Acknowledgments

I would like to thank and congratulate the more than 2.5 million individ
uals who have completed my applied learning systems with an overall average of above 95 percent retention. Because of them, the academic and business worlds are discovering the value and effectiveness of organized memory systems. Because of them, the learning revolution has begun!

I would also like to thank the many professional educators and administrators for their contributions in the development, piloting, and implementation of a number of my applied learning systems: Dr. Susan Collins; Dr. Marsha Zehner; Dr. Thomas Jenkins; Russel M. Sutton; Rosalie Virgo; and the thousands of teachers, professors, and corporate trainers who use my systems daily. Their progressive attitudes in seeking more effective methods of instruction and their commitment to raising the bar of academic excellence in America will help millions of students achieve unprecedented academic success with my learning systems.

I want to thank my friend and business associate, Robert Mad-destra, President of DCM Instructional Systems, who has believed in and marketed my medical education series for more than twenty-five years. He helped lay the foundation to establish applied memory techniques both as a science and as a commercially suc cessful enterprise. His integrity is beyond reproach. Best of all, I am most privileged that he is one of my very closest and trusted friends.

I would also like to thank Max Maxwell, my business associate, whose intellectual stimulation and vision of the future of education using my memory systems has been most inspiring.

About the Author

Dean Vaughn is a living testimony to the advantages of using his memory
systems.

At an early age, he began work in an entry-level position at one of the largest health insurance companies in America. Within six and a half years, he had advanced through seven newly created positions to become the youngest vice president in the history of the company. With thirty-four years remaining until retirement, he gave up the security of his new position to begin to teach others the secrets of the Dean Vaughn Total Retention System. It is a decision for which more than two and a half million individuals are most appreciative.

Vaughn’s interest in memory began near the North Pole while working as a civilian at the United States Ballistic Missile Early Warning System at Thule, Greenland. He had just completed two years of military service and had gone to Greenland as a civilian to earn enough money to pay for a college education. There he began the self-study of psychology that led him to an insatiable interest in memory. He traced memory systems and techniques to ancient times, and discovered that ancient scholars used organized memory systems with exceptional results.

Vaughn began to develop and test his own methods on his fellow workers. Soon he discovered that “the secret of the ages” could be applied even more effectively to the needs of modern society.

Today, Dean Vaughn is spearheading a learning revolution. He is the only author who has applied and validated memory techniques in practical academic and business applications. He has proven that his memory systems work—better than any known to exist.

The finest testimonial to the effectiveness of Dean Vaughn’s methods is that he has revolutionized the teaching of every subject to which he has applied his learning system. Courses currently available include a wide range of subjects, such as the Vaughn Cube for Music Theory, the Vaughn Cube for Mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), telling time, plane and solid geometry, U.S. and world geography, conversational Spanish, world language vocabulary, Latin and Greek for English vocabulary, the periodic table of chemical elements, the world’s leading medical terminology course, basic human anatomy, dental terminology, anatomy, and physiology.

Remarkably, all of Dean Vaughn’s applied learning systems are designed with an objective of 100 percent retention. His teaching aids are guaranteed to be the fastest, easiest, and most effective methods to teach the respective subject, or a full refund is offered. Even more remarkable, with more than twelve thousand schools, colleges, companies, hospitals, and government agencies having used these applied teaching aids, no refunds have ever been requested.

Dean Vaughn has been the keynote speaker for more than three hundred state, national, and international conventions of academic and business leaders, and he is consistently acclaimed as “the best we have ever had!”
