THE KILLER’S COUSIN
NANCY WERLIN
“Tell me,” Lily said, as if casually. “How did it feel when she went down?” All the air left the room. Lily was leaning forward, her gaze avid, sucking at mine. “Did you feel…powerful? Even for a minute?”
Recently acquitted of murder, David has moved to Massachusetts to stay with his aunt and uncle and complete his senior year of high school. But his aunt makes it clear that he is not welcome in their house, and his young cousin Lily is viciously hostile. As Lily’s behaviour becomes increasingly threatening, David wonders what secrets lurk within her. And the more he thinks about Lily, the more he is forced to deal with the horrors of the past.
Winner of the Edgar Allan Poe Award,
The Killer’s Cousin
chills and thrills on every page.

BROTHERS
Can you still be a brother when your brother is dead? Luke often wonders. His brother Marius has died, leaving Luke alone with their parents. When their mother decides to burn Marius’s belongings in a ceremonial bonfire, Luke saves his brother’s diary and makes it his own by writing in it. And so begins a dialogue between the brothers, the dead and the living, from which truths emerge, truths of life and death and love.
Acclaim from the International Press: “Van Lieshout has written, in clear and simple language, one of the most beautiful books for adolescents I have read in ages.”
CUT
PATRICIA McCORMICK
Most of the girls are anorexic. They’re called guests with food issues. Some are druggies. They’re called guests with substance abuse issues. The rest, like me, are assorted psychos. We’re called guests with behavioural issues. And the place is a residential treatment facility. It is not called a loony bin.
Callie isn’t speaking to anybody Instead she watches and listens, absorbing and analysing everything that goes on at ‘Sick Minds’, the place where she was sent because she cuts herself. Yet Callie finds herself drawn into the lives of the other guests. And discovers she has power over life and death…
“I read
Cut
in one breathless sitting…You will not soon forget a girl named Callie and this remarkable novel.”

DISCONNECTED
SHERRYASHWORTH
“It’s hard to know where to begin. I’m not even sure who I want to talk to. Or what I want to say. But maybe if I try to put all the different parts together it will make some sort of sense. So here’s my story, and it’s for each of you to whom I owe an explanation. But remember, I’m not sorry.”
Catherine Margaret Holmes Loving and dutiful daughter.
Cathy Holmes A-level, A-grade student.
Cath Holmes Friend and confidante.
Cat Risk taker, thrill seeker, rebel.
Will that do as an introduction?
“It’s not often that a book makes me think I must go out and find some more of this author’s work now, but that’s the effect
Disconnected
had on me. I was well and truly blown away”

“A sassy book with some strong language and a lot of verve.”

BREADERS
JULIA CLARKE
Bianca is dressed in white, like a delicate oriental bird that has landed here by accident. Before she speaks she lights a cigarette. She only smokes when she’s upset. “We’re going to have a complete break from London. We’re leaving.”
Cat no longer recognises her life. Uprooted from the city by their actress mother, she and her younger sister Ana must adapt to living by the sea in Yorkshire. Nothing is the same – it’s hard to tell friends from enemies, and truth from lies. Soon Cat finds herself caught up in conflicts as powerful as the breakers pounding the shore…
“Unsentimental, gritty and funny, there’s only one possible result: Teenagers 1, Parents 0.”

But when Jess doesn’t repond to Roland’s confident advances, he becomes intrigued with the girl for his own reasons…

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT
ROBERT CORMIER
Do not pick up the phone. Let your mother or me answer it. If it’s for you, I will hand it over. Alone in the house, you do not answer.
The phone calls come every year, waking Denny up in the middle of the night. Every year, Denny’s father calmly answers. He never speaks. He simply listens. But this year it’s different. It’s twenty-five years since the fire, the terrible tragedy for which Denny’s father bears the blame. The tragedy which triggered these calls, year in, year out. This year, Denny has had enough. This year, he will pick up the phone – and face the consequences.
Shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal.
“One of the most tautly written and frightening of Robert Cormier’s always scary novels.”
