Kat shifted her SUV in reverse. “Where do you want to go?”

“Wanda’s.”

She turned out of the driveway and headed to the diner.

Patty settled in her seat and faced her. “So, do you have anything to tell me?”

“No.”

“You have color in your cheeks and a twinkle in your eye. I bet that you have a wiggle in your walk. So spill it.”

She wasn’t so sure about the wiggle, her inner thighs and hips were sore. Kat tried not to smile. “Nothing happened. J.J. left right after you.”

Patty slapped her arm. “Shut up. He did not.”

“Ouch.” Kat rubbed her throbbing arm. “Now I’m not going to give you any of the details.”

“Sorry, sorry. Please tell this old married lady all about your night of bliss.”

“As if you don’t have your own bliss. If your husband were famous, he would be in one of those sexiest man alive magazines.”

Kat drove into the diner’s parking lot. She glanced over at Patty and chuckled at her pout. She rolled her eyes and took pity on her friend. “Okay, I’ll tell you over lunch.”

“After lunch,” Patty pushed open the passenger side door, “I need to go to The Sassy Lady.”

She opened her door. “What do you want from there?”

“I want some lotions and potions and maybe a nighty or two.”

“Well.” She hooked her arm with Patty’s. “I guess I need some sexy underwear and maybe some nice nightgowns.”

“What, J.J. doesn’t like the pink fuzzy robe and slippers?”

“Actually, he can’t keep his hands off them.” Kat pulled open the door to the diner. “I want to have sexy things for him.”

They settled into a booth and Kat told her best friend every sexy detail of her night with J.J.

Chapter Eleven

J.J. stepped out of his truck in front of RP&K Construction. When he got back to his apartment, he researched Ron’s company. What he found out was amazing. Ron incorporated the company ten years ago, and in that short time, it had become the number one construction company in four counties.

Ron hadn’t told him what he wanted to talk to him about. He hoped it wasn’t about Kat. J.J. intended to see where he and Kat ended up. He walked into Ron’s office and found him on the phone. Ron waved J.J. in and gestured for him to sit. Ron hung up the phone. “Hi, J.J.”

He arched an eyebrow. “Problem?”

“Just a temperamental supplier.”

“I know how that works.”

“I’m sure you do.” Ron stood and opened the small refrigerator in the corner of his office. “Can I get you anything to drink?”

“I’ll take a soda if you have one.”

Ron pulled out a bottle of water and a soda. He handed the can to J.J. “You probably want to know why I called you in to meet with me today.”

He popped open the can. “I was curious.”

“I want to offer you something if you are interested.”

“What?” He took a sip of Coke.

“A partnership.” Ron twisted off the cap to his water.

He almost choked on his drink. “What?” He was sure he’d heard Ron wrong.

“I want your company to landscape all my new developments.” Ron took a swig from his bottle.

That would give J.J. more work than his company could handle. Suspicion washed over him. “Why?” J.J. asked.

“Because you’re the best landscape company in south Florida and I’m the best builder in south Florida. I think we’d make a good team.”

He leaned back in his chair. “Tell me one thing first. What does RP&K stand for?”

“Ron, Patty and Kat.”

Anger flashed white-hot inside him. “Did Kat put you up to this?”

“Kat’s a silent partner.” Ron propped his feet up on his desk.

He knew that was bullshit. Kat was not the silent partner type.

At J.J.’s arched brow, Ron said, “Okay, on paper Kat’s a silent partner, but as you know, we are tight.”

At that moment, he wanted to know something. “How tight are you?”

Ron leaned forward and stared J.J. down. “Listen, kid. You can think whatever you want about me, but I will knock your ass on the floor for disrespecting Kat.”

He bristled at the derogatory tone of Ron’s voice, but he was glad Kat had such good friends. “Sorry, go on.”

“About a year and a half ago, she suggested I find someone to do the landscape design for my developments. I found you, and when I saw she needed some help with her yard, I gave her your name.”

Ron’s explanation seemed reasonable. His company was doing Ron’s yard before he ever met Kat. He needed to make sure she wasn’t behind this. “I’ll think about it.”

“Please do that.” Ron opened his desk drawer. “Do you play poker?”

“Texas hold’em.”

While they played cards, he thought about Ron’s offer. It would be a life changer for him. He would be able to pay off the small amount of business loans he had. Maybe he could buy a place of his own and find a nice piece of land where he could build a shop and a house.

A car door slammed and brought him back to his bid. He tossed in chips and laid down his cards. “Full house.”

Ron tossed down his hand. “Shit, kid. For someone whose head is somewhere else, you sure know how to play poker.”

He heard a cackle of laughter. “I think the girls are here.”

The office door opened. “Hello,” Patty called. “We’re here. Get your girlfriends out, we’re coming in.”

“I thought you two had a meeting.” Patty walked over to her husband and kissed him on the cheek.

“We did and now J.J. is spanking me in poker.”

“I can see that.” Kat smiled. “We all know how much you like to be spanked.”

“I thought that was you,” Ron retorted.

“No. I think that’s Patty Cake.” Kat swatted her friend on the fanny.

J.J. stood and walked to Kat. He kissed her on the lips and stepped back. “What did you two do today?”

“Well,” Patty said, “we went to Wanda’s for fried chicken and mac and cheese.”

“Where did you go after you had lunch?” Ron asked.

Patty’s eyebrows winged up seductively. “We went to The Sassy Lady.”

Ron glanced at the bags. “What did you get?”

Patty grabbed the bags she had set down. “Things.”

“What’s The Sassy Lady?” J.J. asked.

“You’re in for a real treat,” Ron said. “The Sassy Lady is a sex shop for women. Very upscale.”

Red-hot embarrassment skittered down Kat’s spine. “It’s not a sex shop!”

“Yes, it is,” Ron said. “It looks like a lingerie shop on the outside, but on the inside, it’s a sex shop.”

He looked at Kat. “How come I never heard of this place before?”

“I talked our Kat into getting some things,” Patty said.

J.J. squeezed Kat’s ass. “Are you going to model something for me?”

She knew her face burned. “Maybe.”

“What did my wife buy?” Ron asked.

“Everything, I think,” Kat said.

“Good.”

“I wouldn’t say that yet,” Patty said. “You have a lot of work ahead of you.”

A spark flared in Ron’s brilliant blue eyes. “I don’t mind at all.” He glanced over at Kat and smiled. “What did you buy, Kat? I need a new fantasy.”

Patty punched his arm.

“What?” He rubbed at his arm.

Patty pouted.

“Oh you know Ron isn’t going to be able to keep his hands off you,” Kat said.

Patty perked up. “I know.”

Kat turned to J.J. “Did you two have a good meeting?”

“Yes,” Ron said. “I offered him a partnership.”

“You did? That’s great.”

“I haven’t agreed yet,” J.J. said. “I have to think about it.”

“What do you need to think about?”

He stared at Ron. “If he offered it to me because I’m sleeping with you.”

She thought it would have hurt less if he hit her.

Ron stood. “J.J.”

She motioned to Ron to sit. “J.J.” Kat wanted to crawl under Ron’s desk. “How could you think he would do something like that?”

“I had to ask. I don’t want any special benefits from our relationship.” He leaned in for a kiss.

She stepped back. “You won’t be the only one to think that, so if it bothers you, we should stop seeing each other.” Kat didn’t know she had the power to rip her own heart out, but she would not stand in front of J.J.’s future.

“Honey, I’m sorry. Let me think about it. I don’t know if I’m ready to take on so much new work. I have to look over my books and see if I can swing the up-front costs.” He pressed his lips to Kat’s mouth.

Her legs melted from the heat of his lips. What he said made sense to her brain, but her heart told Kat something different.

Patty cleared her throat. “Get a room, you two.”

He leaned his forehead on hers. “That’s a good idea.” He smiled. “What time do you want me over?”

She willed her mouth to move. “Any time.” They could talk about this later in private. “I need to call Sam in about a half hour.”

“Okay, I’ll see you in about an hour.”

* * * * *

J.J. opened Kat’s front door. “Honey, I’m home.” He liked how that sounded. He dropped his bag by the front door and ran to the pink room to find Kat face down on the bed.

“What’s wrong?” He stepped into the large space.

She sat up. “Nothing, just my mother.”

“What did she do now?” He sat next to her.

“Oh fuck me!”

He couldn’t help but smile. If people took the time to get to know the real Kat, they would be in for a treat. “Maybe later.” J.J. wrapped Kat in his arms.

She sighed. “My mother offered me some exercise DVDs. When I told her I already had some, she told me that they weren’t working, so she would bring some that would.”

“I think you’re perfect.” J.J. ran his hands up and down her back. “I hate what your mother does to you.” He kissed Kat’s temple and pulled away. J.J. spotted something silky. He stood and walked over to the closet and poked his head in. “What do we have here?” J.J. grabbed a lush pink nightgown with a matching robe. The confection was the same color of Kat’s skin after she had an orgasm. The sight of it made him hard. He fingered the material and thought how it would feel warm on her body.

Her face flushed. “I think I bought the store out today.”

Anticipation filled him. “What else did you buy?” He stuck his head in even farther.

She hurried to the closet and yanked him out. “That is for me to know and for you to find out, if you’re lucky.”

J.J. pinned her against the wall. He tugged her hands over her head. “I can’t wait to see you in all of it.” J.J. nipped at Kat’s neck. “Do you have some on now?” He started to pull on her shirt.

“No, I don’t.” She wiggled against him. “I haven’t had time to put any on.” The movement sent his cock to full staff.

“Do that again,” he said suggestively. “You make me want you all the time. I can’t remember ever being this horny.” He leaned harder into her and pinned her where she was.

“I don’t think I’ve ever felt like this before.” The sound of her words burned into his soul.

He nipped at her chin. “I’m sure there’ve been men who lusted after you.”

“But I never responded to anyone like this.” She kissed him and nibbled his bottom lip. “I love it.”

He reveled in the knowledge of that. He kissed the sensitive spot under her ear. “I love the way you taste right here.” He flicked his tongue over the sweet spot.

A ball of desire exploded in his gut. “I want to take you out on the town tonight, so put on something sexy.”

Kat’s dreamy expression lifted and she wiggled her hips into his. “Why can’t we stay in and finish what we started?”

He had spent the better part of an hour going over his books and talking to his accountant. His lips curved. “I want to celebrate my partnership with Ron and I want to take you out for dinner.”

“You took the partnership,” she yelped. “That’s great. I’m so happy for you.” She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him hard and deep.

His dick jumped in his pants.

Kat broke the kiss. “Where are you taking me?”

J.J. shook his head clear. “I was thinking of the Sea View for some lobsters and beef Wellington.” He gazed back into her closet.

An idea flashed in his mind. “I’d like you to wear a dress or skirt.”

“I want to make you happy, but I don’t like wearing dresses or skirts. I would have to put nylons on and I hate that.”

“So don’t wear nylons.”

She looked scandalized at the thought.

He laughed.

“I don’t have a skirt or dress.”

He stepped back into the closet. “You must have a dress somewhere.” When J.J. didn’t find what he was looking for, he marched out of Kat’s room and made his way upstairs to the master bedroom. He walked directly to the huge closet and opened the door. J.J. didn’t find any dresses or skirts in there either.

She ran after him. “What are you doing?”

He grabbed her hand and pulled her down the stairs and out of the house.

Kat stumbled. “Where are we going?”

He tugged her out the front door. “We’re going to The Sassy Lady.”

“What?”

“I looked up the store online and saw that they sell sexy, but classy clothes.”

“They do. But—”

He stopped her. “I’m buying you a dress. I want you in a dress!”

“Why?” She tried to pull free.

“You’ll see.” He had plans for Kat and a dress was part of those plans. He opened the door to his truck for her and ran around to the driver’s side.

J.J. had never wanted anything so much. The thought of what he could do to her in a dress drove him crazy. He wanted to have access to her pretty pussy.

“I don’t understand why this is so important to you.”

The short drive seemed to take forever. “I promise, you’ll like it.” J.J. turned into the parking lot and found a spot close to the door. He hurried out of his truck and grabbed Kat’s hand as she stepped off the sideboard. J.J. dragged Kat into the store.

“Hi, Kat, back so soon,” the store clerk said. “How can I help you?”

She tried to pull her hand away. “I really don’t know.”

The store clerk looked over at J.J. and extended her hand. “I’m Sandi. What can I help you with?”

He loosened his death grip on her and shook Sandi’s hand. “We are looking for a nice dress.”

“Sure. Come on back to the fitting rooms. I’ll bring some back to you.”

“Thank you,” he said.
