“Sometime real soon you’ll need to learn that you don’t control the things I do. It’s the other way between us.” A knock on the glass drew our attention. Lucas pointed toward the bar.
“He’s ready,” Lucas jerked his head and Mason held up his hand.
“On my way.” He finished sliding his belt back on and getting himself situated before he looked at me. “You don’t go anywhere. We aren’t done with this talk.” He was gone before I could manage a retort.
Most girls dreamt of a man riding in on a white horse to claim their hearts. Not one of them ever dreamt of a man driving up on a Harley offering to buy them.
CHAPTER ELEVEN
MASON
Jayson sat at the head of his table rambling about an upcoming drop. It was to be a big one, twice the load than we’ve done before. I wasn't’ even listening. In my head played images of ripping his fucking throat out. How many times, I wondered, had that fat prick snuck his way into Lucy’s room?
I had kept my temper, while she told me everything she needed to tell me, because I didn't want to scare her, but my blood boiled. Watching that asshole laugh and make merry as he went about usual business made me want to puke on his fucking table. Tick had finally shown up and kept nudging me to bring my mind back to business at hand. If he knew what I knew, would he have sat so idly by?
“The pickup is fifteen miles south, closer to the border controls than I like, but doable…”
Lucy was right. If I offered to pay off her debt, Jayson would be suspicious. It wouldn’t be a fair deal and he’d probably take insult to it. He seemed to have some weird obsession with her. Even if he ok’d the buy, what the fuck would I do with her then? She had nowhere to go, she’d needed somewhere. The clubhouse seemed an obvious place. She could stay with me, get a job, and go to school. Hell, we could get a place outside the clubhouse. Buy a house.
“Mason, you and Tink there will meet up with my guys at the drop point.”
“Tick.” Tick corrected him.
“Tink, Tick, whatever.” Jayson laughed. “Same shit. You two meet up with my guys, the four of you will finish the ride up to San Marcos and make the handoff.”
“Why the second pick up. The four of us should go down for the pickup and head straight. No stops.” I pointed out.
“Too long of a haul. Need to break it up” Jayson said with a sideways grin. He gave off the vibe that he wasn’t giving us the full plan. I looked to Tick, who was shaking his head.
“Not that long of a haul. We’ll be there for the initial pick up.” He jammed his finger into the table. “Last thing we need is to keep pulling off the highway with that shit in the truck. One shot straight through.”
“I’m telling you how this is gonna run. Not The other way around.” Jayson’s voice hardened. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Lucy walking around the bar.
A patched member stopped her and began chatting her up. The conversation seemed casual enough, he stepped back as she talked. I turned back to Tick. “We’ll run it by Marcus, if he’s not okay with it, we’ll be back to hash out a new plan.”
“Fine. You do that.” Jayson smiled like we’d just given him some gift. Fallen into a trap?
I looked back over at Lucy. The guy was closer, touching her arm with his fingertips. She shook her head, but he pointed over her shoulder. Her shoulders sagged and she nodded. Defeated. My fists clenched instinctively.
Tick kicked me under the table, bringing my attention back to the room. I scooted my chair back, folding my hands behind my head trying to give a causal appearance while getting a better look at what was unfolding outside the room. Jayson continued to ramble on about the drop- a simple endeavor he was trying to fuck up with all of his relay shit. From the corner of my eye, I saw the asshole grab Lucy and pull her back toward the main hallway. The hallway that led to her bedroom.
My hands fisted again, my muscles clenched. I couldn't’ do a fucking thing. If I barreled into her room, I’d be putting her and me in danger. My club would lose the alliance and the deal with the cartel. Instead, I sat in the room listening to Jayson's bullshit.
Once he was finally done, I jumped up from my seat and stalked out into the lounge. She wasn’t there. Jessica was though and she saw me right away. “Mason.” She called after me as I walked toward the hall. “Mason!” Her voice carried, but I ignored her.
When I got to Lucy’s room, I took a deep breath. Just as I gripped the handle, Jayson called me. “Hey, Mason.” I turned and he stood in the entrance way with two beers in his hands. “Come have a beer. She’s got a customer, you’ll have the second round.” He waved me over with the bottle.
Before I managed to come up with an excuse or to act, the door flew open and the asshole I’d seen before, glared at me. I moved out of his way as he stalked out of the room, eyes wild and his face red with anger. Jayson noticed it, too and asked him what the fuck happened.
“Bitch got her period.” I heard him growl and almost burst out laughing. Jayson did laugh and slapped the guy on the back.
“Not your thing, huh?”
Lucy got up from where she sat on her bed. A knowing smile on her face as she walked to the opened door. She gave me a quick wink and pushed the door closed. If Jayson hadn’t been right there, I would have gone in anyway. But he called me again. There’d be plenty of time to finish our conversation later. And we would be finishing the conversation.
CHAPTER TWELVE
LUCY
Mason and the others had left on some job several days ago. Lucas stayed behind, mostly I think to keep an eye on Jessica. He’d been spending more and more time with her. Taking her home after her shift and bringing her back the next day, but when I tried to ask her about it, she just blushed and changed the subject. I’ve never known her to blush.
Thankfully Jayson stayed away from me when he thought I had my period. The birth control I used, kept me from getting my period, but I didn’t tell them that. It was like a vacation once a month.
Mason’s offer to pay off my debt lingered in the back of my mind. If he did manage to get Jayson to say okay, what would my life be like? I’d go back to his clubhouse? Be their whore instead? I’d just be changing the geography of my prison.
What if Mason meant more than that? What if he mean we could be together? What the fuck did that mean? He already made it clear there would be no power struggle in that relationship. Hell, he made it sound like the decision had been made for me.
Needing to keep my mind occupied, I decided to clean out the storeroom. Between the dust and the unorganized manner those bastards kept things, I’d be busy all afternoon. After I finished stocking the bar, I told Jessica where to find me and headed off in there.
It took almost two hours to get the boxes organized and the trash put to the side. The door to the storeroom opened, as I turned around. I nearly screamed from the surprise of finding someone standing in the doorway, and my heart jumped when I noticed that someone was Mason.
“Didn’t mean to startle you.” He laughed softly and reached out to steady me. I put the box I’d been holding down and wiped my hands on my jeans.
“You’re back.” I stated the obvious.
He took a step toward me, shutting the door behind him. “Yeah, I’m back.” His voice dipped. Another step in my direction. He stalked me. I shuffled backward until I backed into the rack. “Careful.” He reached out and steadied the rack with both hands on either side of me. Trapping me where I was. “Now about our talk.”
“Don’t’ start that again.” I tried to laugh it off. I hadn’t expected to feel so aroused just by seeing him. Just looking at him made me want him. That wasn’t supposed to happen.
“You’ll come back with me to the clubhouse.”
“And be your whore? No.” I shook my head.
I should have expected it, but it still surprised me when he moved his hand and cupped my sex. Even through my jeans, I could feel the heat of his fingers, his palm as he pressed against me. I closed my eyes, determined not to feel anything he did to me. “Mason-”
“Shh. I don’t want you to say anything other than yes sir or thank you sir. Got it?” He began to move his fingers, and I clenched my hands. It felt as though there was no material between his hand and my body, his fingers triggered such a response from me. I opened my eyes and found his staring at me, the blue of his eyes dark. “Do you understand, Lucy?”
He leaned forward, inhaling deeply. “Fuck you smell good. Answer me.”
“Yes.” I nodded, my legs began to wobble, my knees went weak from the delicious torture he continued to apply between my legs.
“What?” His hand stilled and I groaned.
“Yes, Sir.” I corrected myself and nearly came undone when his hand went back to work, harder now, with more force.
“That’s a good girl.” He leaned toward me further still, the stubble on his chin rubbing against my cheek, as he brought his mouth down to my neck. I tilted my head away, giving him better access. His teeth scratched over my skin just before his tongue licked away the sting. “You missed me.” He breathed in my ear. Tingles shot through me.
I wanted him to kiss me then, to possess me as he had so many times before. Instead, he wound his free hand into my hair, pulling my head back. “Mason.” I breathed, but didn’t know what I wanted to say. Stop? No, that wasn’t it. Please?
“I’m right here.” He spoke softly into my ear. The heat of his breath sending a shiver down my spine. He stopped rubbing me and undid the button on my jeans, slowly lowering my zipper. “You didn't have your period did you?”
I managed to look him the eye, even with my head still pulled back. “No.”
“You didn’t want that guy to touch you. You wanted me.”
Of course, I wanted him! Having someone else touch me, fuck me while Mason was in the club had felt wrong, horrible. “Yes, Sir.” I found myself saying while his hand slid into my jeans, under my panties. His fingers found my clit and I nearly rocketed out of my body.
“So wet.” He chuckled into my ear. Having him so close, being toyed with by him, and made me that way. For him. I wanted him badly. “Do you think I should let you come? Like this? Pinned up against a shelf, my hand in your pants?”
“Yes, Sir.” I tried to nod, but his grip in my hair intensified. Tears built in my eyes from the sting in my scalp.
“I’m not that easy. Not yet.” A tear slid down my cheek from the corner of my eye, he licked it away. “Now.” He slid a finger inside of me. I made a sound. I tried to keep quiet, but when he slipped a second finger in, his palm still rubbing my clit I heard a loud groan fill the space between us. His grin told me how loud I had been. “Shh, you don’t want anyone walking in, do you? With my hand in your pants, my fingers in your wet pussy?”
“N-no, Sir.” I pinched my lips closed, determined not to make another peep. He let go of my hair and slid his hand into my shirt. He pulled the neckline of the tank top down, releasing my breast from the constraining fabric. He dipped his head down and licked my nipple. Looking up at me for a split second, making sure I was watching, he licked me again, this time wrapping his lips around my nipple, drawing it out to a hardened peak.
The soft heat of his tongue circling around my nipple sent electric waves to my clit, intensifying his movements even more. I gasped for breath as I could feel the pressure building, the impending orgasm chasing me down. “Not yet.” He murmured against my breast, teasing me with his teeth, biting and suckling.
“I can’t wait.” I shook my head.
“You better, or you’ll go without for much longer.” He straightened up and watched my face. “Don’t you dare come yet.” The grating of his voice drew me further to my doom. I wasn’t going to last long if he kept staring at me like that. Like his whole world began with me. That nothing else existed at that moment except for the two of us.
“Please.” I pushed my pelvis toward his hand. My legs shook, I needed to feel that release. He slid his arm around my waist, holding me up as he moved his hand quicker, bringing me to the edge. “Please, Sir. Please.” I grabbed his waist, digging my fingers into him.
“Not yet.” He whispered and slid a third finger into me. I yelled out at the fullness, the desire that burned inside of me. “Okay. Now.”
My body, his instrument, followed his dictate and fell into a million pieces as my orgasm shook my body. I gasped for breath that wouldn't come. My hands clenched around his shirt and I threw my head back screaming out as the waves hit me. I didn’t care who could hear.
“Shhh…” He kissed my cheek, slowing the ministrations of his hand and bringing me back to earth. When I could catch my breath, I looked at him. Grinning from ear to ear like a proud boy.
“Oh my god.” My face heated. The entire club must have heard me.
“It’s okay. It’s okay.” He pulled his hand out of my pants and brought his fingers to his mouth licking each finger as though he were delving into a delicious treat.
With shaking fingers I managed to right my clothing, under his gaze. I looked down, at the obvious erection in his pants and began to glide down to my knees. His hands caught me under my arms and pulled me back up.
“No.” He swiped his hand across my brow and kissed me tenderly. “Not today. Today was just for you.”
“I don’t understand.”
“You don’t have to.” He shook his head. “Now, about that conversation we never finished.”
“Again?” I rolled my eyes.
“You could go to school, get your nursing degree. Get a job that pays in actual cash. Be free. Why would you say no to that?”
I studied him. He hadn’t shaved since I last saw him, the stubble gave him an even more dangerous look. His blue eyes weren’t playful as they usually were, they were hard and focused on me. If only he’d understand. “Because I would be trading one club for another. Do you really think Jayson won’t go after me, or you, or your club? Why would you want to start a war over me?”
“I protect what’s mine.” He crossed his arms over his chest, taking a stand.
“Maybe I don’t want to be yours.”
“That’s a lie. And lies are punishable.”
“Christ. Mason, you don’t know what you’re asking.”
“If I told you the MC life wasn’t all I wanted, that one day I wanted out, would that change your mind?” If he was trying to throw me off balance, that statement did the trick.
“You don’t want to be a Reaper anymore?”
“I don’t want this forever. I see my president and look at Jayson. Worn down by years of stress and warring. For what? Money? Fuck that. I’d like to go to bed at night and not worry some asshole is gonna try to stick a knife in my back the next day. Besides, things are changing. This alliance is bullshit and both sides know it. The cartel is gonna barrel through and rip us both to shreds, and then what?” I watched his face, wondering if he was making up a story for my benefit.
“Since when?” I eyed him with suspicion.
He raked a hand through his hair, leaving it standing on end in some spots. “I don’t know.” He blew out a breath. “Since you, this deal with the cartel. Tick getting engaged.” Tick? Who was Tick?
“He’s never going to let you pay off the debt.” I spoke more for my benefit than his. I couldn’t entertain the idea of actually doing what he proposed. Jayson would never allow it. “Just asking could start shit between your clubs.”
“Let me worry about that.” He stepped to me, cupping my face in his hands. “I want you to think about this. Really, really think. I can get you out of here. You’d be safe. Able to go to school.”
“And you? If you did leave your club, what would you do?” I doubted MC member looked good on a resume.
“We’ll figure it out together. One step at a time, though.” His eyes moved over my face and he pushed the hair away from my eyes. “Fuck your beautiful.” He kissed me, pressing his lips against mine. He tasted sweet, clean, and I lost myself in him for that moment. The possibilities he laid out seemed real, during that kiss.
When he pulled back and looked down at me, I shook my head. “I don’t know.”
“Think about it, Lucy.” He released me and pushed the door to the room open. I stepped out of the store room and watched him make his way through the lounge. Another man, bald and just as scary looking, stood from a table and followed Mason through the door.
Could I let him try? I didn’t want to put anyone else in danger, and if putting the clubs on opposite sides because of me would hurt anyone, I wouldn’t do it. But I would let myself indulge in the fantasy. For a little while at least. For one night. Imagining what it would be like to be on Mason’s arm. Not his old lady, or his whore, but his girlfriend- wife? He talked like he saw a future outside the club, but would he really be happy? A guy like him didn’t know any other way of life, how would he even begin to fit in regular society? We’d have to move away- he couldn’t stay in the same town as the Reapers and the Disciples would have his throat, too.
