Night Sky (Satan's Sinners MC Book 3) (29 page)

Once I have the gun ready, I put the end against my father's forehead, and he tries to move his head around fighting against what is about to happen. I jerk my chin at Romeo, who grabs my father's head, holding it in place while stepping to the side. I count to three in my head and pull the trigger. One shot and I ended his miserable excuse of a fuckin' life. Romeo lets go of him, and I watch as his head falls back, blood seeping out and dribbling to the floor.

I turn my attention to my mother. The shot must have woken her up because her eyes start blinking open. She looks around to see where she is at, then looks next to her at my father. My mother's mouth opens, wide eyes scrunching, and I can tell she is beginning to scream. Hunter cuts her off by slapping a hand over her mouth. I kneel down in front of her like I did with my father, but I place my hand against her sunken cheek.

Her head tilts to the side a little, leaning into the touch as her eyes take me in. She visibly relaxes when recognition takes hold. My gaze goes up to Hunter and Romeo before I remove his hand from her mouth and look at her once again.

Not much can phase us Sinners, but both of my brothers blink furiously trying to dry up their wet eyes because of the sight before them. My mother lifts her shaky arm to place her hand against my cheek, then her mouth is moving.

My attention goes to Romeo so he can relay what she's saying.

Jaxon is that you? What happened to you, baby? You were supposed to be back from the store. You know your father gets so mad.

She is going back in time to when I was younger. She's out of her goddamn mind.

I have to use my voice. “Mom, yeah it's me, but I haven't been home in nine years.” She feels around my face, really taking me in. Her mouth starts moving again.

I watch as Romeo interprets.
You haven't? Why are you talking? You haven't talked in a long time, Jaxon. You know you are going to make your father mad if he hears you. You always ignore him and it makes him angry, that's why he always does bad stuff to you.

“Mom, listen I need you to focus. Dad is dead. I need to ask you a question.”

She looks next to her once again then back at me. Tears form in her eyes and she starts talking.

What happened to him, Jaxon?

I dismiss her question. “I need to ask you a question, Mom.”

What is it?

“Do you want to get off the drugs?”

Her head shakes back and forth.
I can't do that. You know I need my medicine, but now what am I going to do? I don't have anyone else to get it.

“Do you want to live or die, Mom?”

Jaxon, I never lived to begin with. I have been on the medicine for so long now, it would kill me anyway if I tried to stop. I don't want to feel the pain anymore. Can you make it stop, baby?

“Yeah I can make it stop, Mom.”

Jaxon, I'm sorry I wasn't a better mother to you, and that I let your father do all those things to you. Can you make it stop now, Jaxon? I need the pain to go away now, baby. I don't want anymore pain.

I give her a nod, swipe a stray tear off my cheek, and put the silencer up to her forehead. I pull the trigger, the same as I did my father, only difference is with my mother, I am freeing her. Freeing her from the pain, the addiction and the suffering she has endured all of these years.

I walk back into my parents’ bedroom. I knock the candle over and I watch as the trash on the floor starts taking fire. I walk out of the room, the guys have grabbed our shit and are waiting for me in the living room. The smoke is starting to come out and it’s catching fire quickly, so we head outside and off the porch. We stand there for a minute, watching it catch fire. I feel a hand on each of my shoulders. I look at Romeo first. He starts to sign.
Brother, that was intense. Are you okay? I don't even know what to say about you growing up here.

You don't need to say anything, I lived it. I know how bad it was. I'm okay. My father can go meet Satan and hopefully I sent my mother to a better place.

I look at Hunter next, with sadness in his eyes, he gives me a nod. I know it's not sadness from what just happened, but from me growing up here.

As the fire spreads, we turn, walking back to the car. I text Hanger, letting him know not to call Jenkins. When the firefighters, ambulance, and police get here, if they can get the bodies out they will think it was a drug deal gone bad and that the fire was an accident with the candle tipping over.

Once we are back in the car, Romeo starts it up and we head back to the clubhouse.

I never look back.

EVER

Strip It Down by Luke Bryan

I'm standing at the bar with Shug, who is one of the club whores, and since she doesn't sign we are using paper and pen to communicate. She wasn't ever with Writer which is good, but she is different than the other underdressed women around here. She hasn't exactly came out and said she doesn't want that kind of life, it's more of I don't think she belongs here. I don't know her story or why she’s here, and I won't ask. She’ll tell me if she wants to. Shug is a tall, beautiful girl with her tan skin, long dark brown hair, and amber colored eyes. She is a few years younger than Zoey and I, but Shug is a very smart girl.

I actually hired her to start working at the store with me when it opens, which we have the grand opening in a few days. She has been a life savor, getting everything ready because of my inability to do anything. Writer and I talked about it and I agreed that I would go to work when the store opens as long as I have one of the guys there at all times. I'm still terrified because that other guy hasn't been found yet. Writer agreed to it after talking to Hanger.

In the main room of the store, Shug has hung all of my new line of clothing up, and in the other room I had set up for clothes we have put in Sinners merchandise and clothing. Writer told me that Hacker was opening up a strip club, so I also have outfits in there for the girls to buy. Now that they are invested in my store, I feel it’s only right to make them a part of it.

I see my man walk up to me and he looks like sex on a stick.
Ever, c'mon I want to show you something.
He has on dark low riding jeans, black boots with his worn out Satan's Sinners shirt, and cut on. Those soul searching green eyes bore into me and I feel it throughout my whole body. Shew, it's been a long four weeks.

It's never been about sex or fucking with Writer, but we haven't done anything since I was in the hospital. He was waiting for the doctor to lift all restrictions first. I can't take much more of having to stare at him day in and day out and not be able to make love to him. The sexual tension is building between Writer and I, he can feel it, I can feel it, and everyone around us can feel it. I want to jump on him and have my way with him every time I see him. I was starting to get really angry because of the stupid limits I was put on from the doctor, but today I have been lifted from everything.

I'm not going one more night having him lay in bed next to me and I can't touch him the way I want. I'm not going one more night kissing and making out like teenagers only to have to stop. I'm not going one more night of having his leather and musk scent envelope me, causing a stir of throbbing in between my legs only to have to ignore it. I am rectifying this situation tonight.

Okay.
I don't hesitate for a second in my response because truth is, I would go anywhere he asked me to go.
I wave bye to Shug, who is laughing at us because Writer is practically dragging me to the door.

We get outside, the sun is starting to set, making the sky different shades of yellow and orange. He keeps pulling me until we are on the side of the clubhouse where the ladder is leaning on the side of the building.
Go on up, Baby. I'll be right behind you.
I smile as the memory of the first time we came up here hits me with his words. In a way it was so long ago, yet in some ways it feels like it was just yesterday and not three years. I give him a nod and start to climb. I get to the top and my eyes grow large with surprise. I was not expecting the sight before me.

Writer has laid out a blanket with rose petals scattered all around. There is a bottle of champagne off to the side with a couple of glasses and a box. I step onto the rooftop and turn, waiting for him to get up there.
You did all this for me?

Yes, do you like it?

Of course I do! Thank you!
I throw my arms around him as he wraps his around my waist. He peppers kisses from my neck to cheek until he lands on my lips. Our tongues slide together gently, there is no rushing or fighting for control, it's just soft and sweet. He pulls away all to soon, takes my hand, then leads me over to the blanket.

Sit,
he commands and I do exactly that, but I'm wondering what he has up his sleeve. Writer walks over, grabbing the champagne, opens it and pours some into both glasses. He brings one over to me, and I take it while he gets his and sits across from me.

What's going on? Why did you do all of this?
Curiosity getting the better of me.

Because you said yes to marrying me, but I need to do it right.
He takes a small sip then sits the glass next to him. He pulls something out of his pocket and then is on one knee before me.

Writer takes my left hand, slides the ring on my finger, then gives me a quick kiss.

Sugar, I once asked you if you were gonna marry me one day. You asked if it was a proposal and I said no, you would get a hell of a lot more than this rooftop. But this rooftop became our place. You said you loved it here and so I added a little extra tonight.
He gives me a wink with a bigger smile.

He goes on.
This last month has been the best of my life. Our connection has always been above and beyond the sex. It's about the late night talks and me getting to hold you. It's about making up for lost time and now, planning our future together. I have had you beside me everyday for the last month and I want you to stay there, always. I want it all with you. So I will ask you one more time, will you marry me, Ever Lee Porter?

I nod my head and move my lips, saying “yes.” Writer grabs me around the waist, hugging me tightly, and smashes his lips down on mine. Then I feel the first raindrop hit the top of my head. Then another and another. It starts pouring. When he pulls away, I am left breathless once again by this man. We both look up to the sky, laughing, then he stands, bringing me up with him.

Dance with me.
It's not a question, it's a command, and this brings back memories of the first time we danced on this rooftop in the pouring rain under the stars. Writer wraps my arms around his neck, then runs his hands down my arms, down my sides, and pulls me close as his arms go around my waist. Just like the first, we dance to an unknown beat for a few minutes. Slowly swaying back and forth, I lay my head against his chest and I run one hand through his soft hair.

We get done dancing and he lets go of me. Writer grabs the box and hands it to me.
What is it?

His smile is blinding as he says,
Open it and find out.
I take the top off the box, look inside, and I know exactly what it is.

It's my cut!
I sign excitedly while he laughs. I take it out of the box, holding it up to look at it thoroughly.

Yes, it is. I had Chatty make it for you before Ripper died. I was holding onto it until you were ready. I am hoping, since you agreed to be my wife, you will also be my Ol' Lady now.

I sit it back in the box.
Yes!
I nod quickly then add,
I absolutely will be your Ol' Lady.
I lift it up, examining it again, I notice something missing.
Why doesn't it have my name on it?

Because I was leaving that for you. I know that the guys call you City, so I thought maybe now that you have a name you would want that.

I put my cut on then spin in a full circle.
How does it look?
