Inspired by Night: - a sexy new age romance (13 page)

I got out of bed to use the toilet, my legs were shaking and I found it difficult to walk straight. I giggled to myself as I stumbled through the hallway to the bathroom. I felt light and free after carrying around weeks’ worth of pent-up frustration. I made my way to the kitchen to get some water and as I passed my laptop I decided to open it up. I knew he would be there. He was a night owl.

Olivia Jones:
I just road tested my new toy.

Chris Knight:
And?

Olivia Jones:
Best orgasm I ever had.

Chris Knight:
Wow. Wish I’d been there to see it.

My face flushed and I felt the familiar creep of shame wash over me.

Chris Knight:
But then, if I was there, you wouldn’t need a vibrator.

Olivia Jones:
But now that I have a vibrator, I won’t need a man.

Chapter Fourteen

I was distracted all the following day in work. I couldn’t explain it to myself but I was looking forward to chatting to Chris again. I’d logged off last tonight after saying I wouldn’t need a man anymore. I smiled to myself as I remembered and wondered what his response would have been. I had a feeling he would have plenty to say on the subject today. I had realised that it was completely out of character for me to have started the conversation the way I did. To be so open about sex was a new thing for me, and I wasn’t completely comfortable with it. Perhaps it had been the talk I’d had with Ruth that had somehow empowered me or maybe I was just overcome by the amazing orgasm I’d had. I felt the familiar flush of shame as I remembered. There she was, the repressed Olivia I knew. I closed my eyes sighing.

There was something about Chris that affected me. His shameless acknowledgement of sex, his openness about his thoughts and his desires, it made me feel excited. Maybe it was just because it had been so long or perhaps it was because I was attracted to someone for the first time in five years, but I found myself feeling aroused by the things he was saying.
I wish I’d been there to see it
. His words ran through my mind and sent a fizz of excitement through my stomach. I couldn’t imagine someone watching me, I’m sure I’d feel stupid but his simple statement made me feel desirable and sexy in a way I’d never felt before.

Steven popped his head round my door.

‘I’m heading home, Ols,’ he said, smiling tightly. I was startled out of my reverie.

‘Is that the time already?’ I’d had no idea it was so late, it felt like I’d done nothing all day but daydream.

I arrived home, switched on the oven to heat up, and grabbed my shorts and vest to do my exercise routine in front of the bedroom mirror. The first day had been hell. I had felt so hungry but today I had changed my eating habits and worked out my calories to spread them out more evenly and so far so good. It showed great restraint on my part that I switched on the oven that evening instead of calling a pizza. Was it really only four days ago that I last had pizza? It felt like months!

The exercises were difficult. I had sweat dripping off my face, although I took that as a good sign and my legs had a satisfying ache.

I put some chicken into the oven and threw myself on the sofa. I eyed the laptop and wondered whether Chris was online yet. I decided to check and sure enough he was there. His message came through before I had chance to finish typing mine.

Chris Knight:
How frustrating you are, Miss Jones, I was thinking about you and your vibrator all night.

Oh my.
I felt my muscles contract and I squirmed in my seat, smiling to myself.

Olivia Jones:
Well, that doesn’t surprise me at all, Mr Knight, you big perv.

Chris Knight:
LOL. But anyway, you agree I was right?

Olivia Jones:
About what?

Chris Knight:
The far superior orgasm you had. You could even say that I gave you.

Well he did buy me the damn thing, I reasoned, but I knew he was just trying to get a rise out of me.

Olivia Jones:
You wish.

I couldn’t believe I wrote that. Something about this man made me feel liberated in some way. I liked being cheeky and flirty with him.

Chris Knight:
Are you flirting with me, Liv? I must say I like this new slightly less innocent you.

Olivia Jones:
I suppose talking to you has been quite an education.

Chris Knight:
Oh, there’s still plenty left to learn yet;)

Olivia Jones:
I’m intrigued.

Chris Knight:
Good, I like an eager student. Now how is your fitness regime going?

Olivia Jones:
Good. I stayed below 1600 calories most days. I’ve been exercising every day. I was just about to take a shower after tonight’s session.

Chris Knight:
Which exercises are you doing?

Olivia Jones:
Squats, crunches, push-ups, though I’m never sure if I’m doing them right.

Chris Knight:
What do you mean?

Olivia Jones:
I can never work out whether my hands are in the right place and whether my knees are shoulder width apart or not.

Chris Knight:
Well as I can’t see you, I have no way to advise you. Just out of interest, what do you wear when you exercise?

Olivia Jones:
Shorts and a vest. Why?

Chris Knight:
So I can think about it later ;-)

Olivia Jones:
Pervert!

Chris Knight:
How short are the shorts?

Olivia Jones:
Very short.

Chris Knight:
Are they loose or tight?

Olivia Jones:
Pretty loose.

Chris Knight:
Excellent. :-) Of course if you could send me a picture that would help.

My eyes widened in disbelief but I felt a shiver of excitement course through my body and settle in a fuzzy tingle around my crotch.

Olivia Jones:
You want to see a photo of my shorts?

Chris Knight:
Preferably with you in them.

My face flushed while I considered it. I could take a photo from behind, he wouldn’t see my face, no one would ever know it was me. I was enjoying this line of conversation and wanted to see where it would go to rather than stopping it dead by refusing. I searched the kitchen drawer for my digital camera. The batteries were still working thankfully so I glanced around the room to decide the best place to set it up. I set the timer for thirty seconds, set the camera on the book case and stepped forward into the line of fire and waited. I heard the camera click and I went to check the image. It was quite grainy and far away. I placed the camera on a lower shelf and tried again standing closer this time. The photo was a close up shot of my backside. It actually looked fairly good. I flushed as I thought about what I was doing – sending a photo of my bottom to a stranger on the Internet.

Really, I wondered. Is this really what I’m doing? I told myself he wasn’t like a complete stranger, being friends with Steven. I uploaded the image to my laptop and sent it across to Chris.

Olivia Jones:
There you go then. Enjoy. I’m going to take a shower.

I closed the laptop and, after checking the progress of my chicken, went to wash off the sweat from my workout and cool my suddenly overheated libido.

Chapter Fifteen

My plans for the business expansion were coming along nicely. I had finally worked out the job roles I wanted and had sent out job adverts in all the local press and programming magazines. I already knew I was going to hire James and just needed to decide when to call him.

I was standing in the testing room that Friday afternoon, admiring the new layout, when Steven found me. He whistled through his teeth in admiration.

‘This place looks awesome,’ he said. There was a hint of admiration in his voice and I felt my heart swell with pride.

‘It’s really coming along, isn’t it?’ I agreed.

Steven opened the door to the server room and grinned back at me.

‘Is it all up and running?’ I nodded. ‘They’re going to run the connections through over the weekend and we will be connected to it on Monday.’ The server was going to make team working much easier. Not something I’d ever had to think about before. It would also make remote access possible too: I could connect to it from home, not that I wanted to spend every waking minute working but it would allow me to work from home if I felt the need to be away from so many people once in a while … or one particular person.

I remembered my promise to Ruth about going for a drink.

‘Not having a quick one after work tonight?’ I asked him, ‘I think this deserves a celebration.’

He smiled sadly, shaking his head. He’d been quiet the rest of the week after Steph’s revelation.

‘Can’t help noticing that no one invited me this week.’

‘You don’t need to be invited, you just turn up.’ I told him. Steph had only made a point of inviting him last week because she had particularly wanted him there. Clearly that wasn’t the case this week.

‘I don’t think it’s a good idea anyway,’ he shrugged.

‘Are you sure? You kinda look like you could do with a pint.’

It broke my heart to see him so torn between wanting to go for a drink and wanting to get home to safety away from Melissa.

‘I could use a beer, but I guess I’ll just have one at home.’

‘Not even with me there to protect you?’ I grinned at him. Steven shook his head.

‘Thanks, Ols, I appreciate that, but I just want to get home and get this week behind me.’

I nodded in understanding and watched him leave.

As I walked home, I pondered on my feelings for Steven. There’d been a change in the atmosphere this week, particularly after the revelation about Melissa. He’d been quiet and moody ever since, looked at me sadly; perhaps he thought I was disgusted with him and was upset by it. Was I disgusted? I didn’t think I was. I felt jealous as hell that he had been with her last Friday night but I also recognised it for what it was. I missed the confident, flirty Steven although I had to admit it was also good that he wasn’t distracting me so much. Instead I was feeling distracted by Chris Knight. The anonymous Chris Knight. I shook my head. Swapping a gorgeous man who was right there in my office for an unknown man on the end of a computer who I would never meet. It was insane. Or maybe it was just the distraction from Steven I needed.

As soon as I opened up the laptop that evening, a message arrived from Chris.

Chris Knight:
You did it again, Liv, putting ideas into my head and leaving me dangling.

Olivia Jones:
I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Chris Knight:
Thank you for the photo, I’ll be keeping that with me at all times. Nice ass, by the way.

I smiled as I felt my heart rate increase and my face flush with a warm glow.

Olivia Jones:
It still needs some work but thanks.

Chris Knight:
Not at all, it’s perfect. I’ve been thinking about you doing your push-ups in those shorts.

Olivia Jones:
I doubt that’s a pretty thought, my big fat arse sticking up in the air, blocking out the sun.

I giggled to myself, I had an idea where this was going and it was thrilling.

Chris Knight:
On the contrary, I was thinking that those shorts would be easy to move aside, I could easily fuck you from behind while you’re exercising.

I didn’t know what it was about the crudeness of his words, but every time he said “fuck” it sent shivers down my spine. I squirmed in my seat.

Olivia Jones:
I imagine that would make it difficult for me to get through all my reps. Some trainer you turned out to be, preventing me from doing my exercises.

Chris Knight:
Not at all, I’d wait until you’re at the end of your reps, and sex is a great calorie burner.

Olivia Jones:
Sexercise?

Chris Knight:
LOL.

Olivia Jones:
It can’t burn that many calories; you’d have to be at it for ages, surely?

Chris Knight:
Oh God, is this one of those times where you offer some kind of revelation of your limited and frankly poor sexual experience?

Olivia Jones:
Um well, it doesn’t exactly take very long does it?

Chris Knight:
LOL let me guess … You’re in bed in your flannel pyjamas, facing the edge of the bed. He cuddles up behind you pressing himself into your lower back, stroking your arm and kissing your hair. You lie there wondering if you can pretend to be asleep. His hand creeps round to squeeze your breast and you realise he’s not giving up so you roll onto your back and kiss him. His hand heads south, bypassing any kind of build-up, snakes his hand inside your pants and fumbles about quickly, you gasp because it’s uncomfortable but he takes it as a sign of pleasure and speeds up before climbing over you, removing your pants and plunging on in. You lie there waiting for it to be over and he slows down realising you’re not that excited and thinking he needs to take it slow so you start moaning enthusiastically so he’ll come and get the hell off you …
The whole thing takes two-and-a-half minutes. Or thereabout.
