips, took the base of his shaft in her hand and lowered herself onto him, inch by slow inch, indulging in the way his hard cock pushed inside her, turning her on and making her want to savor every second.

“Oh, fuck. You’re gonna ride me.”

“Yeah, cowboy, I am.” She shifted her hips, taking him deep. She wasn’t sure where this bold attitude came from, but he made her feel confident with her sensuality. “Unless you had other ideas.”

“I have many ideas, but we’ll explore them later.”

He held onto her hips, moving her, setting a relentless pace as she tried to keep up. Her breaths came out faster, harder as her skin glistened with moisture. He’d thrown her into overdrive too many times tonight. Her body screamed for another release.

Without breaking their rhythm, he sat up, hooking her legs around his waist. “You were too far away from me.”

“This is much better.” She draped her arms around his neck as he kissed her lips, moving his hands up her stomach and to her breasts, taking them in his hands.

“I can’t get enough of you.”

With each of his upward thrusts, she met him with a forceful downward jolt. The harder he pumped, the more aroused she became. The heat in her belly spread lower, tingling between her thighs until she couldn’t hold off any longer. Three times! This man was an animal.

“Holt...”

“Sweetheart,” he grunted just before he stilled his actions. “Hell.”

He pushed into her a few more times before encasing her in his strong hold and climaxing hard. Holding her tight until he was finished with his pleasure, he released a steady breath. The room was quiet for a moment or two as they held one another, caressing, cuddling, and calming down. With her legs still locked around his hips, she let out a long, satisfied sigh.

“Feeling good?” He kissed her neck as he rubbed her back, making her feel wanted and relaxed. She wouldn’t have pegged him to be so attentive after doing the deed. She thought he’d be a done-and-run type of guy.

“Really good.”

“Me too.”

She stayed as close to him as she could, not wanting this time to end.

“Let’s talk about you and all of that experience.” He leaned back and grinned at her. “You had me fooled.”

“I wouldn’t say all of
that
experience.” She kissed his jaw, making her way to his ear. It wasn’t as if she was doing every guy on campus. “Let’s just say you inspired me.”

“I was inspired myself, but you were something else.”

“See, I’m not just about glass slippers and fairy godmothers. There’s more to me.”

“I never doubted that.” He gently moved her from his lap, kissing the tip of her nose. “I need to take care of this.” He motioned between his legs. “Don’t go anywhere.”

“I wouldn’t dream of it.” While he went to the bathroom, she propped herself on the pillows, pulling the sheet over her hips.

She laid back, staring up at the skylight, focusing on the full moon as she thought about how being with him trumped any romantic fantasy she’d ever had. She’d give up all the frivolous gestures she thought were what made up a relationship if he could make her feel like that every night. Of course, she wasn’t ready to tell him that.

“What’s that big, devious smile for?” He crawled back into bed and rested his head in her lap. “Are you plotting?”

“I was just thinking about all those women who didn’t get a chance to come back for seconds.” She ran her fingers through his hair as she looked down at him. The room was dimly lit, but she could make out his perfect features. She moved her hand down his cheek and to his lips. “What a pity.”

“You’re beautiful.” He reached up and softly touched her face. “I’m sorry I got so possessive in the bar. I don’t know what came over me. That was completely out of character.”

“You were jealous.”

“An emotion I’m not familiar with in the least.” He sat up and faced her. “I don’t do jealous. There’s never been a reason to.”

“You don’t go back for seconds either.” She traced her finger over an embroidered flower in the comforter, trying to avoid eye contact with him, because this conversation had the potential to go in a direction she wasn’t sure she wanted. “What now?” she mumbled, because it was best to get the unpleasantness over with.

“What do you mean?” He tilted her chin so she had to look into his curious eyes, searching hers for an answer.

“You got what you wanted. I gave in just like you said I would.” Now that she thought about it, what was left? “The chase is over.”

“This may be a whole new experience for me, but nothing is over.” He leaned forward and kissed her. His tender mannerisms surprised her. “I’ve never had a problem walking away when the night ended, but I’m not going to be able to do that with you.”

“You’re not?” The knot that formed in her stomach eased. “What does that mean?”

“I don’t know.” He kissed her before continuing. “I’m being honest with you. I don’t know what I want to come next. I don’t even know how I would do what comes next.”

“You’re not making any sense.”

“I have sex. That’s what I know.”

“You’ve asked me out on a date. You followed through with the date. We’re having a good time. Why can’t we just keep doing this and see where it goes?”

“Because I’ll disappoint you.” He held her chin as he rubbed her cheek with his thumb. “Your expectations are high when it comes to men. I’ve heard you talk about your father. I see the way you admire Nic and Pax. That’s not who I am.”

“I don’t care.” Most of her ideas had come from books and movies. Those weren’t real. Holt was concrete and honest. Not some guy she’d thought up in her mind. The look in his eyes screamed vulnerability. That was something new.

“You will.” He nodded, so sure of himself. “All women want the perfect man, but there’s no such thing. You should meet my father. I could tell you stories that would steer you clear away from any kind of commitment, especially with anyone with my last name.”

The senator was notorious for his affairs. He’d been photographed on more than one occasion with women much younger than he was. Now it made sense. Holt grew up in a home where commitment and fidelity didn’t exist.

“Is that why you don’t do relationships? Because of the example your father set?”

“I guess you could say the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.” He took her hand in his. “My parents have a strange understanding. My mother stands by his side while he goes out and does whoever he wants. It’s been that way my whole life. I learned from the master.”

“I don’t believe that.” Just because his father was a cheater didn’t mean he had to be.

“All I’m saying is you should go into this with caution. I’ve never dated, never done anything romantic or even wanted to. I could fuck this up in a matter of seconds.”

“You don’t need to be perfect for me.” She rested her palm on his cheek. “You’ve made it clear who you are and I still can’t stay away from you.”

“I can’t stay away from you either.” The conflict in his eyes bothered her. He shouldn’t look so defeated after what they had shared, but the mood had turned somber. There was no denying it.

“Do you want to spend the night, or will that freak you out too much?” She’d be devastated if he wanted to leave, but she wouldn’t beg him to stay. He would have to come to her on his terms if this could go any further.

“Spending the night is right up there with dating and doing amorous things.”

“You don’t do it.” She leaned against the headboard, pulling the comforter over her. “Does that have to do with your dad too?”

“I’ve never done it before.” He settled in next to her. “But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to do it tonight.” Wrapping his arms around her, he pulled her closer to him, holding her tight. “I want to stay.”

“Sorry about that crack I made about your dad.” She thought he wanted to leave, so she did the only thing she could to protect herself and lashed out.

“This conversation really has no room for him.” He ran his fingers through her hair. “Things shouldn’t be this serious. We just had phenomenal sex. Like off the charts crazy.”

“It was good.”

“It was better than good.” He turned to face her. “Wasn’t it?”

“I don’t know.” She traced her fingers along his chest and to his stomach. “Maybe we better do it again so I can be sure.”

“Little minx.” He rolled on top of her, grabbing her wrists and pinning them to the mattress. “Now that you’ve invited me to stay, I’m going to make you scream all night long.” He kissed her neck, working his way to her breasts. “I hope no one calls the police.”

“Mmm...” She curled her legs around his hips as she closed her eyes and let him pleasure her. “I’ll take my chances.”

He was a complicated man. There were more layers than she had initially thought. There was a reason he hopped from bed to bed, and now that she knew what it was, she’d find a way to make him see that relationships could work when two people were committed and honest. She’d just have to go about it carefully.

Holt stretched and rolled over, feeling for Rosalie, but her side of the bed was empty. He’d reached for her several times throughout the night, keeping her close and kissing her when he needed her. He had no idea sleeping next to someone could be so fulfilling.

Where is she?
He sat up and looked around. Squinting at the clock, he noted it was still early. He glanced down at Rosalie’s pillow. Picking it up, he brought it to his face, inhaling her scent. She was all over him. Her taste on his lips, her smell on his skin, and her face etched in his mind forever. How had she managed to invade his mind so quickly?

“Smell good?” Rosalie stood in the doorway, wearing his t-shirt from last night, which was knotted at her hip, revealing a tiny pair of pink panties.

She held a tray full of food. His stomach growled when the aroma reached his nostrils, but he was sure he wanted to devour her before the food.

“What did you do?” he asked.

“I made you breakfast.” She walked over and set the tray in the center of the bed. “I figured you’d be hungry.”

“Breakfast in bed?” He ran his fingers over his jaw, not sure what to make of this early-morning scenario. “No one’s ever... You didn’t have to do that.” Why did she make him breakfast?

“You may not be hearts and flowers, slugger, but I am.” She scooted in next to him. “After the
multiple
home runs you hit last night...well, let’s just say you deserve breakfast in bed.”

“I’m glad I could accommodate you.”
That’s what I’m here for.
Maybe if he kept telling himself that he’d actually believe it. He hadn’t veered too far off course when it came to her. Had he?
