When Chase opened his eyes, he crawled on top of me. He grabbed my wrists with one hand and pinned them over my head. I could feel the delicate bones in my wrists grinding together as he straddled my hips and nudged my pussy with the head of his cock. I could already feel my skin stretching and he wasn’t even inside of me yet!
“Do you want me, Lacey?” Chase growled.
I looked into his eyes and nodded. “Yes,” I managed to squeak. “I do.”
“How much do you want me?” Chase’s breathing was coming in sharp, hard bursts and I saw a shudder of desire move through his body.
“I want you so badly,” I whispered, making my voice low and sexy. “I want you to fuck me. I want you to wreck me, Chase. Take me and make me yours forever.”
Chase grabbed onto my hips and slid inside me with incredible force. I screamed as he cock tore into my pussy and filled me completely. When he was all the way inside, he stopped moving. I could feel his cock pulsing inside my body and I bit my lip and looked into his eyes. Slowly, Chase began to thrust in and out. He moved his hips slowly at first and then faster and faster until it became more serious for him. With every thrust, his pubic bone rubbed against my clit and soon I felt myself become as aroused as I had been while Chase was licking my asshole.
Digging his fingers into my flesh, Chase flipped on his back and brought me with him. His cock didn’t slip out of me as I adjusted myself on his lap. He wrapped his hands around my waist and began to move my body up and down, like a helpless doll bouncing on his cock. My pussy was soaked with my arousal and Chase’s cock slid in and out of me with ease. With a grin, he reached behind me and slipped his fingers between the cheeks of my ass.
“Spread yourself,” he commanded in a low gruff tone as he thrust harder and harder inside of me. “Spread your ass for me, baby.”
I reached behind me and took one cheek in each hand, spreading myself and exposing my asshole to Chase’s mercy. He stuck his finger in my mouth and I eagerly licked and sucked at it for a moment. When he pulled it out, he reached behind my back and traced it down the crack of my ass. The wetness left a trail that made me shiver, even though the rest of my body was on fire. Without warning, Chase plunged his finger deep inside my ass. It was almost painful at first and I yelped, not used to the sensation of being doubly penetrated. But after a few seconds, the discomfort melted into an amazing sense of pleasure. I felt so full; I felt like I was literally going to burst, or that Chase was going to tear me apart. As I rode him faster and faster, Chase howled with pleasure. He pulled his finger in and out of my ass and I felt the pleasure in my belly build and build until finally I was coming harder than I ever had before. My breath came in hoarse sobs as I rode Chase’s massive cock. I could feel the spasms in my pussy gripping him even more tightly than before and Chase gasped with the intensity of it all. He slid his finger out of my ass and grabbed ahold of my hips, forcing me to keep riding him through my savage orgasm. I could feel his cock twitching and pulsing and I braced myself for his explosion inside of me.
“Lacey!” Chase screamed loudly. “Lacey, I’m gonna fucking come inside of you!”
“Do it,” I hissed, my own breath coming in damp bursts. Chase screwed his eyes shut and groaned, thrusting up so hard that I could feel him against my cervix. It was almost painful and I whimpered, but it was beginning to make me feel like I could come again. As he pushed into me again and again, I closed my eyes and rode his body hard. My clit felt like it was on fire as I forced myself to another rough orgasm on Chase’s pubic bone. The spasms in my pussy set him off and I finally felt his cock jerk and pulse and gush inside of me. Chase let out a deep breath and squeezed my ass once more before pulling me down on his chest. For a moment, we cuddled like that with his cock still inside of me. His chest was shining and hot with sweat and I felt the damp tangles of my hair against my forehead as I lay down.
Without saying a word, Chase reached up and stroked the hair out of my eyes. He wrapped his arms around me and held me tightly. The room reeked of our lovemaking, if you could have called it that. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and tried to relax. I couldn’t believe Chase had played with my ass. I couldn’t believe that I’d actually
liked
it. Most unbelievable of all was the fact that we’d just fucked after starting to hate each other.
I swallowed hard when I thought about Chase leaving. I wondered if I’d ever see him again. I wondered what would happen when he finally chased down the boss and revealed that he knew about The Manticore. For what felt like the billionth time that night, tears came to my eyes. I hugged Chase tightly.
“Lacey, what’s wrong? Are you crying? Did I hurt you?”
I shook my head, willing the tears to go away. They didn’t, and soon I was choking on little sobs. “I can’t help it,” I cried. “I’m sorry. I’m scared.”
Chase squeezed me to his chest and moved his body so his still-hard cock slid out of me. He pulled a blanket off the end of the bed and covered our bodies. It was almost too warm but after a few minutes I could feel myself cooling down. The sobs kept coming and Chase kept holding me. When my eyes were starting to dry, I rolled over onto my belly and propped myself up with my elbows. For once, I no longer felt self-conscious about being naked around Chase.
“I have to see you again,” I said quietly.
Chase narrowed his eyes. “And why is that?” he asked. “You want another round so soon?”
I shook my head and shivered. “I’m not going to be able to walk right for a week,” I pointed out. “Some great job of running away I’ll do if they come for me.”
The look Chase gave me told me that even if I
was
able to run, there’s no way I could outrun them. I swallowed. “Sorry,” I said. “Kidding.”
“So what’s really going on?” Chase asked. “Tell me.”
“Well, for one thing,” I said, trying not to giggle, “you owe me a new dress.”
I expected Chase to scoff at me, instead his face turned almost tender. “Oh, Lacey,” he said finally. “Come here.” He held out his arms and I dove into them and let him hold me. “I’ll keep you safe,” he whispered. It was the last thing I remembered hearing before falling asleep.
Chapter Thirty Four
The morning felt cold and awkward. Chase and I woke up together, tangled in my bed, smelling like musk and sweat and sex. I’d sweated all night and my limbs were damp. Despite the fact that we’d slept for over seven hours, I still felt exhausted. My head was hurting and my eyes were sore; I almost felt hungover. When Chase got up and started to get dressed, I had to turn away. It was like I couldn’t even watch the man I cared for—loved?—without starting to hurt myself.
When Chase was finished dressing, he sat down on the edge of the bed and started putting on his combat boots. I expected him to look at me and make a crack about how we wouldn’t see each other for a while, or for him to tell me to stay out of trouble. Something nonchalant and teasing like always. But no such comment ever came, and I found myself feeling more anxious with every passing second.
“Are you feeling okay?” I asked, twisting myself into a sitting position on the bed. Despite how open and slutty I’d acted with Chase the night before, morning always made me feel vulnerable again. When his green eyes swept their penetrating gaze over my body, I covered myself up with a sheet.
“I’m fine,” Chase grunted. “Do you have any coffee?”
I laughed. “No,” I said, shaking my head. “Don’t you remember? You got rid of the coffee machine I bought you.”
“I thought you might have replaced it,” Chase said gruffly.
I rolled my eyes and hopped out of bed, keeping the sheet wrapped all the way around me. “I didn’t,” I said firmly. “But you can get some when you leave, I guess.”
Chase looked up at me and I felt a shiver of fear. “I think I’m close,” he said quietly. “I think today might be the day.”
A lump formed in my throat when I realized that this was
really
happening. Some small part of my brain had wanted the whole thing to be a joke. Had wanted Chase to be some impersonator or someone working undercover with a fabricated rap sheet. I never thought that Chase would actually be putting himself in danger. But now I realized that was an incredibly naïve notion to hold on to.
“Okay,” I said blankly. “Do you need help? How will I know that you’re okay?”
Chase shook his head. “There’s nothing you can do but act normal, Lacey. I don’t think it’s a bad idea for you to be outside any longer. I don’t think anyone’s going to be thinking about hurting you.”
Even though I didn’t think Chase was lying to me, my stomach iced over when I heard his words. It was hard for me to believe that I’d be okay when the past few weeks I’d only heard the opposite from Chase. But then I realized that Chase was probably right; everyone was going to be too focused on him.
“I’m going to sing tonight, then,” I said after a beat. “If that’s okay. I think it will help distract me.”
Chase gave me a lopsided grin. “Okay,” he said, getting to his feet. He brushed imaginary dirt off the thighs of his jeans and stretched high towards the ceiling. “I’ll see you later, kid. I have some things to take care of.”
My heart pounded as he stepped towards me and cradled me in his arms. I had no idea what we were, but I knew that whenever I thought about never seeing Chase again I wanted to cry. I hugged him tightly and buried my face in his shirt. He still smelled like me.
“Be safe, kid,” Chase said. He planted his lips on the top of my head and kissed my hair. “I’ll be in touch, okay?”
All I could do was nod. I knew that if I opened my mouth, I’d start crying again. “Okay,” I said finally, in a shaky voice. “I promise I’ll be waiting on edge to hear from you. Please be careful, Chase. Please. Promise me.”
“I promise,” Chase grunted into my hair. He pulled away and suddenly I felt cold; it was always surprising to me how much he managed to warm me up just by holding me.
He loped to the door and threw his leather jacket on over his t-shirt. Giving me a final wave, he opened the door and then left. I stood in one place for a long time, listening to his footsteps until I couldn’t hear them anymore. Then I ran to the window and pressed my face up against the glass.
“Chase!” I called out, but he didn’t turn around. Pressing my face up to the glass, I watched as my breath turned it white. Tears welled up behind my eyes and I blinked hastily in an attempt to stop them, but it was no use. Chase was gone, and I might never see him again.
Chapter Thirty Five
Chase
Leaving Lacey was one of the hardest things I’d ever done. I couldn’t be honest with her about how much danger I was putting myself in. I knew that the gang would likely leave her alone now, provided I was able to let the boss know what Peyton
really
thought of him.
As I drove downtown, the anxiety started building in my stomach. Even though Lacey’s sweet little body had taken my mind off the danger at hand, sex was only good for so much.
Stop it, Chase.
This is no time to be distracted by the pussy
.
I had no idea what the old man at the bar would say to me when I showed up. He certainly wasn’t expecting to see me again, and with good reason; I had a feeling that most of the people who met the famed Manticore face to face didn’t walk away with all of their limbs. And it was funny, after all: I’d been working with Peyton for over a year and still hadn’t had any clue that he was the one responsible. It made my blood boil to think of how he’d tricked me and used me. He probably had spent the entire time of our “friendship” laughing behind my back. I had to shake my head to rid myself of the anger. I could have killed him and not thought twice about it. Hopefully that was the exact thing I’d be doing later that night.
“Old man,” I called out, slamming open the door of the bar. It bounced against the wall with a loud crack and I saw the bartender wince. When he realized it was me, his look of annoyance turned to one of fear. “It’s been a while,” I said gaily. “I need your help again, you piece of shit.”
The old man looked at me with tired eyes. “What do you need, Chase?” His tone was much more patient than mine would have been if I’d been in his shoes. “I can’t give you anything now. I don’t have anything left.”
I shook my head. “It’s not about Peyton,” I said. “Or The Manticore, whatever. Now I need to find the boss of The Machetes. I need to know where to go as soon as possible. I have something I’d think he’d be very interested in hearing.”
The old man looked at me with a shrewd gaze. “Is that so, boy?”
“Don’t call me boy,” I snarled. “This is serious shit, old man.”
The bartender leaned back against the wall. I could see a bruise on his face from where I’d clocked him during one of my previous visits. For someone who I could tear limb from limb, he seemed remarkably cocky when I was around. It was irritating.
“You know something,” I blurted out. “Tell me. You know something and you didn’t tell me before. What is it?”
He shook his head sadly. “I’ve told you before, I don’t want no more killings around here,” he said in a gruff tone. “It ain’t worth it to me to see my city blowin’ up every day.”
“Tell me or I set this place on fire right now!” I grabbed a bottle of whiskey from the counter and my brass lighter from my pocket. When I knew he was watching me, I dumped the whiskey out all over the bar and lit my lighter. “I’m serious,” I warned. “Don’t fuckin’ test me or I’ll do this. And you won’t be getting the rest of your money, either.”
The old man blinked at me. “Fine,” he said shortly. “Go find one of those junkies in the alley and bring him here. I’ll ask the right questions. Just pay attention.”
“You’re fuckin’ infuriating,” I told him. “I can’t fuckin’ believe you’re making me do this.”
The old man didn’t answer, he only shrugged. In anger, I stomped to the door and threw it open. As usual, there were junkies crawling around in the alley like cats. I bet they were desperate for a fix; Peyton hadn’t been around in a couple of weeks.
One of them could practically smell that I was carrying money. He crawled over to me, gripping the brick wall with shaking hands. Up close, I could smell rotten breath and see that his skin looked doughy and moist. He stuck a crooked finger in my direction and opened his mouth.
“Man, you know where I can get a fix? I’m dying, man,” he pleaded. I nodded and grabbed him by the scruff of the neck.
“You’re gonna help me out and then I’ll help you,” I growled. He looked nervous but then relieved and a warm grin spread over his fucked up face. “Now,” I said under my breath. When I started to walk away, he let himself be dragged by the collar of his shirt. The junkie weighed nothing at all; under his baggy clothes I saw there was no meat or fat on his frame. He closed his eyes as I pulled him into the bar. When we weren’t outside, I could smell a strong odor of piss wafting off him. Shaking my head in disgust, I dragged him to the bartender.
The old man leaned over the counter and looked at the junkie with scrutinizing eyes. “It’s been a few days, hasn’t it?” he asked in a voice that wasn’t unkind. The man nodded desperately and held out his hands as though the old man bartender was a god. “I bet you’re feeling pretty desperate, aren’t you?” the old man asked in the same soothing voice.
The junkie nodded quickly. “I am,” he said with a ragged breath. “I am. You have no fuckin’ idea, man. Please, please help me.” He turned his gaze back to me. “What the fuck did you bring me here for, man? Am I gonna die, man?”
The old man shook his head. “You’re not in danger,” he said quickly, answering for me. “But you need to help us. If you help us, we might help you. Got it?”
The junkie kept nodding his head as though in a trance. The bartender turned to me. “This man has some questions about The Machetes.”
The junkie fell to his knees. “Man, I can’t, man,” he sobbed. “I can’t fuckin’ talk about them, man, don’t you fuckin’ get that?’
The old man shook his head. “Then we won’t be able to help you,” he said crisply. “Are you sure that’s your final answer?”
With big, pleading eyes the junkie looked from the old man to me and back again. I nodded and growled at him, and finally he took a deep breath and started to speak. He said, “I haven’t seen anyone from the gang around in weeks, The Manticore ain’t here no more,” he said with a trembling voice.
“Who’s been giving you a fix, then?” I asked gruffly. The junkie shuddered and trembled.
“I don’t know, man,” he said, his jaw twitching. “I don’t know. This car rolls up and some lady comes out and gives us all baggies. I ain’t seen her maybe more than once or twice.”
My eyebrows flew up. “A lady?” I asked dumbly. The junkie nodded.
“She smells good, man, like she has a good pussy. She’s clean. Always wears sunglasses and a dark suit and a hat.”
I narrowed my eyes at him. “What the fuck are you talking about, homes?” I asked. “Are you fuckin’ high right now?”
“No, sir,” the junkie said in a shaking voice. “I ain’t, I promise I ain’t. But it’s a lady.”
In disbelief, I looked to the bartender. “Is this true?” I asked. “Is he lying to me to fuck with me?”
The bartender gave a quick wag of his head. “No,” he said after a moment’s pause. “He’s not lying. There’s a woman affiliated with The Machetes.”
“That’s fucking crazy,” I said, raking a hand through my hair. “Are you sure?”
The junkie nodded. The bartender turned to me and said, “Yeah, this is the real deal alright.”
I pulled up a barstool and sat down. My head was spinning. I’d always imagined The Machetes as a traditional, kind of thuggish gang. They sold heroin, for fuck’s sake. I couldn’t imagine some moneyed woman stepping in on their turf. Maybe she was someone’s old lady, but I couldn’t believe for a second that she’d been around for a long time.
“And you think this woman is the new front runner of the gang?”
